Ambiance amicale, échanges sympathiques, lieu décontracté, ce qui est grandement le bienvenue après des journées de randonnée, plein de bons conseils des guides qui travaillent sur place, bien maintenu, beau concept.

Good option for a friendly and not expensive accommodation.
You need a car to go to services such as restaurants and ATM. However, there is a pharmacy offering basic food.

Nous avions une chambre confortable avec salle de bain privative. La convivialité de la grande salle commune. La proximité du gros morne et des randonnées du parc national. La mise à disposition. D’une machine à laver le linge .

The shared spaces were very open and comfortable. The staff were keen to welcome everyone and get quests involved and active. The adventure tours seemed well planned and organized. The room was very comfortable. The patio was relaxing and the gear shop was great for providing outdoor essentials for enjoying the park. The fresh crusty bread was amazing!

Wonderful price, very friendly staff, and an adorable feline roommate to greet you in the mornings in the main common area.
Wonderful location if you plan on visiting Gros Morne or surrounding parks/area.
Lots of information via the staff and brochures.
Access to a full shared kitchen and living space.
Walls were a tad thin, but was honestly expected with the territory of it being a shared living space vs a regular hotel or motel

Clean, colourful. Staff guy was friendly and helpful. Chatting with people.
TV in the middle of the common area. Distracting and becomes the focus. Reduces interactions with other humans. The TV was noisy when we wanted to sleep and chill quietly.

For the most part, I liked the set up of the facility. It appeared to be bright, open and relatively clean. The bed and pillows were great. I loved having the option of a separate room with its own toilet. Great location.
I felt the kitchen area could be cleaned way better than it was. I understand that it is a communal kitchen but, as we all know, not all users are good users. I’m curious to know why the staff on duty didn’t clean the kitchen to ensure that other guests would have a clean kitchen experience?
I also noticed that much of the laundry (bedding) was folded in and on the main living area (the couch). Shouldn’t this be done in a more sanitized area?
As for the staff that were present this particular day, not sure how things operate regarding the guides, front desk person etc. Not sure if they were actually on duty or had the day off or a break??? However, they were in the living room area having wine and watching a movie. Not sure who was “on duty”. The reason this bugged me is because, the kitchen was dirty: dirty dishes in sink, dishes on the drying rack that needed to be put away, garbage/ recycling that needed to be changed…grimly fridge door handles. I mean, if they have time to watch a movie, they have time to clean the space for the guests.

good facility, lots of opportunities to book hikes, paddle boards etc.

It was simple, basic and very relaxed ! There is a large common room where people, mostly serious hikers, can gather and exchange experiences. The atmosphere was very relaxed and communal as a Youth Hostel should be. It was a good stepping stone for getting to the Deer Lake airport in the morning.
Since it was late September, it was cold in the room and there was no heating. We helped ourselves to towels in the back supply room since there was none in the room.
