Professors' Place - Beautiful River View! WHOLE HOUSE! 20 min. to Hershey
Belle maison sur la rivière Susquehanna! Vue imprenable sur la rivière depuis les fenêtres avant. À distance de marche de Capitol, Midtown Scholar Bookstore, Broad Street Market, Strawberry Square, Whitaker Center. Maison lumineuse et lumineuse avec un intérieur mis à jour. Nous sommes minimalistes dans notre décor, donc nous n'avons pas beaucoup d'encombrement. Mais nous croyons en la possession d'articles de qualité et de valeur. Chaque élément décoratif de notre maison a été choisi avec soin et nous apporte beaucoup de joie! Couettes Amish faites à la main sur tous les lits. Beaux vitraux. Oeuvres d'art locales originales dans toute la maison. Un tapis persan dans le salon fabriqué à partir de colorants naturels et acheté par le biais d'une organisation de commerce équitable. 2 terrasses extérieures sur lesquelles vous pourrez vous détendre et manger. Un patio extérieur au large de la cuisine. Nous aimons aussi prendre le petit déjeuner en été à la petite table devant notre porte d'entrée. En parlant de petit déjeuner, nous adorons les beignets et les brioches à la cannelle à quelques pâtés de maisons de la Broad St. Marché. Nous sommes membres de la foi mennonite, ce qui signifie que nous ne sommes pas autorisés à avoir une télévision dans notre maison. Cependant, nous ne voulons pas imposer nos valeurs à nos clients, nous fournissons donc une connexion Wi-Fi gratuite - alors apportez votre ordinateur portable et vos appareils pour obtenir votre temps d'écran. Notre famille aime parler, marcher et jouer ensemble. Nous avons des jeux de société et des livres à la maison pour votre plaisir. Profitez du grand air! Il suffit de marcher dehors et de commencer à faire du jogging, de la marche et du vélo le long de la rivière. Belle promenade jusqu'à City Island (environ 25 minutes de marche) où vous pouvez utiliser des cages de frappeurs, des jeux d'arcade, regarder des matchs de baseball des Sénateurs, des matchs de football des City Islanders, un mini-golf aquatique, une aire de jeux, etc. Nous aimons cette maison et nous savons que vous aussi! En tant que famille de neuf personnes, nous ne vivons ici qu'une partie de l'année. Nous aimons savoir que notre maison est disponible pour d'autres grands groupes ou même pour des réunions de famille. Nous savons combien il est difficile de trouver des hébergements similaires dans des hôtels où les groupes peuvent passer du temps ensemble. Histoire: La maison a appartenu pendant 35 ans. par un professeur de psychiatrie. Nous sommes tous deux également professeurs de biologie et de science politique. Cette maison est un endroit idéal pour se détendre et faire une pause dans le travail!

The property was immaculately clean and very well appointed. My friends used it as a central location while we were attending a convention in Harrisburg and is served us really well. The only small ding on an otherwise really perfect property is that parking is tough. This isn't the owner's fault of course but it's worth mentioning that if you're commuting by car you will need to carefully check all posted signage.

This property was everything promised in the description. We stayed the weekend to attend a family wedding and were very happy with our choice of this accommodation.

We were disappointed by the advertising and disclosures after you had our money (with a no refund policy) that would have most assurdly not been something we would have chosen. We were greatly disturbed by the three story situation, the terrible parking problem and the incredible level of traffic within five steps of the front door. The decorating description was embellished..

Several friends and I were in town for a wedding and had a great time here. The place is clean and inviting. Everyone was comfortable in their bedrooms and there were also multiple outdoor spaces. We had a couple of wedding related events in town and we were able to walk to all of them. The house is located across the street from a river and so we had a pleasant walk along the river into town. One member of our group is a runner and she enjoyed running along one side of the river to a bridge then back along the other side to a second bridge. Check in was straightforward and the house had the amenities we needed (towels, hairdryer, etc.).

I was visiting with some cousins and friends for my birthday and we had a great time at the house. There’s a lot of views and we loved how close to the water it is! We were a bit sad that the grill wasn’t available, but I would definitely come back again in the future!

Wonderful time staying in such a unique home! We never even found a need for tv and didn’t miss it a bit. There was so much to do and so much to explore. Our kids were fascinated with how different this house was from what they’ve seen. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Could not ask for a better spot- just a few blocks from the amazing public market, movie theatres, restaurants… You do need to consider the parking, but it’s not a huge deal.
Beds are comfy. No frills, but a nice, clean place.

Such iia beautiful home, perfect location for activities . Walking distance to downtown Harrisburg. And easy travel to Hershey, Camp Hill, York, Lancaster area. Stunning views.home provided all basic needs.

The home itself was an older home with a lot of character & charm. Just a neat place! Many details & information were shared in advance of our arrival which was very helpful. . All of our needs were met by the host and we enjoyed our stay there. The biggest problem was parking near the home. It was stressful. Needed to work around street cleaning, streets being repaved, and one-way streets. Had to park 4-5 blocks up the street in order to be safe from tickets or towing. Not only just one but had 2 vehicles to park. Parking was the only negative during our stay in Harrisburg.

Beautiful
The home is absolutely beautiful. The hardwood floors, stain glass windows, view of the river, all of it was just amazing.
The communication was top notch. I knew if anything cane up, I could reach out. If I'm ever planning to go back, I would most definitely stay again!

