Comfortable, spacious, beautiful grounds, lovely porch/sun room
10.0
The cottage was very comfortable and the grounds were peaceful and private. The location was perfect. Definitely recommend.

The place was filthy. Kitchen tablecloth probably never washed grease on tea kettle, dirt on floor. Coffee grounds on top of machine. Junk in a lot of the drawers. Just a mess! Rustic is one thing, but this was dirty. What’s the sense in paying a cleaning fee if the place isn’t clean

We absolutely love staying here- so much so it’s our second time, and hopefully not last. The owner is really kind and welcoming. The home is beautiful. Thank you!

First the good: great location, communicative host, check-in and check-out process, fun decorations, and a warm bathroom floors.
The bad: There is a bit of mixed info online in regards to bathrooms and rooms. Part of the issue is I think the barn accommodations and the composting toilet are an add-on. The accommodations part was clear, but with 5 women, another toilet would have been an asset (pun intended).
The ugly: I think the cleaning folk are letting a good host (and guests) down. It was apparent that rugs had not been vacuumed in a while (former guest’s old contact lenses were on the floor and rug in the middle bedroom) and that room also smells of dog urine. My friend who stayed in that room suspected it might have been in the mattress.
The 5 of us had planned on spending two nights here during Sheep and Wool. In the end, only two of us stayed the second night. Again, I hope the host finds a different cleaning person… because I really enjoyed what this house might have offered.

Upon arrival my wife found a stripped bed with no linens that fit, comforter and blankets on the floor. (The owner sent her agent with linens to the house and made the bed.) The carpets in each bedroom, bath, and kitchen (especially) were filthy. The filters to air conditioners were caked with dirt, I had to clean them myself, The ceiling fan was also caked with dirt on each fin. 2 bedroom closets were packed with balled up bedding and junk so no available hanging space. The master bedroom hamper was filled to the top with dirty laundry. The windowsill above master bed was filled with cobwebs and dead bugs. The floor corners in the bathroom were caked with black dirt, hair, and sludge. The shower curtain had mold spots. Just filthy. The owner asked me to turn down hot tub which I tried to do but the control would not work for me. I've been renting VRBO for 14 years and never left a bad review. This is a first. Oh yes, we did leave dirty dishes in the sink (something I never do) because the owner was adamant that we conserve water and I figured we were covered by the 312.00 in fees we were charged by this host. Come to think of it I would think a refund is in order.

I had a great time staying here! There are so many activities to do around the property and to end our night in a hot tub was amazing each time! The only complaint we had was that there were a few dirty dishes placed in the cabinets. There is not a second bathroom, but there is an outhouse that is not able to be used. The renovated barn is cute but we did not use it. And the beds listed is not completely accurate. The listing says there are 3 queen beds, but there is 2 queen beds and 1 full sized bed. Overall it was a wonderful experience!

Fantastic getaway
First, I never got to meet the owner, but I spoke to her briefly. She is incredibly kind and responsive - and that just set the tone for the rest of the trip. Her home reflects her care and hospitality, going above and beyond to assure comfort and an overall good time. The home itself is gorgeous- the pictures that are posted do not do it justice. My favorite part of any vacation is having time to sit and read - and her sitting room is the ideal place to do so. We also had our dogs with us, and this is the perfect pet friendly home and property. Thank you for everything and we already look forward to coming back!!

Great location, cozy cottage
This cottage is close to everything the area has to offer, and the owner was very responsive and friendly. The only thing that would have made it better would be a cleaner house. Many of the pots and silverware was dirty, and the house felt cluttered.

Quick ski get away
Diane was great about communication. The listing still indicated in multiple places that there was a hot tub. She did call us right away when we booked to tell us there was no longer a hot tub. I did see that a few weeks later there is still no change to the listing- so be warned. There is NO hot tub. The house is cute and was perfect for a weekend away to ski at Bellayre. Very close and easy to get to Woodstock. We would stay here again.

Owner Very Attentive
The cottage is super quant and my family had a lot of fun on our stay. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because the people staying before us did not take care of the property as they should have, and the cleaning person (newly hired) did not do their job. Despite this, Diana was very responsive and reasonably tried to right all the issues we had. Thank you again to Diana for letting us stay at your property!

