The room is fantastic, it looks so authentic and has so many pleasant interesting details, such as tea table, electric fireplace, very comfy beds ( our room has 3 large ones) beautiful decorations, warm floors and even heated toilet ☺️.
The staff were very helpful and nice. We are really enjoying our stay!

Room was big, furnished in traditional tibetan style. Hotel is located in Shangri-la old town so it was easy to get restaurants and attractions.
We stayed at the Blue moon one night in December. Hotel staff gave us electric heaters since there was no heating system. No breakfast due to Covid epidemic.

Amazing place, room, and stuff. Highly recommend.
Breakfast could be a bit better

Hotel it’s built with a traditional Tibetan style, very beautiful, the rooms are big and comfortable plus the location it’s very convenient, right on the old town which perfect!!
In general the hotel is nice but they should pay more attention to the carpeting floors are very beautiful but very dirty at the same time, the breakfast options are very limited ( I personally enjoyed it but some of my friends find it difficult because of the lack of options)

Really comfortable, huge bed. The property is in traditional Tibetan style and rustic. Had an electric fireplace to make the room warm and a Japanese toilet. The bathroom was clean. The staff at the front desk was helpful and friendly.
The shower was tricky to adjust and the water went in random directions. The bathroom door is wooden so was a little rotten from the water. The breakfast was a bit limited (my own personal view, some could like it).

Good location, quiet surrounding. The room was big and with very good natural lighting. The bed was comfy, there was a proper heating in the room. We could use the washing machine to do our laundry. The bathroom is newly renovated and there is a modern automatic toilet. There is a whole set for making a tea on the table and the Wi-Fi works well.
Dirty carpets, dust under the bed-seemed like they didn’t clean there for a while. There are stains on armchairs. For our three nights stay, the staff only changed the slippers and towels once (towels when we requested). The floors gave out a very unstable feeling while walking. The guy at the reception wasn’t really willing to help us organize anything. The only breakfast option are noodles which we decided not to eat not because of a bad taste but because of the girl who kept on sneezing over the food while making them.

Decent traditional Tibetan building in a convenient part of town, close enough to the old centre to be able to reach everywhere on foot but far enough away to be out of the bustle and noise. Breakfasts were basic but tasty.
There was only one issue and that was with the carpets which are apparently swept rather than vacuumed. This meant that two in our party who suffer from allergies woke up during the night and in the mornings with streaming eyes and nose. If the carpets could be given a regular deep clean as well as daily vacuuming this hotel would be much improved.

The hotel owner was really helpful in arranging trips for us and giving advice on places to visit.
The room could have been cleaner. Only Chinese breakfast available.

The Tibetan style room had a great feel to it. It was rustic and the room was very spacious. The shower had steaming hot water and the heated toilet was a nice treat! The bed way humongous and comfortable.
Even though the hotel is not right in the old town, it is a short walking distance to the old town. The ladies who prepare breakfast each morning are delightful.
The only real downside is that the electric fireplace shown in the pictures did not work. a bit disappointed as we were looking forward to this on the chilly nights.
Also, the front desk worker was rude towards the dogs that live there as he was throwing rocks at them when they were barking. He could easily treat them better.

Quiet location close to the old town, the staff was really accommodating and helpful. The rooms are spacious and keep warm in the cool nights. We loved our stay here!

The Blue Mountains On The Moon is located in a quiet area within the Ancient City of Dukezong scenic spot, Shangri La. Therefore it's a great place to stay at if you cherish your quiet time and want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the touristy pedestrian area.
The room is decorated in Tibetan style and extremely spacious plus providing all the desired necessities like: a separate seating area, two electric heaters (so no need to worry being cold in winter), a humidifier, tea set, Japanese toilet, heating blanket, and even an oxygen generator device (in case of suffering from altitude sickness; extra payment required).
The front desk employee is very polite and provides you with a lot of local information like: recommended restaurants, places worthwhile visiting etc etc.
All in all The Blue Mountains On The Moon comes highly recommended!

The suite is fine, not super clean though.
I am underrating this property as the location shown in booking.com suited me. However that's totally fake. The property is just out of he old town, where cars can pass. The hotel manager should fix this incorrect information.

Great location, really close to the old town, but still quiet. The room was huge. But what really made my stay exceptional was the front office lady. She was tireless! I had a few problems, and she went above and beyond to help me with everything, from arranging transportation to getting a covid test on short notice. Some things would be really hard for someone that doesn't speak Mandarin. I could not thank her enough.

Traditional old Tibetan house with lots of character and charm, including creaking floors, heavy drapes in front of all the doors and a glassed in central courtyard. Very clean and the bed was very comfortable. Being there in early January, we made full-time use of the mobile heating unit to keep the room warm. The manager very kindly upgraded us to a suite for part of our stay. Breakfast was good-sized Chinese style.
It was only a 5-10 minute walk to the main section of the old town, but definitely not right in the heart of it - not in the pretty part.

