The house is clean and comfortable. What makes this property special is its location on Shaker Mill Pond! The view greets you as soon as you walk through the front gate into the yard. Kayaks and canoes are provided and the private dock is right there, making it easy to enjoy the water. The house is a very quick walk into town to visit No Six Depot (coffee shop) the West Stockbridge farmers market, etc. The location is also convenient for getting around to all Berkshires attractions.

We enjoyed our stay at the end of August. There’s so much to do in the area—Tanglewood, hiking, canoeing, good restaurants. The kitchen has everything you need, beds are very comfortable. Lots of places to hang out both inside and outside the house.

We enjoyed two weeks with grown children and a family friend in this remarkable West Stockbridge home, a perfect launching pad for Tanglewood, Jacob's Pillow, the Mount, Rockwell, Chesterwood, charming towns, and everything else in the Berkshires. Someone really lives here, so the home comes with everything you need, even for extensive cooking. The formal garden (with gazebo) is beautiful and maintained. I made heavy use of the kayaks on the pond, which provides a splendid view from the deck(s) and sun room. We tested the 3-system A/C on one really hot day, and they performed well. A special salute to our host, whose useful but brief guide to the home reflects an intelligent, practical mind treating guests as adults, instead of the more typical legalisms of a recent grad from a second-rate law school. Communications were excellent and prompt. Don't miss the quirky, creative, and sometimes moving sculpture garden at the cleverly named TurnPark, next to the Turnpike, about a three-block walk away. Not as striking as Storm King, but in some ways more intriguing. When you think you saw everything, look again.

This is our second spring break in Chris’ home on the Williams river. At the last minute, we asked my spouses parents to join us, as we needed in Providence for a day and it meant the kids would not have to join us. We had a great time…we hiked, the ladies spent a day at Kripalu, we cooked great meals, enjoyed s’mores on the campfire, caught a few bass in the river, and wandered around great barrington. The house is lovely, kitchen is well equipped, and the location is great. We’ll be back.

This stay was incredible. The area has everything we needed and being right on the lake was beautiful! The house was well maintained and had tons of space for four adults and four kids. Chris was so easy to deal with and made this whole experience flawless! Thank you for putting the joy back into vacations!

We were four sisters in our mid-to-late sixties looking for a place to have a "sistercation." This place was perfect: four bedrooms, one on the first floor for a sister who had trouble with stairs. The house is clean and well appointed and has everything we needed to congregate, cook together, see the local sights, and still big enough for us to claim some privacy when we needed it. We loved the kayaks and pond, and it was a perfect location for a photoshoot with local photographer Avida Love Photography. A hurricane was approaching, (and thankfully never arrived), but the owner had propane delivered for the back-up generator just in case. And speaking of the owner, he was extremely responsive and prompt in answering every little question we had. This property is convenient to central Berkshire venues, like the Norman Rockwell Museum, Crane Museum of Papermaking, Berkshire Botanical Garden, Hancock Shaker Village, wineries, and theatres: (Barrington Stage, Shakespeare and Company and Berkshire Theatre Group) Couldn't have asked for a better experience.

This was our second year at this home, and we had a wonderful time! Chris is a great host and the home has everything you need! Excellent location, clean, comfy, and spacious property with an amazing yard!

Beautiful property on picturesque lake with everything one could want to enjoy your stay. Canoe and kayak available and fun to use to explore the lake. House is spacious and very comfortable. As others have noted, the kitchen is exceptionally well supplied. The location makes for easy access to many of Berkshire attractions, including hiking trails, Audubon sanctuaries, and Tanglewood. Highly recommend the Rouge restaurant which is within walking distance of the house. Shout out to Mark who trouble shots any problems for the owner, Chris. He was incredibly responsive when a problem arose. Everyone in the family had a great time staying here.

We had a great week at 7 Swamp Road. The house is situated in a main road but you’d never know it. Once you enter the gate you’re in your own private oasis. A beautiful view of the pond from the deck, sunroom, gazebo or dock. The house is spacious and clean and well equipped with everything you will need for a week away. Perfect for our friends and family. Centrally located to all the sites and a quick walk to town for all essentials. Don’t miss out on this one!

This house had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and cozy. The kitchen was very well stocked, the outdoor area is spectacular, and the kayaks available are really great to explore the lake. Chris, the host, was extremely responsive and helpful and did a fantastic job to resolve an issue when one came up. I would highly recommend!

Outstanding grounds with multiple outdoor seating areas and activities. Lots of places to enjoy a meal together both inside and outside. Well-stocked kitchen and very comfortable home.

We had a very good time staying at Chris’s property for spring break. There’s great access to the mountains for hiking and a lovely comfortable place to return to at the end of the day. We enjoyed time reading and playing games in the sunroom overlooking the yard, made s’mores in campfire ring on the pond, and cooked some great meals in the well equipped kitchen. Highly recommended

We had a great time at Chris's house. We've stayed at several rentals in the area and this house was by far the best-equipped, from the kitchen tools and coffee to the basket of ski gloves. The house is very well-maintained and the setting was beautiful, especially in the snow (which the caretaker shoveled for us). Very convenient location- walking distance to town and only a 15min drive to Pittsfield , Great Barrington, or Butternut. My mother, who has trouble with stairs, was very comfortable in the downstairs bedroom. An excellent stay!

