Attractive Terraced Character Cottage In The Heart Of This Popular Village
Une jolie maison mitoyenne de caractère au cœur de ce village populaire, imprégnée de caractéristiques traditionnelles telles que les poutres d'origine, le sol en ardoise et les murs en pierres apparentes, mais imprégnée d'un design intérieur élégant, de tissus fabuleux et d'un mobilier luxueux.
Après une rénovation complète en 2014, les propriétaires ont tiré le meilleur parti de cette propriété, mélangeant moderne et élégant avec un mobilier et des équipements de très haut niveau, ce qui en fait un chalet vraiment luxueux. En tant que «traiteurs indépendants» très expérimentés, les propriétaires ont accordé une grande attention aux détails et aux besoins de leurs clients.
La salle à manger spacieuse peut accueillir six convives confortablement à l'avant du chalet avec des fauteuils de chaque côté du poêle multi-combustibles. Salon confortable avec de somptueux canapés, un sol en ardoise d'origine et une cheminée au bord du lac avec un deuxième poêle multi-combustibles, tout pour rendre ces soirées devant le feu encore plus agréables.
Les portes du salon mènent à une salle de petit-déjeuner lumineuse et spacieuse avec des portes pliantes sur une terrasse ensoleillée et une cour fermée, une excellente façon de commencer la journée!
La cuisine lumineuse et bien équipée est plus que appropriée pour aider à la restauration pour des vacances indépendantes.
Du premier étage au premier de nos chambres, toutes avec TV. Un double confortable à l'avant du chalet avec coiffeuse et armoire coordonnées et une chambre double à l'arrière (à côté de la salle de bain). La salle de bain de la maison se compose de doubles lavabos et d'une double douche et WC, d'un grand rangement et d'un système stéréo interne avec éclairage d'ambiance au sol.
À l'étage supérieur de la chambre principale mansardée avec murs et poutres apparentes en pierre du lac. Un lit king-size luxueux, une télévision grand écran et une grande lucarne pour observer les étoiles la nuit font de cette pièce la préférée!
En raison de son emplacement central, toutes les commodités du village de Bowness sont à votre porte, ainsi que de nombreuses excellentes promenades à proximité qui peuvent être démarrées directement depuis le chalet et vous permettent de profiter des beaux points de vue de Brantfell et de Post Knott.
En plus d'un parc national, le Lake District a reçu une reconnaissance mondiale en 2017 lorsque l'UNESCO nous a accordé le statut de patrimoine mondial! Quelque chose dont nous sommes extrêmement fiers.

We enjoyed the well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and, most of all, the wood heat.

We had a great stay in Bowness. The property was so well set up and stocked. For our family of six, we had plenty of room and the home is beautiful. Tracy was great to deal with and communication was top notch.

Cottage was so lovely, clean and comfortable. Close to town centre with bus stop at end of road if you wanted to travel further. Every possible utensil and device was in situ. Would definitely return.

Just a perfect stay in a lovely cottage, roomy, clean & excellent location with free parking. We thoroughly enjoyed staying in the cottage, from walking to local restaurants & bars to relaxing to Netflix movie night in the cottage. Thank you Windermere we will be back.

Ideally located to access Lake Windermere, Bowness-on-Windermere village and the surrounding area without having to use your car. A good selection of shops, bars, pubs and restaurants to suit all tastes within easy walking distance.

Great little apartment for a family or three couples. Close to ferries and drive/bus to whatever walks take your fancy! Plenty of restaurants/bars within a short walk and a great supermarket less than 100m from the front door. The kitchen is fully equipped to cook up a storm if you prefer to eat in and relax infront of the large TV. Hope to return again to visit

We arrived around 5.30pm, to a very cold cottage. Upon reading the guest pack, it became clear the heating is only allowed on between 7.30am to 10am, and 6pm to 10pm. That's OK we thought, the guest pack advised a starter pack is left for the wood burning stoves. No such luck. So, we walked into Bowness for a drink. Upon getting back to the cottage at 9.30pm, it was evident the heating hadn't come on. This problem was eventually solved by ourselves Saturday morning when my wife drove out and got some firewood. After an email sent Friday night, I believe the management company entered the property Saturday daytime, and found the previous guests had messed around with the heating timings. The heating was then fixed. We have a 72 year old woman in our party, who had to double up on her duvet to keep warm Friday night. I would add that the management company entered the property on Saturday whilst I was asleep alone in the attic bedroom. Had I awoke, this would have been very scary. The overall cleanliness of the property wasn't great. I was reminded via email to strip all the used beds prior to leaving. I was also questioned via email why I would want the French doors opened when we had been cold the evening before , and was reminded of the high cost of heating in this country right now. If you don't mind very strict rules, and heating at certain times, this is the place for you.