Very narrow roads which makes driving into the alley a challenge.

I would love to give The Blue Mountains a 10 rating but I need to give an objective review. The hotel owner was really lovely. She was extremely helpful, offering sound advice and booking transport. She even offered (free) remedies to help ease my altitude sickness. Breakfast was good, abundant, local cuisine (not the continental breakfast advertised - unless the continent being referred to is Asia:). The staff were all helpful and very, very friendly. The hotel is rustic and offers a truly authentic Shangri-la experience which, however, may not suit everybody. The rooms are decorated tastefully in the local style and the heated toilet a heart-warming feature:) The bed was really comfortable and the location of the property is great (10 minutes from the centre of the old town). It was quiet and the local people extremely friendly. In sum, if you are after an authentic, rustic experience, you won't be disappointed.
Not all features listed were included in the room (e.g. safety deposit box - although it wasn't needed, Kitchenware, alarm clock, etc.) but it seems very possible that they would have been available on request. There was only one near the bed socket and only one bedside lamp. This meant only one person could read in bed. Whilst these may seem minor details, they did detract from the comfort. Editing the list of features would avoid future misunderstandings. The rooms were a little dusty and the logic of some of the fixtures and fittings (e.g. lack of curtains in the room with the castle view, the glass doors between the shower and toilet in the 2nd room with stayed in) is strange but only slightly bothersome.

The local breakfast was delicious and filling and cheap.
The owner of the hotel went out of her way to help us. She rang drivers to find us transport. She rang hotels for us. Any problems or questions she has, she helped us find solutions. She was wonderful.
The rooms are beautiful too. There are so many beautiful authentic features. We had an electric fire in our room which was lovely in the cool mornings.
There's nothing that we didn't like.

In old town. Excellent manager who helped me with transport from airport, arranged taxi and ticket to monastery, etc. really good person. Room was quite comfortable and in good central location.
All good

The room was spacious and decorated in Tibetan style, fully equipped to answer literally every need. The bed was comfy and impressively big. The breakfast provided was good.
The room was located on the found floor facing a construction site outside, which didn't feel particularly reassuring (for a solo traveller like me I suppose) as one can easily jump in and out the room from the windows if one wants. The bathroom could be cleaner.

A beautiful hotel in an incredibly old building! We loved our stay here. The whole feeling of the building, the creaking of the old floorboards and the thoughtfully designed interior just made the entire experience of Shangri-La for us. The lady at reception was incredibly welcoming and kind, she also helped book us a taxi for early morning to the airport!
The location is perfect, with only a short stroll away from the main square. It's tucked away from the tourist area, meaning you can get a good nights sleep without being disturbed!
Some suggestions for the hotel:
- Hanging racks for towels after the shower
- Hand wash in the extra bathroom
That's all! Thank you for a wonderful stay!!

Everything about this place is very authentic. We stayed in a family room and absolutely loved this room. Beds are comfy, good bathroom, lovely fireplace. There's a small play area with lots of Lego and building block, my four year old loved playing with those and it gave us some peace and quiet too.
Location is great, breakfast is large but local.
Bathroom could do with a deep clean

The family room is spacious and the double bed was gigantic! The location is good, there is a nice Chinese restaurant right on the corner. Western restaurants The Flying Tigers and Compass are a short walk away.
They only offer simple Chinese breakfast. The heavy carpets on the floor might not be good if you have dust allergies.

Room was large. Everything worked in the room. Decent breakfast. Not far to walk into town.
Never anyone on duty! Service was reactive. Room and the hotel generally were somewhat disorganized.

Very nice owners. Speaking english. Room are big, very clean and extremely cosy. The owner helped us book train tickets and accompanied us to the train station. Recommanded a good restaurant and helped us select what to do during our stay (Balagezon National Park, and it was awesome). Very close to the ancient city (3 min walk) but in a more quiet area.
The only negative point would be the breakfast (traditional chinese, that would not be a problem though for those who enjoy it ^^).

The host is not just good, she is amazing! She made us feel welcome, helped everywhere she could, gave advice, booked tickets and what not!
The location is perfect, the interior is strikingly beautiful and there are two cute dogs that only add to the hotel's charm.
We'll definitely come back here! Thank you!
It would be great if the carpet on the floor was cleaned.

I stayed in this hotel with my family including two children..... We enjoyed every bit of it. Shangri-la was frozen outside but the room was very warm and cozy. The staff is very helpful and gave us all the information about the local sightseeing and also provided a good taxi to take us around. I recommend this hotel to everyone.
Only concern was breakfast which was not continental and everyday the same.
