We loved staying at Jua House which is in a very good location in Shela. Breakfast was served on the very nice rooftop terrace and was delicious. The staff is very professional and organised. Airport pick up and drop-off was smooth.

Having AC in the bedrooms would have been good!

J'ai choisi Jua House en me basant sur les commentaires élogieux concernant l'établissement mais je dois admettre que j'ai éte un peu déçue. Le logement est agréable mais sans plus. La taille de la chambre était un peu petite et encombrée. Le vis à vis avec un autre hôtel en face est un peu gênant en terme d'intimité. Nous avons été particulièrement dérangé par les rideaux blancs transparents qui n'occultent en rien la lumière du jour, réveil donc très matinal à l'aube.

We werden bij de boot opgehaald door twee medewerkers van Jua House. Dat was direct een warm ontvangst. Ons gehele verblijf hebben we ontzettend genoten. De B&B was prachtig. Alle elementen kloppen, de energie is heerlijk. Elke dag keken we ook weer uit naar het ontbijt en de zoetigheid om 16 die uit eigen bakkerij kwam. Dank voor dit heerlijke verblijf, ik zal het iedereen aanraden! Ohja en de douche is de fijnste die we in Kenia hebben gehad, jammer dat lang douchen geen optie is op het eiland…

Magnifique établissement, décoré avec soin, très bien entretenu et propre (pas de chaussure dans toute la propriété). Les chambres sont grandes tout comme les espaces communs. Le personnel est très serviable (ils s’occupent des valises depuis et vers le port), et nous réserve toutes les activités. Le petit-déjeuner est personnalisé et d’une qualité vraiment exceptionnel (ils font leur propre pain et tout est fait maison). Tous les jours à 16h ils offrent le goûter (thé / café et pâtisserie). Les repas sont partagés sur une grande table avec les autres clients et cela crée une superbe ambiance. Les deux terrasses au roof top sont géniales pour se détendre et la vue est vraiment magnifique!

Alentours de l’établissement assez bruyant (autres habitations, écoles, mosquées). Pour aller dans les détails : il manque des rideaux occultants (soleil dans la chambre de très bonne heure) et les coussins n’étaient pas très confortables.

We loved the vibes of Shela and the Jua house itself. We met some really nice people from all over the world there. Our overall experience was great - the rooms, the service, the cleanliness…Lovely, spacious rooms and beautiful design of the hotel with attention to every detail. The rooftop terrace is great to hang out during the day and also in the late afternoon. Great 360 view around where you can watch the sunrise or the sunset. Breakfast was amazing. A wide variety to choose from even for vegetarians. Tried different juices every morning and all of them were so good. Jua house is a short walk to the port where there are plenty of restaurants, boats, and some souvenir shops.

Just a few little things: - We didn't have a mosquito net in the bathroom and there were a lot of mosquitos in our room every night. - The bed in our room was very authentic, so probably that was the reason it was very squeaky.

Beautiful rooms, interior, breakfast and tea time cake were exceptional too! Great sunrise views!

Location but can’t really do much about that now! Also lots of construction and what feels like curtains have to be closed constantly because neighbours would /could look directly in!

Jua House is a beautiful B&B, the traditional and modern mix decor is awesome and the rooms are very comfy. The breakfast is incredible - Jua House has its own bakery, and the staff are the greatest stars of the show.

It was perfect.

Breakfast is great. Having breakfast with other guests on the upper terrace was great fun. Afternoon tea time is also nice in the same way.

If there are slippers or flip flops in the room, that would be great, because we take off shoes inside the hotel building.

3 rooms share a big common dinning room with one small fridge that was under operating Rooms very small,windows open without a net,so flies all over and fans not helping so much Price of 120 euros is extremely high for this room,actually i would pay less than 40 compare to european standards

Stunning Swahili architecture with a modern twist. Friendly and attentive staff. Afternoon coffee and cake on the rooftop was a highlight. Breakfast is delicious. Best hotel of our entire trip! And the rooftop ended up being one of our favourite places to be in Shella.

Staff were attentive and place was clean. I’m the heart of shella and everything was quite accessible.

Water pressure was poor-and the hot water remained cold.
