El desayuno muy malo no estaba listo a la hora indicada, hormigas en el jugo, la atención en general deficiente. No lo recomiendo.

Obiekt w miarę spokojny i dosyć czysty. Łóżka były wygodne i komfortowe.

The reception is open 24 hours, there is a private parkingspot and the hostel is really clean. There is good wifi and a smart tv. Clean rooms with private bathroom.
The bed was quite hard.

Breakfast was filling and tasty enough..
A cheese and ham toasty usually, with some scrambled egg.
Juices were fresh and delicious.
Coffee was ecuadorean and instant so not like nescafe in taste.
Air conditioning good and reliable except for a few hours one night. Indispensable in this humid climate.
TV had good offerings as well. Security is good in this hostal.
Quite a few "sharp edges" and easy to slip up on the tile floor transiting from the bathroom to the bedroom.
Take care!
The staff do very well to keep this large and solid building clean, but inevitably you will get mosquitos and the occasional roach

The room was perfect and exactly what I expected; included TV and air conditioning! It was awesome and the staff was very, very nice.
The water did not work after the toilet was flushed; the sink nor the shower would turn on. Apparently the power went out which caused this and the WiFi to not work, however, the same problem with the water persisted that morning and it was not possible to brush my teeth or wash my face or comfortably wash my hands which really wasn’t a fun experience to deal with.

The staff were friendly and helpful. I requested a blanket because it helped sleep better.
Breakfast was tasty and good.
Location was a bit far out from the main beaches.
Barking dogs at night and early morning.

Perfect for one night before a flight! They have a fridge with drinks that you can buy from even if you arrive late! We arrived in pouring rain and the owner still helped us with our suitcases. Both are super friendly and helpful! The breakfast was really good and the price is more than fair!
It is a bit old and we had a lot of mosquitos in our room, but for the price it's still really good

We could pay with credit card. Stuff is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was okay, we even asked for extra coffee and that was free. Rooms were clean. There was laundry for extra pay.
Location is not very convenient. And there were no plate “don’t disturb” (sometimes it’s very important when you want to sleep and don’t communicate with people))

the breakfast was 10/10 and the staff were great! helped accomodate a late check in, laundry and baggage storage
was little off the beaten track but only a 20 minute walk to the beach close to busses and a 5$ taxi ride from the bus depot

Very clean, good lighting, spacious. When they found they didn't have the single room with two beds that we requested, they gave us two rooms at no extra charge.

The Location is very nice. Right outside you have the Bus number 17 who drives along the coast in the city (mall, terminal, playa).
The Lady is super friendly and helps you with all. The room is very clean!
The commun kitchen is dirty and does not have a lot of things..

It finally turned out to be ok. The hotel was clean. The room was fine. The staff were nice.
When I arrived for my reservation at Naufrago 1, they said there wasn't a room for me. The hotel was full. I showed them my Booking.com confirmation information, and they said there were people staying at the hotel who needed an additional room, and they gave them mine. This is not ok. I've used Booking.com for many years, and this was the only time my reservation wasn't accepted. The person working called the owner, who drove to the hotel to talk to me. He said it was a holiday, and there were no other hotel rooms available in Manta, but he could offer me a room in his other hotel, and drive me there. He was very nice, and took me to his other hotel. But I was quite annoyed that they had my reservation, and gave it to someone else.

Clean, comfortable bed, helpful and friendly staff. Mu question at the end of a stay is “would I
choose to go back?” and in this case the a answer is a definite yes. Great value for the price.

We liked this hotel so much the first time that we booked it on our way back thru Manta a week later. When we arrived Luis, the owner informed us the heavy rains the night before had caused problems with the electricity and air conditioning. So he took us to his other hotel location. Hostal El Naufrago 2. It is a work in progress, so there were some things incomplete, like no curtains on the windows. Luis and Raul were extremely accommodating in letting us change rooms twice. The mattress in the first room was too soft for my husband's back and the second room was right next to the road and street lights, so noisy and bright, especially without curtains. It is a beautiful old building and once it is complete it will be a gem. The location is its only drawback as the street is busy most of the night. But with hosts as terrific as Luis and Raul and their families, we felt like honored guests.

Can't say enough nice things about this place. Luis drove us to a place to eat the night we arrived. Breakfast was freshly cooked and delicious. Luis and the staff (family?) treated us like welcome guests in their home. The location is set back off a main road so the traffic noise is minimal. The room was basic and super clean. There was plenty of hot water, not always the case in Ecuador! Some reviewers noted it was noisy and I can see how that could be depending on the guests staying at any given time. But it was quiet when we were there and the bed was comfortable so we slept very well. Luis called a taxi for us the next morning and waited and chatted with us till it arrived.

The staff of Luis and Maribelis were great. They took care of us and the breakfast here was wonderful. Would highly recommend this place to anyone. It is in a great location and only a few minutes from the Mall Del Pacifico.
The noice at night sometimes woke me up. Many dogs out barking and some partying around the hotel.

No breakfast option during this time, solely self catering.
The wifi was a bit slow, but fundamentaly kept me in touch with outside world during these precarious times .
Cleaning was a bit patchy as the owner was in Quito.
However the cleaning lady did the best she could.
This is a good place to stay, near the university and hospitals.
Total lock down after 2pm which is strictly enforced, unlike the UK where I come from.
This curfew is more strict than any experienced in pre cold war Warsaw pact and the USSR.
Do not come here for the foreseeable future.
Maybe August might be OK for South American citizens, but for flights into Quito or Guayaquil then please forget these options if they are advertised and save you some money on non existent vouchers or flexible rebooking.
Ecuadorean people here in Manta are in a similar position to tourists like me.
They are OK.
Supermaxi and Mi Commisariato are the best places to shop for food and essentials.
However thee queues are very long and can take up to 3 hours just to get into the store, which is well equipped.
You have to wear all ppe.
Be disinfected at the stores entrance.
Nothing else is open up to 11 May except for a few grocery stores which have to close by 1430 hours.
However, since I arrived here on 14March 2020, some businesses are slowly reopening.
A cyber cafe in my locale opened three days ago.
Tell that to my embassy in Quito, where they think I have access to all sorts of scanners, mobile phones, movistar Sims etc.
Here in Manta!
No public transport for the foreseeable future.
You can walk in the blazing heat or take a taxi for $1.50 for short journeys.
Lock down is in force from 15 May for another 30 days.
As I understand it fro their semaphore or traffic light system.
There are no flights in or out of Ecuadorean airspace, except for humanitarian/or repatriation flights organised by some tourists still stranded here in Ecuador.
There are some cargo fligjhts to GYE or UIO but of no use to us.
