Lage war sehr gut Frühstück reichlich und vielseitig mit hausgemachten Rühreiern Zimmer 1 großräumig mit sehr guten Betten Vermißt haben wir Kartenmaterial z.B. Stadtplan und Radkarten Ein Tresor wäre vorteilhaft

Lage, Lage, Lage. Nirgendwo in Deutschland liegen Hotels schöner als an der Südstrandpromenade in Wilhelmshaven. Direkt an der Nordsee. Schlafen bei Meeresrauschen (manchmal) oder leisem Plätschern (meistens), der Blick auf die Jade, die Luft, alles zusammen glatter Wahnsinn. Ich habe jahrelang in Wilhelmshaven gelebt und bin so oft am Südstrand spazieren gegangen. Habe dabei immer die Hotels bewundert, die inzwischen seit fast einhundert Jahren ein einmaliges Ensemble mit der Promenade und dem Aquarium bilden. Jetzt lebe und arbeite ich leider sehr weit weg. Aber das hat immerhin den Vorteil, dass ich es jetzt rechtfertigen kann, im Hotel am Südstrand zu übernachten. Schön ist, dass das Hotel Seerose nicht so exorbitant teuer ist wie die anderen Hotels an Wilhelmshavens Schokoladenseite, von denen es inzwischen ganz schön viele - fast schon zu viele - gibt. Das Hotel Seerose ist familiengeführt, geschmackvoll, aber kein bisschen mondän eingerichtet und macht einfach Spaß. Ordentliches Frühstück und nettes Personal runden den absolut positiven Eindruck ab. Ich werde garantiert noch oft im Hotel Seerose übernachten - falls ich nicht doch wieder ganz zurück nach Wilhelmshaven ziehe.

Die Hotels auf der Südstrandpromenade in Wilhelmshaven gehören ohne jeden Zweifel zu den schönsten der Welt. Die Lage direkt an der See und das einmalige architektonische Konzept der Promenade mit ihren sympathischen kleinen Hotels, Gaststätten und dem Aquarium sind schlicht einmalig. Schön, dass das Hotel Seerose als seit Jahrzehnten familiengeführtes Hotel noch nicht so übertrieben teuer ist wie die anderen Hotels rund um Wilhelmshavens Schokoladenseite. Dafür ist es etwas einfacher ausgestattet, aber das macht durchaus auch seinen Charme aus. Das Personal ist supernett und freundlich. Insgesamt eine tolle, entspannte Atmosphäre.

Ich wünsche der Tochter der Betreiber, dass ihre Eltern nach vielen Jahrzehnten bald ihren Ruhestand genießen mögen, damit sie mal ein bisschen frischen Wind in den Laden reinbringen kann. Zum Beispiel so kleine, aber wichtige und heute eigentlich selbstverständliche Details wie Soja- oder Hafermilch zum Kaffee.

Location is superb. Check-in was painless and contact-free (proprietor had phoned us with instructions on how to locate our room key upon late arrival). Fabulous balcony view is directly over the promenade and water. Hotel was easy to find and is an extremely easy walking distance to the Maritime Museum and Aquarium. A very welcome complimentary bottle of water was provided. Bathroom was very clean and recently renovated. Water pressure and hot water were both excellent in the shower. Upon checkout the staff kindly allowed us to remain parked at their facility while we attended a nearby event (it was for no more than an hour).

Sadly, the hotel is neglected and shabby. The carpets and upholstery might be clean, but it was impossible to tell because they are so worn-out. Long past due for an update. The room needed an airing upon arrival, as there was a stale odor. The bed was hard as a rock, the pillows entirely unsubstantial, the linens yellowed in the bright morning sun. While the bathroom was clearly recently renovated and very clean, it was also the size of a standard coat closet and strangely offered very little space for personal items (one small shelf over the sink, no shelf in shower and not a single hook for hanging clothes). Tiny TV in an awkward space to the side of the bed. Wifi never worked. We didn't bother with breakfast. Potential visitors should note that there is no elevator and you will have to carry your baggage up at least two flights of stairs. Lots of hall noise penetrates the room.

Very friendly and helpful staff. As the hotel is right on the promenade we had a lovely view to the sea and enjoyed sitting outside the hotel in a Strandkorb having waffles and a nice drink.
