Cozy Lakefront Cabin, on Beautiful Nantahala Lake
Une grande évasion de lac, c'est juste ce qu'il dit. Échappez à votre vie effrénée, rythmée et stressée. Venez au lac et détendez-vous sur l'un des trois ponts ou à l'extérieur dans le bain à remous donnant sur le lac dans une crique tranquille; à deux minutes du lac principal en bateau. Pagayez autour du lac sur les trois kayaks disponibles ou sur le canoë !! Si les soirées sont un peu froides, allumez l'un des deux foyers à gaz (un dans le grenier, un au rez-de-chaussée).
Nous sommes à proximité du parc national de Great Smoky Mountain, du parc national de Nantahala pour la randonnée sur les sentiers des Appalaches et de Bartram. Le centre en plein air de Nantahala pour le rafting, le kayak et le vélo est à seulement 45 minutes en voiture.

Cherrise was pleasure to deal with. The views were amazing, kayaking on water like glass. After 34 years together my husband and I were totally alone and had we had a wonderful time. Thanks for the memories.Jeannie's homemade carrot cake jam was excellent!

I regret to say that our experience at this cabin was far from pleasant, despite its great location and accurate listing photos. The primary issue was with the host, whose behavior was not only unprofessional but also deeply unsettling.
The trouble began when the host falsely accused us of having more guests than agreed upon, even though we had clearly disclosed five people in the contract, which she accepted. We encountered a car issue on the last night, which required someone to stay behind to ensure our safety, as we were in the middle of the mountains with no cellphone coverage and children in tow. This seemed like a reasonable decision, given the circumstances.
However, the host responded by calling and screaming at my family, harassing them to the point of fear. She even yelled at my daughter, threatening to call the police if I did not answer her call immediately, despite the fact that I was on the lake and unable to respond at that moment. Her hostile communication made it impossible to resolve the situation calmly or effectively.
Furthermore, the host unjustly withheld our $500 security deposit, citing excessive towel use and the condition of the floor, neither of which could possibly justify such a steep charge. To add insult to injury, she accused us of stealing a ceramic bear, which was actually broken in an accident and fully disclosed to her.

We love this lovely cabin, perfect for our family of 4! Our 3rd stay and happily continue coming back! The owner is extremely responsive and helpful. The cabin was clean and just as expected. Lake front, kayaks and a canoe. We miss it already!

The description bio says it all. The owner was very easy to contact. If off-grid with modern house amenities is what you are looking for this is your stop.
Aside from the noted access to the house and the lake just be aware of the road access. To some it could be a challange but to others it is just the right amount of adventure and excitment. Recommend AWD or 4W.
The kayaks and canoe was just enough for our short 3 day stay to explore the quiet cove and also the main lake on a calm moring with little weekday boat traffic. Id recommend a boat rental if you want to see the whole lake.

Not sure if we were just lucky but I was boggled by the absolute absence of nuance bugs.
Quite time with the family disconnected from a world full of distractions was a needed change of pace. My 9yr old never wanted an electronic during our stay with all we had to keep us busy. The Foosball table provided intense competion to close out our evenings.
The night sky is unparalleled if thats what you are interested in. Not a speck of light pollution will be seen here.

We stayed for 5 days the previous year and made it a whole week this time around. We love the seclusion and just getting back to roots of being a human and not a robot. It’s a beautiful place that is fun and relaxing for both mind, body and soul. The owner is also super nice and a great communicator. I would highly recommend this rental. You’ll never forget it.

We were in the area for a wedding, and everything was perfect! Beautiful location, VERY secluded! Cherisse was great, very helpful and informative! Pay attention to her info and directions, you will be fine. Lots of steps, if that’s an issue for you! And no cell phone service, WI-FI, but that was ok! Lots to do if you want to go exploring too! We had a wonderful, relaxing time! Thank you!

We had a great time! The house was clean and had everything we needed. It was a little chilly last week, so it was wonderful to have the gas fireplace! It is located in a quiet secure neighborhood, on a very winding gravel road! Cherisse is a great host!

The Great Lake Escape INDEED!!!. Lovely cabin, beautiful surroundings, peaceful and relaxing. The mist off the lake in the mornings while sitting on the dock with my coffee was my favorite part. Cherrisse was great with communications, checking to see if we made it. She left great directions. We stopped at a Farmers Market in Ooltewah and the well stocked Ingles in Andrews before going to the cabin. The cabin was very clean, cozy and had everything we needed for our stay. We are very thankful for being able to share this sweet retreat. Thank you.

