2 of the lifts were not working, which meant you were always waiting for a lift to get to the 5th floor. The communal toilets were filthy, not really the fault of the hotel, but of the guests staying there. We had upgraded to a junior suite, but were told on check in that the room was unavailable.

The room was so clean and well presented, staff were so lovely and so helpful. Our room overall was stunning in a great part of the hotel and was so spacious, such a stunning venue and all the facilities overall were more than up to standard, exceptional to say the least.

Honestly that we couldn’t stay longer! Such a beautiful place.

Requested twin beds but had a King instead. Wasn't a huge issue.

Lovely room, fantastic size and all the amenities were perfect. The extras in the room were a nice touch (vanity set in bathroom, shaving kit, hot chocolate etc) which we thoroughly enjoyed use of. The pool was lovely and relaxing and great that it was included in our stay. Friendly staff and ideal location too. we parked in the car park and the price exceeded our expectations. We were very happy when we got the pricing for the car park.

Would’ve been nice to have dressing gowns and slippers already in room as we felt bad phoning down and asking. We paid extra to check in which was a bit annoying as didn’t get use of it due to traffic so only really checked in 1 hour 30 before 3pm check in and was still charged the full £90 for early check in, seems a bit expensive. We didn’t like the duvet also, was hard and annoying to sleep with

What was really frustrating was the the pool and spa closed at 9 pm (as I recall) every night!! That is way too early for a bustling city. Every day we tried to make it to the pool/spa but we were never able to make it in time so we missed out on that key amenity. They need to have it open later.

In general, the hotel is good. It is located within the Royal Mile in Edinburgh, positioning it in the city center of the Old Town. The New Town is also conveniently close, just about a 10-minute walk away. Edinburgh Castle is not far either, making the hotel's location very advantageous. The breakfast is good, although it can be quite crowded, especially during the last hour of service. The room was clean, and the room service was helpful. The hotel building is historic, but the interior is modern, giving it a special vibe.

Reaching the hotel from the train station is difficult on foot; it is preferable to take a taxi. Additionally, during check-in, we were informed that the reception would be available 24/7. However, we called multiple times and did not receive an answer. Lastly, although there was a space for a fridge in our room, unfortunately, there was no fridge present.
