Betty”s Vineyard House was very comfortable and just the right size for our group of two couples. It was well-stocked, and everything was in good working order. It was a great location for exploring the parks in the area.

My husband and I travel a lot, and this was by far the cleanest vrbo and kindest host we have ever experienced! The air conditioning worked great, and the location of the house was tucked away in a quiet area behind a vineyard. The home is very well kept, and has everything you need. Beth is a wonderful and kind host, they let us arrive a bit early and check out a bit late too! The beds were very comfortable, and the wifi worked great. Highly recommend this place!

The property manager was awesome. We were very pleased with the property. The pictures are very accurate and the house has equipped with anything you needed. We enjoyed the short walk to Alto Vineyard and fishing in the pond behind the Vineyard. We will definitely stay here again.

This is our second stay at Betty’s Vineyard. Our first grandson lives nearby and although this trip was just the two of us we still wanted the space and comfort of home. As we were in town for a week, we were both able to work remotely without any issues. Everything is well stocked, clean and comfortable. The house sits off the road for privacy, peace and quiet. We will be returning!

Lovely! The house was everything we hoped for. Plenty of room inside and outside. Great setting for sitting outside, sipping some wine and relaxing at the end of the day, or sitting inside wayching movies when it stormed outside. Extremely clean, big bedrooms and bathrooms.

This was our second stay here. Comfortable cottage with everything we needed. Beds were comfortable and we appreciated the tea selections! Photos online were accurate. We would stay again!

The house was very well stocked with all the essentials needed. The only issue was lack of window treatments in the living room which made for very bright mornings. The host was very accommodating and quick to respond to our questions .

We loved our stay at Betty’s Vineyard. We were expecting our first grandson the week of the 9/19 - 23; he decided to arrive 11 days early. Beth was amazing at accommodating our rescheduled dates. Morning coffee while watching the sunrise is the best way to start the day. The rooms were comfortable and large. The master is large and can fit the pak n play comfortably as well. The internet has been updated and we were able to work in between baby snuggles. As a mom of 5 (only one was with us; in addition to the one we were visiting) laundry has become a soothing chore. Being able to come home with no dirty clothes is a major bonus too! I love that some cleaning supplies were left accessible as we had the kids over for dinner and you want to be able to clean up after yourselves. They used the fire pit, while we snuggled with our grandson on the couch. We will definitely be returning soon and can’t thank Beth enough for accommodating our needs.

This house was great for me and my friends! We did the wine trail and this was perfect for us.

My family and I chose this house because the pictures made it look homey and comfortable. When we arrived the house was even better than expected. We absolutely loved our stay here and would definitely stay here again when visiting the area. It was very clean and well kept. Thank you to Beth! We had a great weekend!

Everything was perfect! Smooth checkin, beautiful, clean home. Kitchen was well stocked. Bedding, towels, and toiletries were wonderful. Fire pit was awesome. Only thing I didn’t love was the mattress. It was a bit uncomfortable. Location was awesome for hiking and wine trail. Nice being on the vineyard. We would park at the house and walk over to Alto at the end of every afternoon, have some drinks, and walk home. We highly recommend this home and plan to come back with friends.

Was pleasantly surprised by every aspect of the property. If I could give more than five stars for the cleanliness I would. Incredibly thoughtful with the amenities and supplies. It'll be the only place I stay when in Southern Illinois!

We usually go to Herrmann,MO every 3-4 years, but decided to do something different this year. As far as wineries went, decent variety, and fairly close to each other. If you go during the week, pretty slow, and most close down about 7 if they are open. As far as the property, this was the cleanest VRBO we've ever stayed in. Would unhesitatingly recommend to stay here. Quiet, private, easy access, all same level. The owner checked in with us a couple of times, and even refunded (un-asked and not expected) part of our fee because our friends didn't travel with us. Thanks for the use of your house. We will stay here if we ever come back to the area.