Nice, cozy inside. Outside less than advertised.
I first want to say I’m appreciative the owner and her sister last minute changed their plans and made the house available to me as I had a last minute cancellation from another owner before our trip. The inside of this place is nice and cozy as advertised. The “sunroom” for lack of better term has great views and offers great breezes. I could see the fireplace being amazing in the winter. The backyard however has definitely been neglected since the posted pictures were taken. The “new cedar deck” is not new at all and has not been maintained. Similarly practically all the outdoor furniture is also unmaintained and dirty. The landscaping also falls into this category. The only real reason to hang out outside is the hot tub, which also has some maintainence problems. This may not be a big deal for some people but our plan was to spend 90% of our waking hours outside and the posted pictures made it look like a paradise so it was disappointing. This would be a perfect winter house as you would only be outside for the hot tub anyway.

Excellent location
The location of this property is excellent for exploring the Catskills. The house is charming and comfortable, but there is only one bathroom, and the refrigerator is tiny. We really enjoyed the sun room. We did lose our security deposit because we were told we left a heat mark on the table. I did not realize that had happened - we were very careful.

Close enough but far away
Close enough to Woodstock to enjoy the town but far enough away to be in the woods. The hot tub is a nice touch, and the long dining table is great for family and friends.

Ashokan Rail Trail close by and town of Woodstock had many cute stores and retaurants/coffee shops.

Refreshing long weekend getaway
My wife, 12 year old daughter and 4 year old son had a great time unplugging for a few days. Hot tub was a favorite! Great location just down the road from Woodstock. And our dog couldn’t get enough of the fresh mountain air! Good communication with the owner. Would stay here again

Cozy Retreat
The house was very cozy. Great for a winter stay. Lots of places to hole up, under a blanket, with a book. Tons of sunlight pouring through the windows. Fireplace and hot tub were perks. The long dining room table made for great meals and conversations. Close access to some fun walks/hikes and close to the town of Woodstock. Fridge was a little small and water heater banged a bit but those were minor inconveniences....

Second stay. Better than the first.
Our return to this cottage was as great if not better than our first visit 9 months ago. This time, our family of 3 (2 adults, 1 pup) spent 2 weeks roaming the mountain towns of the Catskills, cooking, shopping,
hot tubbing and sitting by the amazing fireplace. This mountain cottage has quickly become our favorite escape from Brooklyn. Convenient to many towns, cozy in the fall/winter and well appointed for a long stay. Will return asap.

Perfect spot for a long getaway
We spent a month and a half at Diane's. We had a very relaxing time being there, enjoying our coffees in the garden in the morning looking at the chipmunks running around. The house has all the amenities required to live for an extended period. Internet speed allowed us to work remotely as well.
If you're coming from the city, don't forget, you will have to live with nature! You might see fawns, squirrels, mice, or even a bear! Diane was lovely, prompt, and very communicative for all the small issues we had. Enjoy the house!

Never wanted to leave.
Between the location, the well appointed kitchen, hot tub under the starts and the piano - I was dragged out of this place by my husband and shih tzu. It was
an absolute perfect long weekend getaway from the city. Check in was easy, Diana was responsive leading up to the weekend and we had zero issues once we arrived. Looking for my next opportunity to return.

Charming home. Owner was very helpful. Cleaners could have done a better job especially considering the high cleaning fee.

Amazing place to get away!
My girlfriend and I wanted a relaxing romantic weekend getaway to celebrate her birthday and Diana’s lovely cottage was the perfect place to do it. Check in and out were insanely easy and Diana made everything super easy - she responded quickly when we had questions and was very accommodating. The house is awesome and filled with all kinds of great stuff; the hot tub is amazing; the fire place too; and we loved the hammock. Would 100% stay here again if we ever had the chance!

Woodstock Experience
What a fabulous time we had in this property! The inside was clean and truly made you feel as if you were experiencing Woodstock and hippie living. The outside was not kept well, seemed as if it was not maintained in a while. The hot tub was a huge hit with my kids! Again, the inside was amazing! Just first impression of the outside was yet to be desired. Was extremely close to town which was helpful and made the experience even better. Would definitely come back! Thank you to the owners for a wonderful stay:)

Cute Cottage for Getaway
This house is really cute and comfortable. It is tucked into the woods just off of an intersection at Old 28. It was an easy drive over the mountain road to Woodstock. It is close to 28 for access to Phoenicia, Esopus Creek, Woodstock Brewery and not too far off of the main highway - but far enough. The hot tub was a major bonus. There aren't trails for walking or hiking right outside the door - in fact the area is not very pedestrian friendly - but you can easily drive to trails nearby. Diana was really easy to reach and very helpful when we had questions.
