Clean and friendly.
They say air con and turn it off more than it is on, was very difficult for respiratory when we only look for places with air con. This wasn’t the power outage this was the actual staff turning it off - this became a frustration.

The staff absolutely SLAYED. The vibes were IMMACULATE. The memories made were UNMATCHED.
The damn road! Definitely not the fault of the hostel, but the local government needs to improve their roads. Nonetheless, definitely coming back cause the vibes were VIBINNGGGG

Staff were nice and friendly
18 bed dorms (not mentioned on booking.com). Ants and a cockroach found on my bed. Sinks in toilet area stink (no door into toilet/shower area), staff put incense twice a day to try cover smell. You have to walk 5/10 minutes from the main road avoiding potholes filled with puddles to get to the hostel. There is a large tree which hits against the dorms roof during rain or wind making a large bang which kept waking me up. Air conditioning is turned off in dorms between 12pm - 5pm. Hot water in dorms was shut off due to the significant rainfall while we were there (hostel runs off solar). You have to bring your own toilet paper.

The staff was super nice, the hostel has an area where you can do yoga, stretch or workout, even tho it’s a 18 bed dorm it doesn’t feel like it at all and there’s nice people staying there. Since it’s not a party hostel it’s quiet from 10pm at night which is nice.
The road to get to and from the hostel is a nightmare which is such a bummer considering how great the hostel as itself is.

I like the ambiance, the staff are friendly and nice. Definitely i will comeback.

Clean and beautiful looking place. Nice to hang out in
The owner was a bit precious about saving money. No toilet paper, you have to pay for water refills, and he refused to lower the temp on the air con.

bed was really spacious and comfy. The staff were very hospitable and friendly. The location was a bit far from where the central is (party, market, restaurant) but very accessible when you have rented a motorcycle or less than 10 mins for tricycle, but this provides a quiet and chill environment,
the road going to the hostel is not yet cemented so its very muddy when its raining

One big family - guests and staff
4.5
The hostel had such a nice atmosphere. Right from the beginning we were welcomed with open arms. A few times a week there was a family dinner which was very nice.
The amount of people in the room. However, the rooms are so spacious so it doesn’t really matter.

The property is nice. The area is clean and they have a restaurant open from 8am to 5pm.
It is very far from the main road that tricycles don’t want to go there. The road is rocky and muddy. They also turn off the air-conditioning from 6am to 6pm so it’s hard to sleep if you plan on working at home and sleep in the afternoon. They also turn off the lights at 11pm so you cant work even in the pool area or lobby. Not ideal for digital nomads. I booked 4 nights but only stayed for 1 day.

Lovely staff and amazing ppl. Perfect for chilling and also party.

Absolutely beautiful cafe! Food was amazing every time.
Nothing could fault Hiraya!

Loved the staff!! Felt so comfortable there, especially if you stay longer
Showers and no toilet paper hahaha
4.5
social vibes, the family dinner were amazing
the showers and toilets are inside the 18 people dorm are really noisy. Only cold water in the showers there. no AC during the day time, it’s too hot to stay in without AC

Aesthetically pleasing hostel, with nice pool and a cafe for breakfast and coffee with very good prices. Huge clean rooms, and comfy beds. The vibe was also very nice and friendly and couple of times per week there are events in the hostel and small parties.
The road from the main road to the hostel is very bumpy and at the end steep. Also I would prefer privacy curtains

Traveling solo for the first time was nerve wrecking but Hiraya helped big time to unleash the outgoing kid in me. Dorms are spacious, everything was sparkling clean, good food, but most specially - they arrange really fun events to make friends with everyone at the hostel like family dinners, island hopping but more like a drinking party nyehehe. Thank you everyone, you were all so kind and fun. I will surely come back as it felt like I found a home in the island!! 🫶🏻🥹

The people made me feel part of the family. Jomes, Raff, Camil, Brian, Loloy, Jason, Waffel, Sophie... and all the others are sooo great in fulfilling wishes.
All the family has the heart at the right place.
Boat trips, surflesson, scooters, family dinner, all the Aktions where great.
Beds are super new and very comfortable.
In the night it is really quiet, so good to sleep.
Easy to meet other travelers.

Amazing hostel, the staff, the vibe, just everything was perfect. Almost every single guest was trying to extend their stay at Hiraya, I myself stayed a week longer. Good times!!
The road up to the hostel can be challenging during rainfalls but youre getting used to it
4.5
Very good place to meet people !
Top beds are very highs! Also curtains would be good.
The path to access the hostel turns into a river when it rains.

We were originally booked in to stay here for 3 nights but ended up staying for a whole month! this is hands down the best hostel we have stayed at because of the amazing staff and the community feel you get here. Cafe on site serves banging spring rolls 👌 staff help to arrange surf lessons and put on weekly events, there is something going on almost everyday - things like boozy island hopping, family dinners and beer pong competitions. The beds are so solid that sleeping in a dorm with so many others doesn’t matter because you get a great sleep anyway. Probably the most comfortable dorm bed I’ve had in all of Asia. We loved this place so much and we can’t wait to come back again. Also the cutest dogs ever!!

peaceful
the shower the pressure was too low

Really nice and social hostel
The showers didn't work in one dorm. But apparently it's fixed now.

Staff were nice and friendly. There's also a cafe inside the hostel and they serve nice food. If you're into surfing, it's super close to the surf spots like Jacking Horse and Cloud 9! Amenities were basic but clean. It's a good place to stay if you plan on being out the entire day.
If you can't drive a motorcycle or scooter, the hostel is hard to get to... especially when it's raining and it gets really muddy. It's quite a walk from the main street and is a bit away from where the "night life" is.
4.5
it was homey.
like most of those who commented before me, the road going to and from the accommodation is the main headache especially when it is the rainy season.
And also, if only the other guests are strictly following the "shoes off" policy in the sleeping area, it would have been better.
4.5
perfect for solo travellers to meet people and there’s an activity almost every day! the staff are great at making you feel welcome and they’ll always try to help when you need it. if you’re looking for a place away from the noise, this place is just that. the swimming pool is a nice place to take a dip. the dorm rooms are so spacious and even though it was only 2 shower rooms and 2 toilets, there were only a couple of times when I was waiting. the common room is a nice place to chill and play cards :)
the road leading to the hostel is very rough and bumpy but you kinda get used to it (at least for me)
4.5
The vibes and we could sleep really good in the rooms with the AC
The bar and activities were a bit expensive, and the access to arrive with the rain due to the path condition it's a bit difficult.
4.5
I like the cleanliness
What I don’t like, first the location it’s very far from the highway and it’s muddy, second the people from other room they will use our toilet, third the air condition it’s not cold and sometimes they will turn it off, lastly they’re check out is very early around 11am
4.5
No locker, no toiler paper, very bad road to the hostel.
4.5
Its a nice hostel, next to Cloud9 and the staff is cool. The breakfast is nice too. They provide scooter rental and surf lessons which is cool
The road to get there is awful especially in rainy season. You are guaranteed to be dirty at all times. There’s no light outside that road as its not in the main road so you have to get a scooter yes or yes. Please note this is not their fault but does make the experience not so enjoyable.
The fact that that they charge for water and dont have toilet paper is a downside for me. Especially when coming at night from the bathroom you need to go buy yourself in the road mentioned above
