The home and area were beautiful. Unfortunately, the attitude of Elena was not as desirable. There was a gas leak and while Elena did call the gas company, she refused to her have her maintenance man visit the property on the first night. Instead he came on Saturday morning and disturbed sleeping guests for a bit. We had to have our own person stop by to say they were maintenance to avoid having the gas completely shut off until morning. We had to pay our local person for his inconvenience which Elena said she wanted to at least tip him, and this never happened. On Sunday we honored an 81 year old guest with outdoor music from 5 - 6:30 pm. Shortly before 6 pm Elena called and said she received complaints. AT 6 PM? I verified noise ordinances are in place beginning 9 pm - 9 am. Seems quite odd that we were called around 6 pm when it was early and not very loud. We asked for a bit of a refund for our inconvenience and Elena declined, offering a menial amount, refusing to negotiate and then discontinuing communication. I have never used VRBO before and since all communication was with the host I did not even think that we would be looking for alternate accommodations. Elena tried to blame guests about timing if notifying her and such. There is no blame for people who paid in advance and could not even turn in the stove to cook for senior citizens either health concerns because of the gas danger. Elena was interested in her review rather than guest comfort/safety.

The house was very nice. The set up was laid back. Only a small walk to the beach. Elena loves her art which made my boyfriend love the stay even more bc of his appreciation for art. We will most definitely be back. Thanks for welcoming us! See you soon!

Elena was a very helpful and responsive hostess. The home was located next to an easy path to the beach. It took just a few minutes to walk, even with young children and a wagon. The outdoor shower made sand removal quick and easy. The patio/backyard was a wonderful place for the children to play while we cooked meals. We spent time visiting and playing games with family at the large tables. The parking area was level and had plenty of room. The home amenities exceeded our expectations. From dish soap to Kleenex, this home was ready for guests to relax and enjoy. We hope to see you again! ~ The Petty/Johnson family had a wonderful time!

This was our yearly 4th of July family vacation to Miller Beach. This house was awesome!! Elena has everything you need in her home and it was super clean, which was super important to us. Her home is located across the street from the beach with a super easy path to the beach. She is always a text or phone call away if you need anything. Perfect for family with kids. She has a great patio for grilling and hanging out, bikes to ride, Beach Toys, etc. We will definitely love to rent her house again. My only suggestion is that if you plan on renting and you like to watch tv or movies, bring something to watch on, because this home only has one tv in the basement. We knew this ahead of time, so we all would watch movies at night on our ipads/phones/laptops etc. It was such a great time, cant wait to do it again :) Thank you Elena for sharing your home with us.

We loved staying at Elena’s beach house, just steps from beautiful Lake Michigan! The house is absolutely lovely—plenty of space for our family to gather for meals, lounging, and to play games, both inside and out (the patio is gorgeous!!). The artwork and decor are very cool and make this home a definite step up from other rentals we’ve had in both Miller Beach and Union Pier, MI. Comfy beds, updated bathrooms, and an excellent stocked kitchen (great for cooks like us!) made the stay extra enjoyable. Elena is very welcoming, helpful, and responsive. Our teen and tween both said her beach house is their favorite place we’ve stayed in 10 years! We can’t wait to come back!

Couldn't ask for a better location for a beach vacation. The beach and water was great. The neighborhood was nice. The kitchen was fantastic for a large group. The outdoor shower was nice when coming back from the beach. The outdoor space was nice and provided a good place for meals and hanging out. We had a couple of home maintenance issues that could happen at any home while we were there and the host was responsive. The host is very accommodating and will let you know of home procedures as well as local suggestions. Our family had a good time together on our vacation here.

We booked for a week for our annual family summer vacation. Property is very well cared for and bright with lots of windows, We loved being able to access the lake and the national park quite easily. Elena was a very good host and proactive with her communication. Highly recommend!

Loved the king size beds, expansive kitchen, and amazing artworks throughout the house. Lake Michigan is visible from the house, and just a short walk to the beach. A five minute drive takes you to Indiana Dunes National Park with miles of trails and more beach front.

Large spaces for gathering of 9 adults, big dining/game table between kitchen & lounge.. Plenty of bedrooms & baths. Easy walk to the beach. For Handicapped adults many steps to navigate in the home, but doable. Great kitchen for multiple cooks to share in preparation & clean up. Great appliances. Enough dinnerware & silverware to serve twice as many lodgers. But strangely only 6 teaspoons.

Our family of 7 stayed and enjoyed thoroughly. Not only is Elena most accommodating, her home is beautiful and comfortable. Lots of room for everyone to have their space if wanted. Short walk to the most beautiful beach. To say this was a great family getaway is an understatement as it was above and beyond my expectations.