Great location to visit southern Illinois wineries, restaurants, and outdoor amenities. The house is fantastic - spotlessly clean, well-equipped kitchen, comfortable bedding, and outdoor seating on front and back decks. An easy walk to Alto Pass winery and tasting room and central to other wineries. The owners were very helpful - there was a minor, regional power outage at our arrival, and the owners had notified us of the problem and the utility company's estimate to repair before we arrived. Would absolutely return.

Visited for the weekend to experience the wine trails in the area. Beth's place was a fantastic find. She is very responsive to questions, and, most of all, the place was above and beyond my expectations. A lot of thought went into making this a wonderful place to stay. Very well stocked. Nice porch in front and deck in the back, making morning coffee extra special. Made lots of use of the firepit. Love the concrete floors. Whoever stays here will not be disappointed!

Perfect location, clean, and pretty view of the Alto Vineyard while sitting on the front porch. Beth was a great host. We hope to be able to visit again soon for another hiking and winery hopping adventure.

This was our second stay here within 3 months! We loved it so much the first time as a couple; we returned with our daughter for the autumn experience. It’s a beautiful, clean, private home in a great location! Close to all of our area favorites (Alto Vineyard. Hickory Ridge Vy, Feather Hills Vy, Scratch Brewery, Giant City for hiking, Vulture Fest in Makanda, Iron Whisk for brunch…) and this time we even drove all the way to Mermet Swamp for bird watching and stopped at the Cache River Basin Vineyard. Also enjoyed the Quetil Trail in Alto Pass. We packed in a full 4 days of activities (4th day was on the way home) and lucked out with the weather avoiding all the rain that was forecasted and enjoyed beautiful autumn days with a mix of sunshine. I highly recommend Betty’s Vineyard House! It’s so comfortable and clean and has everything one needs to just relax and have a wonderful time.

Betty’s Vineyard House is perfect for a fun weekend away with friends! We enjoyed the convenience of the house being located on the vineyard. Beth was SUPER nice and accommodating when we had an issue (nothing to do with the house), couldn’t ask for a better property host! Great vacation rental! BVH was in a great location, well appointed, and very comfortable for our stay. Communication with owner was excellent. Also, being located right next to a great winery was a huge plus. We definitely took advantage of the close proximity! Would happily stay here again in the future.

My husband and I are frequent visitors to Southern Illinois; both for the family-history connection and simply because we adore the beauty of this area and all that it has to offer! This was our first time staying at Alto Pass/Betty's Vineyard House and we couldn't have been more pleased with the fantastic location in respect to all of our favorite attractions. Beth was wonderful to communicate with an everything was perfect! Easy, efficient, check-in and check-out. A quiet, private location set back from the main road, and yet - simple to get in and out of for excursions. We were there celebrating our anniversary and the first night after check-in, we walked to Alto Vineyards next door which is just a quick jaunt out the front door and to the left along the grapevines. :) We enjoyed the comfortable bed, the lovely, personal decor (history) that sets this house apart from others in the area, the well-equipped kitchen for cooking, the comfortable couches, the little extras like fresh flowers on the table/shampoos/conditioners set out with nice towels, the lovely landscaping along the front and side of the house which gives it more of a feeling of being a HOME instead of just a vacation rental. I really appreciated all of the many details! There are nice rockers on the front porch and the back deck is really wonderful for grilling, enjoying a fire, and taking in the spectacular view of the night sky without annoying lights to disrupt the star view. I highly recommend this lovely home to others!

This house was perfect for a four gals wine trip! The house was so clean, LOVED the floors, they’re beautiful! Two bathrooms, two bedrooms! Wonderful back deck for early morning coffee drinking. Perfect spot to stay as the farthest we drove for a winery or dinner was 25-30 minutes. We will definitely be back!

We had a great time at the cottage for a birthday weekend of friends and a weekend of wine tasting. Great location for visiting the Shawnee Hills. Very well appointed and clean. We would love to come back often!
