We had visited this little village once before so we knew the area. The apartment is situated in the village on walking distance from restaurants, bars and a few very small supermarkets. The one called 'La dispensa' was quite cute with a friendly and helpful owner and had a nice offering of local stuff and vegan and ecological products albeit very expensive. We were thrilled that he had vegan Ben and Jerry's until we found out that it was priced at 8 euros :( ) Keys were left in the door which was fine. Contact was done through whatsapp. We did not meet the host or anything. Love this village because it feels less touristy than San Jose but it's still a short drive to all the amazing beaches <3 It was the second time we visited the restaurant La Madragora in San Jose; still great and with a good offering and understanding (no cross contamination) of vegan food :)

The apartment was on two levels and very awkwardly built. The stairs was located directly behind the front door. We were not made aware of this and it scared me in hindsight since my son was the one to step inside first (we arrived in the dark). I would not recommend this place for small(er) children. There was a low stone construction next to the staircase that was open underneath. definitely a no no for families with crawling babies/toddlers. The place wasn't really clean. Bedding and duvets were old/worn. But we all slept really well :) No towels or tea towels in the kitchen and we did not bring our own so ended up using one of the bathtowels to dry the dishes. Overall the place just didn't feel loved. The shower was extremely hot and couldn't be adjusted; we eventually found out that the only way to use it was to open the sink faucet to hot and leave it running while you showered. Sidenote; The whole reserve is just breathtakingly beautiful but the drive to get there is through enormous areas of plastic covered greenhouses where some of the people working there have built shacks and live in extreme poverty. Driving in from the north you also pass an overwhelming amount of pig barracks that come with the horrible stench of their feces and the knowledge of the animal exploitation happening there :(