We had the best time at this cabin. If your looking for a place to unplug and unwind this is your place! The water was beautiful, the fishing was great. Great memories were made this weekend. We have already discussed booking again.

The cabin was well stocked and comfortable. With the trees and dense growth, we could not see the water - and it was quite a distance downhill to the dock. We had a real issue getting our luggage and groceries to the cabin from the car - 30 steps were too much for 70+ adults. The owner was very thoughtful and had lots of instructional notes but we just would not be able to rent again with the steps and isolation.

Lake vacation
My family enjoyed a long weekend staying at this cabin. The cabin was so clean. My boys ages 5 and 9 were on the water from the time we got there to the time we left. We enjoyed fishing, swimming, kayaking, and we rented a boat to explore the lake. It was a great time. We didn't have to leave cabin the whole time. There is no cell phone service at all but that made the weekend even better. Cherise was easy to get a hold of and made the stay a breeze.

Relax and recharge
This was exactly what I was looking for: a comfortable place to unplug from work and replenish, located right on a beautiful lake in one of the most beautiful places in NC and the U.S. Cherrise was perfect with the communication from check in to check out. I used the kayaks everyday and brought a paddle board as well - super easy getting everything in and out of the lake from the dock.
I would suggest to examine and print out detailed directions to the cabin ahead of time to compliment whatever navigation app you're using, just to have some backup in case google maps falters once you lose cell service. Loved this place and can't wait to go back!

Peaceful getaway
Cherisse’s cabin is the perfect place to come disconnect from everything. We loved the view and enjoyed spending time together, kayaking, and fishing. If you have time while here be sure to kayak to clear creek falls and hike the trail to get to the top, it is beautiful!

RELAXING GETAWAY
The property was perfect, secluded, quiet with breathtaking views! Cherisse was absolutely fantastic she checked in on us the first night to make sure we got in okay and everything was fine with the cabin. Truly a Great Lake escape!
The property was better than the pictures! Cherisse followed up with me several times to make sure if i needed anything to call her. She advised that the steps may be slippery due to the weather. Once we got to our cabin, which was easy to find.. we walked in and it was so nice! She had a welcome book and a very small gift for us. Cherisse put everything we needed to know of the cabin in a binder, local activities, groceries, etc. The entire cabin was well equipped with everything we needed. Rooms were very spacious and beds were comfortable. It was nice not having wifi for a few days. We did end up not being able to turn on the fireplace (we’re from Miami- we don’t have fireplaces lol) but, i called Cherisse and she guided me on how to turn it back on. I would definitely stay here again. Cherisse, thank you for being such an amazing host with an amazing beautiful cabin, can’t wait to stay here again!

Perfect escape for our family
Really cute cabin to get away from everything. We loved paddling around, relaxing and renting a pontoon boat at the nearby marina. When we would start up or down the mountain we'd roll down the windows, go slow and just enjoy ride. So peaceful here!

Relaxing lake escape
We had A wonderful time at the Great Lake Escape. It is tucked away on a quiet cove, but also close to the middle of the lake. The setting is really tranquil and peaceful, making it a great location to relax. The cabin is well appointed and has everything you could want amenity-wise, except for cell or internet service, but to us this was a benefit. Totally recommend the Great Lake Escape!

Very nice property, hard to get to as final roads were gravel and not well marked, but it is in the mountains, also lots of stairs getting to dock which pictures don't really show but cabin was very nice and had everytihing we needed, closest town is about 45 min away, lots of winding roads..Lake was very nice and clean, not much luck fishing off dock but there is a marina nearby to rent boats and it had a nice little restaraunt

We enjoyed our stay and Cherisse was very easy to work with. She had us call to check in so that she knew we were safe and she called before we left to be sure that we enjoyed our stay. I will say that this cabin is very secluded so it’s quiet and relaxing. I was looking forward to unplugging but realized that without WiFi, I was also without gps until we got to the foot of the mountain where I have a cell signal. Having WiFi at the cabin would have been helpful to know which way we should go down the mountain. That’s nothing against the rental though. Just something to consider if you plan to visit different places in the area. We would love to stay here again and have already shared with others.