The house is in a perfect location in the middle of the Berkshires. It is very close to the small town of West Stockbridge, which has a couple of stores and restaurants. The house is very spacious and comfortable, and is great for families or large parties. Will definitely look to reserve again if I find myself back in the area.

Our family of 4 loved the sunroom facing the pond and found most everything we needed in this well-equipped home.

The home was very welcoming. We have been getting together for 30+ years and this year just wanted a relaxing place, no work to do and have fun with friends. This house has all the creatures comforts and with loads of character. Chris did a great job on the remodel. We normally stay in the woods, but as soon as you shut the gate, you instantly shut out the world and enjoy the pond. We will be staying here again.

Great spot, not far from anything, great property and easy to stay in. Had a great time hiking at local trails and relaxing at the fire pit afterwards. Quick drive to most anything needed!

We had an enjoyable stay. Downstairs bathroom and kitchen were awesome!

Perfect location for our family to spend a week. Many outdoor spaces to work, read, or relax from, and a one minute walk from town for those who want to pick up a sandwich or go for a stroll. The pond with kayaks & a canoe was a real highlight! Went in 3 times in our week there. (And we appreciated the various lifejackets for safety.). A few minute drive from great hikes and orchards. Property was very clean and keypad made check-in a breeze. The stairs are quite steep, but having the main floor master meant it wasn't a problem at all for the older people in our party who would have had trouble. The general store in town was very convenient for last-minute essentials; a major grocery store was around a 20 minute drive. The cafe in town had a great outdoor setup for safe ordering or dining, and good breakfast/lunch options.

This was a wonderful weekend with friends. This house was perfect, close to town and many hiking trails. The yard on the water was perfect for our fires at night, coffee in am on the deck. The house provided all the amenities we needed and more.. would definitely stay there again.

The house and property are especially beautiful. The pond, gazebo, deck and gardens were exquisite in fall colors. We loved sitting by the pond as the sun set and catching the last warmth of the day. A kayak ride from the dock at the house offered a unique perspective and unexpected beauty. Hiking trails are also abundant and easy to access from this location.

This is a very well-appointed home with every convenience and lots of space to spread. Four of us, two couples, spent much of our time sitting near the pond in the shade of the huge tree on the pond’s edge. In the evening we enjoyed the rockers in the screened gazebo. Excellent takeout from 2 nearby restaurants. Many interesting destinations nearby. Highly recommend.

My husband, two small children and I, had a wonderful time at Chris’s place! We could not have asked for more. So much love and attention has gone in to all aspects of this rental. The home was well stocked with coffee, dish soap and laundry detergent, along with anything you may need to make a home cooked meal. We enjoyed all aspects of the property. The gazebo, deck, dock and gardens were enjoyed but all. The village has so much to offer just a short walk away. We enjoyed the farmers market on Thursdays as well as the cider donuts from Bartlett Orchards just up the way. We can’t wait for our next stay at Chris’s place. You can not go wrong booking this property!

Our family of 4 thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this house. It was very well kept and clean, both inside and outside. Outside, we enjoyed fishing off the dock and from the boat, watching the beautiful lake from the deck during meals or morning coffee, toasting marshmallows in the fire pit at night, and admiring the well tended flower garden. One of the coolest things about this property is its location. When you go in through the front gate, it feels like entering a very private oasis, but you are still close enough to the little town of West Stockbridge to walk there in a few minutes. Inside, the house was clean and spacious. There were lots of areas around to escape for alone time or to gather together. Kitchen was well stocked and clean with spices and cooking supplies. The included linens were soft and comfortable (not the usual in vacation rentals!). The obviously newer “master suite” with king bed and new bathroom was expansive and bright. Temperature in the house was easily controlled with zoned central air. Chris was very responsive and friendly in all interactions, his love for this house shows. Thank you for having us, we plan to rent again if we come to the area!

Our group of 8 (4 adults and 4 children) had a fantastic vacation at this home. The house was probably the best rental I’ve ever had - very clean and well-stocked with everything you need, and Chris, the owner is super responsive. The kayaks and canoe were a huge hit with the kids. The location is great. We enjoyed dinner on the deck, drinks in the gazebo, and s’mores by the fire. Definitely recommend this home.

Really spacious house! Huge master bedroom, sunroom overlooking the pond was great for hanging out, kayaks and canoes for us to explore the pond, and lots of activities within easy driving distance! Chris was a great host and we had a wonderful time!

The house was relaxing and perfect for our needs. Three adults and one teenager arrived to get out the NYC area. The house has lots of room to spread out. I particularly loved the garden and the sun-room. My friends enjoyed cooking in the kitchen -- everything you could possibly need is there. Also, it's a short walk to town. While there, we experienced a horrendous storm and lost power. Mark, the house watcher, stopped by to make sure the generator worked. We were one of the only homes in W. Stockbridge with power. :) Thanks for a wonderful stay -- we will definitely return!
