El ambiente relajado. La tranquilidad para descansar. La playa contigua.
El escaso menu para escoger. La ruta para ir a la playa contigua muy peligrosa, deberia tener varandas para agarrarse ,
Muchas moscas.

Paraiso Azul Retiro is a lovely pousada, isolated from urban life to enjoy the nature of Ilha Grande. The facilities (hammocks, sunbeds, pool, sauna) are great, and rooms get a sea view. The breakfast and food at the restaurant are amazing. There are kayaks made available to access the surroundings (Bananal, Lagoa Azul).

staff attention is excellent, specially Luana who took care of every detail to make our stay superb

This property is exactly as it is advertised- a little slice of paradise on Ilha Grande. The staff are lovely, the location is great to explore the island, the facilities are perfect for relaxing and the food/drink options were great and reasonably priced.

A really special with amazing and friendly staff. Food was excellent.
A bit more cleaning needed sometimes.

This location is perfect for digital detox and amazing nature. Therefore we chose the location. WIFI is only available in the main house and there are no TVs in the room. And it's good like that.
The staff is very lovely and helpful, starting with a warm welcome at the boat pier. The nature is just amazing. The lodge is within the tropical forest with a small beach directly at the lodge and a bigger wonderful beach 4 min by foot. They offer free kayaks which you must use to discover the other nearby small, lonely and often hidden beaches on the islands. For Yoga lovers they offer courses and have a fully equipped huge room. Everywhere you find hammocks in which you can listen to the waves, the forest and drift away.

The island is amazing, very relaxing. The food was very good but had a limited menu, to be expected when it is that isolated. The rooms were small for 3 people, but all had nice balconies with chairs and hammocks.

The prime location, isolated from anywhere else with the perfect sunsets, the lovely yoga space, they have kayaks for the guests to discover and all the staff were extremely nice and helpful

No gym, breakfast and good in general could be improved

This place proved to be the paradise it promised to be on paper. Fantastic quiet location in the forest close to the water and incredible sea views from your room. A really well designed resort, ideal both for relaxation and for active holidays (hikig, canoeing etc.). Food is great too with a varied and heatlhy menu. Portions are very generous. Make sure you visit the islands in front which are only a short canoe trip and explore the amazing hiking trails nearby. And do not forget to bring moquito repellent!
The only things that should improved in my opinion are the maintenance of the pool/sauna area and additionally some of the staff looked really bored and unattentive. Too often you feel like a ghost, not a customer.

Comfortable and clean room with gorgeous views.
Friendly staff.
Relaxing and romantic atmosphere, we appreciated the private beach and the kayaks.
- the swimming pool advertised is disgusting, the mosaics are coming off it and the water is as dirty as a thick soup
- bathrooms do not offer toiletries, bring your own shampoo or buy an expensive set from the reception
- food quality is good and portions really generous, however, the menu never changes. The Pousada is really secluded and there is no other choice.

The room was very dirty, the linen, pillows and bed cover has stains on them and smell very badly. The room has no working lamp, the side tables it was a just basic small chair. Fridge was broken and unsafe as the water was licking and been on the floor so I have to put towel and unpluck to not be shock by electricity. Toilet was diecasting- after doing your bits- nr2 you couldn't flash the toilet paper as it will be block the toilet so you have to put in provided bin next to. !!!!! Shower was very dirty and not much powerful at all. No safe for your belongings, and no WIFI in room at all. Towels was replaced every two days !!! The pool water was horribly dirty and it was missing tiles so outside you have a sign that you can swim under your risk. Total disaster, we should stay there 3 nights but unfortunately after one night it was more then enough.
The beach is was very small and have a black sand. The sunchairs was broken and as well dirty. The reception area have a two sofas and that's all. If you allergic to dog hire please be aware that they sleeping on the sofas and leaving so much hair on it.
You can walk to the other beach but no signing to help you where the road its goes, We try to find it but end of the day we give up.
The other thinks that we don't like that the bar and WIFI was shut at 9pm, as the staff was leaving the island to other places/homes. No stuff to care about the guest at all. Shocking really. The kitchen food was good but nothing spectacular.
Unfortunately I will not recommended this place to anyone at all. Shame as the island its beautiful. Especially when you take a bus from Rio to Angra dos Reis ( 4h as the traffic was big ) and then one hour by local boat.
Everything to be honest. Such a shame.

