We stayed in a large family room with fur bunks. Before we visited, I was not sure whether a hostel and shared bathroom would work out OK for us but I really enjoyed the experience. Being a hostel, it had a lot of shared space (with a snooker table, kitchen facilities, sauna, communal room) and the bathrooms were big and clean. It was quiet and we never felt crowded. There were multiple communal spaces split across the different floors including a large outdoor patio. You can order breakfast (bread, croissant, ham, cheese, egg, porridge, yogurt and juice) ahead of time and it appears magically in your fridge. There are tea and coffee making facilities and a microwave which are always available for you.

This is a hostel so if you want luxury, this may not be for you. The beds were bunks and the bathrooms were shared but this was part of the fun. A little walk away from town but convenient for the station.

Could have been cleaned better

The large sauna apartment is great for a group of friends or family. Easy to check in with lockbox and pin code. Basic kitchen is useful.

Suits fine for overnight on the way to Lapland. Our room had own bathroom and that was nice. Nice sea side park for walking trips.

Does not have dedicated parking spots.

Everything is absolutely clean - I love it. The electronical access to the room is perfect - you do not need any key. It's quite close to the station - perfect for people travelling with public transport as I do.

I've got a lot of mails in advance - every day two of them. At the end I didn't read it any more - too long, in Finnish and in English. When I arrived, there was no "welcome" or something like this. An unfriendly young lady only said: You have got a mail - everything you find there. Okay. I've learnt my lesson. In my room there was no table, nothing else, where I could put my wet towel. The living room could be nice, but the ventilation and the heating/air condition are too loud - so no place to stay longer than necessary. They have two sauna, but one didn't work...

For being a hostel private room I was very nicely surprised at how spacious it was and the bathroom as well was very spacious. The bed was comfortable and it was very warm - there was still lots of snow outside and arriving to a nice, warm and tidy room after a 7hr train ride from Helsinki was great. Walking around Kemi was very nice, got a sunny day and there were options for eating out or going to the supermarket and cook at the hostel. It was quiet and would stay there again if I visit Kemi. It was very close to the train station, but if you go in winter it will take longer to walk to the hostel if you have a suitcase with wheels like I had as the pedestrian footpath was covered in snow.

The only thing was the shower was a bit wobbly because it wasn't fully attached. Apart from that, the room was comfortable and clean.

We enjoyed our stay in Villa Kemi! The location is perfect to go for a walk at the seaside and explore Kemi's recreation area! The famous Snowcastle (also the 365 days snowcastle experience) is very close and a nice walk through the idyllic park. You can also explore everything in the city by walking from Villa Kemi. The building has charme..it's partly a little bit old fashioned inside (the design and the kitchen downstairs)..but it's cozy and clean. They offer free coffee in the common area and free tea :) The beds were comfortable, we slept well....Villa Kemi ist a place you really can recommend (the location is so nice!) !

good location

We spent the night there with two families on December 20. In the middle of the night, a bald Japanese man entered my daughter's and mother's room, using a door code that should be private in every room. The man entered the room and started to undress when he noticed that there was another person in the room, not only my little sister, then he quickly left. I informed the person in charge of the hotel about the situation. They promised to look into the matter and call back, but they never called back. definitely not a safe place to stay if other people can come into your room used your private door code.

place needs some renovation and A VERY GOOD cleaning (dirty kitchen, bad smell)

The room was already ready a bit earlier; check-in goes by a code which they sent you when your room is ready; they have two saunas and you can get free tea

Location very good. Personnel very kind. Peaceful

super friendly welcome, I arrived with a bike and there was immediately made room for it insise the hostel! very clean, very comfortable & nice rooms and living room, big kitchen & super nice and clean bathroom! loved it there!