We had a great time at this house. Other than a little hiccup at check in everything else was fine. The 3 bathrooms in the house are upscale. Full body shower was amazing. Other than sleeping we spent most of our time on the patio. Weather was great. Mentioned to Elena about how nice it would be to have a firepit on patio. Would stay there again if we are back in that area.

Beautiful place and very well appointed. Large private patio off the back with multiple sitting areas. Landscapes lended to the peacefulness. Then there’s the beach with the entrance path just across the street. Elena was great with instructions to get in and quickly answering our questions. Strongly recommend.

We came here to celebrate my daughter’s Sweet 16 and had absolute amazing time. The home was comfortable and clean. It is very spacious and allows for you to move around the home freely. The girls loved it and have already asked to go back again! Elena was simply wonderful. I will definitely be back. Thank you so much for allowing us to enjoy your home!

Loved staying in this beautiful home with lots of space and amazing vibes. Booked it for a women’s retreat and all of the ladies felt very comfortable and “at home”. The host was wonderful!! Hope to stay here again!

Perfect location to enjoy the beach and visit the Indiana Dunes! The house is super close to the beach access and our kids loved walking the beach every day. It was an easy trip over to Chicago and South Bend, and we spent a day enjoying the Indiana Dunes NP. The host was very accommodating and friendly. She was responsive in her communication and sent recommendations of restaurants and other things to enjoy in the area. We look forward to staying here again!

The owner was very easy to communicate with. The many beds are comfortable. The kitchen is fantastic and well-stocked with dishes, pots, pans, etc...we even hosted Thanksgiving for 10 people comfortably. The décor is modern and new with interesting artwork around every corner. Teens loved their space downstairs while adults hung out upstairs. Highly recommend.

We had a wonderful stay literally steps from the beach. Well equipped kitchen and really comfortable beds. We enjoyed the large dining room table for gathering and we used the round table downstairs for cards. The patio is nicely secluded and private (even though the neighbor is close). The patio has a big picnic table, mood lights and a cozy couch. We could hear the waves from the patio and spent quite a bit of time out there! We found a gate for the stairs (toddler) and it worked great for us. The beach blankets and toys were a nice touch. Just a five minute drive from Indiana Dunes State Park. Also, there is a good pizza place just a couple of blocks away that we ordered from twice when we weren't cooking in the lovely kitchen. If I were to change anything it would be the couple of toe stubbers in thresholds where the floors don't quite match (we put a bright colored paper on the floor to remind us) and add curtains in the downstairs bedrooms. As a family we have stayed in many vacation homes and this was one of the best! Will return!

We had a truly wonderful time here! Elena was warm, kind, and extremely responsive. The beach is incredibly close. The house was well-appointed, clean, and inviting. Everything was really just exquisite!

The house is in a slightly secluded location but wasn’t too bad, had a few of nice restaurants and a Walmart within about 20 mins. I think it was 30 mins to the Hard Rock Casino. The house has a ton of space for hanging out, a huge table for group meals etc. There are some good views, the beach is super close and really nice. We went out to the beach multiple nights although I think it’s supposed to be closed at night. It’s a very nice quiet neighborhood. Plenty of parking we had 3 cars and a large pickup with plenty of space. So 5 cars could probably fit fine. There are a few steps from parking down to a really nice patio with nice mood lighting and a good bit of seating that the host provides cushions for. They have a fairly nice propane grill but it’s not on the patio, it’s on the side of the house down a pretty tight staircase. But it’s still accessible and easy to use. The patio is however just off the very nice kitchen and one of the bedrooms also has a sliding glass door to the patio. The outside shower is really nice for cleaning up after the beach and the entire house has an incredible hot water heater and large spacious showers. At one point we had all three showers going for probably 20-30 mins at least and no one ran out of hot water at all. Water pressure decreased slightly but hot water held out no problem. The host was super responsive and pleasant. Gave us recommendations for restaurants etc. for sure try Taquilla and Tacos. Great tacos and strong drinks. Checkout procedures were very reasonable and easy. For sure would stay there again!!! I paid for my group of 10 adults 24-37yo and all of them were super impressed with the house and I felt like for such a large nice space for a great price.

House was great for our family of 8. Beds were comfy and house is fully stocked with everything you would need. There is a very short walk across road to Miller Beach. Nice family trip!!!