The staff and food were the saving grace of this hotel. Very kind and helpful staff, and truly delicious local home cooked food. The beach was also really nice (although furniture a little worn/limited) with lovely views.
We felt very baited and switched by this hotel. It was clear the room and facilities are in dire need of improvements and didn’t match the photos. The room itself is very bare bones- two side tables, a bed, a hanging rack, and fridge. No dresser, no bed side lights for reading, and outlets are only on the side of the room with no furniture so you’re left to charge your devices on the floor. Bathrooms have no shampoo conditioner hairdryer etc. Our room hammock was broken, lights were broken hanging from the ceiling. The sheets were paper thin and stained, as were all our towels…and there was no mattress cover protector on the bed. The sheets didn’t fit the bed so they kept sliding off and we would wake up touching the bare old mattress. These are minimum expectations we would have of even a 2-star hotel, and this one claims to be 4 star.
We were really shocked with the terrible condition of the pool and hot tub, one of the big reasons we chose this resort. Half the tiles were completely missing and the water was murky and green. We did not feel safe using it.
We also paid for a private boat day to explore islands (about $1000 Brazilian) and although it was beautiful, the boat itself was extremely gritty and didn’t compare to all the beautiful other boat rentals we saw people using while hopping around, but they still charged the same price as them. The boat transfer is dirty and if you miss the ONE option a day, you have to go from paying $200 Brazilian for a couple to $450 for a private transfer, so be aware of that.
Lastly, our room wasn’t sealed properly. We’ve stayed at remote island hotels all over the world (vietnam, Thailand, etc) and so we know bugs happen, but there were giant cracks under all our doors. We chased cockroaches and even frogs out of our room.
This is really an overpriced rustic retreat for backpackers, not a 4-star resort and this truly did not match up to any of the other amazing hotels we stayed at while in Brazil.

This hotel is perfect. Stunning views, especially in the restaurant which overlooks a private beach, particularly beautiful at sunset. The staff are exceptional - they were on hand to make our stay perfect from the moment we stepped foot on the hotel pontoon. We were particularly grateful for Luana and Yasmin who were incredibly helpful. Luana went above and beyond to make our stay special - particularly on my birthday. The rooms (we stayed in a few) were clean, individual, all with stunning views. The hotel offered complementary yoga classes - we had a private class - and these take place in a magnificent studio overlooking the sea. We also paid for a massage which was an incredible experience - highly talented masseuse and the bed was set up overlooking the sea with the sound of waves and the jungle as a backdrop. Cocktails and food both fabulous, particularly the cocktails which were made with such care by the brilliant Bruno. The hotel offers free kayaks and beach towels, and complementary water in the room - these added extras, all for free, were the finishing touch! All in all, a very special place and an absolute must visit on Ilha Grande!

beautifully secluded, you get a feeling you are in a paradise
I wish it was better connected to other parts of island, but not needed for a few days trip

A really cool place to rest. Away from town and outsiders. Calm and “private” beach. The staff was very gentle

Great location with very friendly stuff! Room was very clean and we loved the private beach. You can take the trail behind the accomodation and experience a bit of jungle and a near village. They also offer kayak for free so you can explore the nearby beaches. I would say it's great value for money

location is incredible
the common areas need to be restored, the pool is in a very bad shape (unusable). the price to value is not great, but you’re paying for a prime location. if you go in the summer, beaches nearby are going to be very crowded.

Gorgeous facilities, rustic but comfortable at the edge of the rainforest with a sea view. What more can you wish for? Good breakfast and overall menu for lunch and dinner. We definitely took advantage of the kayaks and snorkeling gear, only thing missing would be the swimming flippers. Great to have the blue lagoon just in front of the hotel. Just make sure you go early before the party boats arrive :) You can also book massages, I tried both the regular and the Thai one - warmly recommend both.
Nothing worth mentioning

The service was wonderful and all the staff were very attentive and friendly. The installations were all top notch, the location was absolutely fabulous and the food was delicious. The free for use kayaks were are wonderful bonus.
The weather was very dreary and wet but this didn't diminish the experience and the enjoyment.

This place is breathtaking, everywhere you look is so beautiful, it feels like you are inside a tropical oasis. Great place for a honeymoon. Great place to just relax
Something they can improve is to maybe separate the reception area from bar/kitchen and have someone there especifically for hotel issues/inquiries. Also, It is isolated so do not expect more entertainment or other options nearby, which I don't think is necessarily bad.

Our little bungalow was right by the water with an amazing view to wake up with.
The staff was super friendly and the host Monica took really good care of us.
It is a little piece of heaven on earth and I can highly recommend to stay at Paraiso Azul — we will definitely come back! 💙
No complaints!

Our balcony's view was amazing! We loved the food and the background music in the restaurant, the sauna, the pool, kayaking to Lagoa Azul and the two cute little beaches nearby.
Nothing - one tip: Lagoa Azul can get too busy on weekends and you can hear the loud music from the boats. Try to go during the week, not weekends.

Nice hotel on a secluded beach with comfortable rooms and nice small restaurant. Couple nice hikes from the hotel and the manager also arranged several great boat say trips for us (snorkeling and diving). We will definitely come back to stay here again...

Location is amazing. Common eating area and meditation area are wonderful
Swimming pool area is old and falling apart. Needs renovation. Tiles are falling off and one can get hurt.
There is a terrible smell of sewers entering and around room number 8. If you are offered such room I suggest you ask for a different one. Sometimes I fell like puking. Not a nice experience :(