Great location and kitchen
All the basics provided in a great location for transit users. Bus stop to everywhere and the train station is a 6-minute trip. Perfect kitchen space for making your own breakfast before setting off on adventures. Do use the Picnic Cafe up the street for your fell walk packs; fantastic quality and value.
Caveats: At first I was a bit put off by wall to wall carpet, scratchy towels, and plug-in air scents, but these were well counterbalanced by the sunny and well appointed kitchen and open-air breakfast room.
Advice: Get a lesson from the owner via text about how to actually use the (very complicated) clothes washer/dryer; then pop your towels in to fluff them a bit after you unplug the air scents. Always close the pivoting glass shower door toward your body so you don’t splash the floor. Bring shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner; none to be had here.

Excellent location for exploring the Lakes
Lovely property furnished to good standard with comfy beds - great location in middle of Windemere- can get everywhere on foot with great choice of pubs and restaurants - struggled with finding a free residents parking bay several times during week after going out for the day so be prepared to park on outskirts of town and walk to cottage in high season - only improvement would be a separate tumble dryer or radiator airers as we had wet clothing several days and dryer on washing machine didn’t dry clothes so we brought an airer as had nowhere to hang clothes to dry - and only one change of towels for a week not really enough without drying facilities either. Better suited to a family rather than 4 adults sharing with only having the one bathroom. Overall we had an excellent time and would return.

Great position within walking distance of Lake Windermere and shops/restaurants in Bowness. House was clean and had all requirements for us with 3 children (2 teenagers for whom internet essential!). Would definitely recommend.

Very chartacterful property ideally situated and an easy walk to everywhere! I can’t see six staying in the property with only one bathroom but other than that a great find.

Lovely cottage
Very well appointed and furnished cottage in a central location. Easy access on foot to all facilities which meant we could park the car up and forget about it. Exceptionally clean and equipped and I would definitely return.

Great location, and great cottage
We loved staying here. It was a perfect location for wandering down to restaurants and the waterfront. The rooms were lovely and comfortable, especially the loft room. The kitchen had all we needed.
There was plenty of information at the cottage of activities and walks we could do.

Ellefred Cottage Stay - August 19
Cottage was cleaned to a point but only seemed to be briefly given a once over with certain areas showing signs of neglect in terms of cleanliness. Bed linen clean and beds comfortable. Good location but Attic room had a God awful foist smell which they called and tried to rectify by putting an airwick plug in into one of the sockets. Made slight difference on entrance stairwell as you would expect but still smelt of foist when at top of stairwell. We therefore didn't use that room which was a shame. Toilet seat needs changing. Something simple but they've chose to leave it and it's starting to flake off which is very unhygenic. On departure we forgot to remove our dyson handheld charger from socket so on arrival back home we contacted the property manager and stated we would pay for postage if they would kindly send it back. The reply I recieved was yes they would send it if I paid for postage but and additional fee on top of postage and packing was required for the cleaner to walk to the post office around the corner. Unacceptable in my eyes and not very good in terms of customer care. Would not stay there again due to customer care experience coupled with the foist smell and general cleanliness not being to a good enough standard.

Great location in heart of Bowness
We loved our short stay at Elefred Cottage! The location is superb with the heart of Bowness right around the corner. We walked to the bay daily and popped in many shops and restaurants along the route. It’s close proximity cannot be beat! We had no trouble with parking in the 3 designated areas provided and the home itself was lovely. Our favorite area tended to be around the breakfast table with our cute chicken friends. The weather was unusually glorious for the Lake District during our stay and my husband and I shared the upstairs loft room. My only suggestion would be to provide a cooling fan for that room as it does get a bit hot if you’re blessed with wonderful temps during your summer visit, though I know it is normally not that warm. Also we couldn’t figure out how to turn on the blue stairwell lights up to the loft even though they illuminated the level below. Still a nice touch along with many other quality details. Highly recommend a visit to Elefred, we felt quite at home during our stay

Great little townhouse
We were a party of 5 and there was plenty of space for all of us. It’s in the perfect location with plenty of shops, pubs, restaurants and Lake Windermere just around the corner. Extremely well equipped with everything you could possibly need. We really enjoyed our stay here and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

Absolutely fantastic stay - beautiful house with everything you need. The attic room and kitchen are particularly nice. Perfect location, five minutes walk from the lake and plenty of bars, shops and restaurants. I'd definitely reccomend to friends and family.