Can't beat the location if you want to be close to the beach, but the house could use some improvements to make it a 5 star stay. The Good: Great location, super short walk to the beach Bathrooms are updated and clean Updated kitchen is nicely laid out, clean, and well-equipped. Dishes and glassware were in good condition and there are plenty of them. Mattresses are very comfy and sheets were soft Towels are white, fluffy, and clean, and they look fairly new The house layout provides nice separation for bigger families/groups Basement is bigger than it looks in the pics - there are 2 lounge areas plus a table with chairs, and a small wet bar with a mini fridge Outdoor shower is great to rinse off after the beach Outside spaces are nicely landscaped and have plenty of seating Plenty of toys, a wagon, floats and pool noodles, 3 umbrellas and 4 folding chairs for the beach are in the garage - a couple more chairs would be nice. Owner was very responsive via text to all my questions and seemed to be very on top of taking care of any issues Hand soaps, toilet paper, sponges, dish soap, paper towels are provided. There was also bar soap, makeup remover wipes, and Poopourri in the bathrooms. Neighbors were friendly and nice The Bad: The only TV in the house is in the small lounge area on the lower level Couches, chairs, and bedspreads need a cleaning as they had quite a few stains The grill is situated in a small cramped area down a few steps between the house and the neighbor’s house, so we didn’t use it, but it looked new and it’s a good size The house next door is very close Lower level does not have an easy exit in case of fire. The back door has been sealed shut, and the garage is closed with a latch and padlock. No beach towels are provided Flooring changes height (approx 1-1.5”) in several areas of the house, which is a tripping hazard Strong musty/mildew-y smell throughout house Lower level bedrooms don’t have blinds or curtains Limited space for hanging towels in the bathrooms No blinds or curtains in the kitchen or living room A/C seems undersized and the house was warm on the hottest days we were there (temps in the mid 90s) Owner asks for 2 loads of towels to be washed/dried and folded before checkout No bathtub in the house

Elena's home is so nice and had a lot of amenities. She was prompt and helped us out tremendously. A beautiful view from their house.

This property is situated perfectly next to a public but very private beach access path and it contains all the amenities to support time at the beach including a wagon and buckets for sand castles. It's laid out well to keep the sand outside including an outdoor shower to rinse off. The other highlight of the property is the big cozy beds that are really nice and typically had to find in a rental. We had a large group of 9 (5 kids 4 adults) and slept really well. Downsides of the property are that it is much more worn than the pictures show. It's evidence that it's a heavily utilized rental which is understandable but some things like the couches and chairs could be updated. The water pressure was weak and electric were kinda strange but I think it's an infrastructure issue more than the house. There is only one TV which may be good or bad depending on your perspective. The neighborhood is pockety. There are beautiful homes in the neighborhood but trying to find restaurants or groceries nearby is a pretty ghetto experience. Plan to have to drive about 20-30 min for anything other than pizza. I would rent it again. It really was convenient, clean, and the beds were cozy.

I absolutely love this rental. The property is amazing and spacious. Everything is top of the line. I appreciate how the owner takes the time to explain everything about the property. 3 full bathrooms plus and outdoor shower!!! She is so generous with allowing us to use all beach items too!

This is a great house for family and we were about 25 feet from the beach. The house is lovely and the property owner is fantastic. I only wish we had a fire pit to roast s’mores!

We had ten women stay for my cousin’s bachelorette and this place was beyond perfect. If you want a lake house but are burnt out on seeing super-expensive, dated places with the same cheesy, generic beach decor — tchotchkes, turquoise pillows, etc — THIS is your place. It’s special. I don’t know Elena’s background but this is the home of an artist. Every inch of it is thought-out and curated, from the beautiful, natural, high-quality materials to the plant sculptures to the abundance of original art. It’s giving understated luxury… warm, comfortable minimalism. It’s bigger than it looks in the photos. Very clean. The open concept kitchen and dining area is heaven to cook in and has every pan and platter you could possibly need. The beach is literally across the street and can be seen from the windows so don’t let the desire for beachfront deter you. I am sincerely inspired to level up my decorating after staying there. And Elena - love her! She could not have been more responsive or helpful. Even suggested a good resto - The Goblin and Grocer. I can’t recommend this property enough and hope to return. The property was perfect for 7 adults to stay comfortably. We loved the kitchen, the backyard, and the proximity to the beach!

We enjoyed a short family getaway almost right on the beach. Enjoyed walks exploring the area and grilled on the BBQ and dined in the spacious dining room. Everything was immaculate and communication very good. Some wifi problems but that was not the owner’s fault as there was an area outage after some high winds. I recommend this for larger groups wanting to experience the beaches and dunes.

We had a great time spending our weekend at this property. Located very close to a beach, this property provides a great get away from the city. You can even see the lake and Chicago skyline through the main windows. Thank you for allowing us to use your property. Just an FYI, Keep your toes safe from small step in the basement.