Unreasonable house rules
We left and stayed at a hotel for the week instead of staying the night here because the house did not meet the needs of our family, and this was not clear prior to booking the stay. The house location and expectations were unworkable for us.
Examples:
(1) The first example isn't really the homeowner's fault, and is completely understandable given the age and location of the home. Unfortunately, we couldn't find out about these prior to booking, or we would have booked elsewhere. There was no parking at the property, and there were no designated spots on the closest side road. This meant every time we left, we had to move the cars and hope to find a nearby spot when we returned. While this is perfectly fine for some, the walk was hard on my parents, who are getting up there in years. The narrow steps inside were also difficult for my parents.
(2) The rest of our examples are house rules set by the owner. The house has some air conditioning, but the homeowner requested that it be set at 75 degrees, which is too warm for our family, which runs hot. (This was actually the final straw that caused us to choose to pay the extra money for a hotel-- otherwise we'd be too tired and cranky to enjoy the week... best money we spent!)
(3) The house had beautiful windows looking at the water, but the homeowner requested the windows remained shuttered during daytime hours to protect their hardwood floors. I understand that this is an old house, but the PRIMARY selling point for booking this was that it had a beautiful view. My dad will spend hours just watching the water, which he was unable to see because the windows had to remain shuttered.
(4) The rules said we were not able to wear shoes in the house to protect the floor. Two members of my family are required by their doctor to wear shoes except for when they're laying down for bed.
(5) The rules also said we could not eat anywhere other than the kitchen or dining room. This just didn't work for my family, who likes to snack while watching movies and playing games.... though, I should also mention there is no TV here.
These restrictions probably work for many people, but it did not work for our family of 5. We left and did not stay for the week. I wouldn't post all of this because the homeowners seem lovely, but I would like to spare another family the inconvenience we went through.

Perfect for Large Family
Staying at the Professor's Place made our family's volunteer weekend in Harrisburg perfect! We all had plenty of room to spread out inside the house--- as well as on the balconies and back patio. The neighbors were wonderful and the teens were able to walk to the Broad Street Market to get food on their own! We definitely hop to stay again in the near future! Thanks for sharing your home with us!!!

Positive Experience
The house was just as described. It accommodated our large party well, which was in the area for a short weekend away. It is within walking distance from some shops and restaurants, which is nice. Parking wasn't bad on the weekend or maybe we just got lucky but permit parking wasn't enforced on Saturday/Sunday. Overall, it was a good experience. Pet friendly was nice feature, as we have two small dogs. The grass right across the street was nice as well. Good views from each level of the home. Listen to what the directions say about the heat,. It was VERY cold and windy and we kept the heat on 60 the entire time and the house stayed very warm!

City Oasis
This was a perfect place for our family. We have a family member in the hospital down the street so this was a prime location. We woke each morning to a beautiful view of the Susquehanna River that lightened our spirits. Our family took full advantage of all the games located on the property. Our favorite game though was hide n seek. Parking was a bit of a challenge but we expected that. We would definitely stay here again.

Long weekend get away
My family and I enjoyed a long weekend at this property. It was clean and well stocked with everything we needed. It was a short 20 mins to Hersey Park. We also enjoyed walking along the river and exploring the downtown area.

ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!!
We stayed for the weekend of the Pump Muster & this house was PERFECT! Walking distance to everything & our 1 year old absolutely loved running from end to end of the house & all of the toys! The rooms are spacious & super clean! We will definitely be staying here again!

Great location and beautiful old home
Great hosts, communicative and flexible. The house is a stunning old home with most of the original features with a few well done updates like exposed brick walls. The decor is minimal but nice and the location can’t be beat with views of the river and a short walk to the Broad Street Market and City Island.

Great city getaway!
The property was quite charming. The beds were comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked. The location to everything in the city was perfect. The running, walking and bike paths that ran along the river directly across the street were truly enjoyable.

Great location with a beautiful view of the river. Very short drive to Hershey, plenty of shopping nearby. The house was perfect for our needs. Parking was a little bit of an issue but manageable.

Great house, location and homeowners!
Several friends and I spent a weekend here and couldn’t of asked for a better spot! Almost everywhere we wanted to go was within walking distance! Great view of the river and great neighborhood! The homeowners made everything about the stay extremely easy and even took the time to give us a list of restaurants, certain sites, etc. I would definitely recommend this home!

Perfect spot
Owners were very nice and accommodating. Perfect spot with a beautiful view close to downtown, but a quiet area next to the river. The weather was perfect, so that always helps, but Nathan and Faith always were quick to respond to our emails.

We love the location with the view of the river.
The house is totally clean, and comfortable.
Love that we could get up and make coffee and breakfast in the super cute kitchen before we headed out for the day

Unfortunate electrical issue
The property was a little different then what we thought and we had unfortunate wiring issue with it, but other than that was pretty straight forward. They worked with us with the wiring issue as best they could I feel.

Professor's Place
Property location was great, being right on the river and also close to town to walk. Parking is a major issue having to park on the side streets. Closest we ever got was two blocks away, furthest was 4.
House in general was ok. Beds were uncomfortable. Décor in the place is very lacking. No TV or radios. AC technically only downstairs nothing on 2nd floor and 3rd floor unit barely put any cold air.
Owner has signs all over the place about don't touch their personal stuff. For a rental unit you would think they would not have their personal stuff in there. No dressers, closets full of their clothes.
I am just glad we did not have kids with us, it would have been a night mare. We did enjoy our self and just kept telling ourselves we are just here to sleep.
Owners are very nice, never met them, but through emails only.
Overall feel the description should be more forth coming about what you are getting, No TV, No Radio, limited parking, 3 Stories, etc.

My husband and I couldn't have asked for a better place to stay for 2 weeks.
The location is great, the neighbors were very friendly, the owners were extremely kind and the house itself was amazing. We truly enjoyed staying here.
