The vacation house we booked ruined our reunion vacation with other families. We are so disappointed. When we checked in on 12/23/2022, we found 2 dead cockroaches in a bathroom upstairs. After a few nights, my friend woke up with several bites and found an engorged bed bug in his room. We contacted Vacasa in the morning 12/26/2022 for an alternative place, but they didn't send exterminators or give us an alternative until the next afternoon, forcing us to stay overnight in a bed bug-infested house. Several of our friends were forced to book hotel rooms to stay in since no alternative was given. After several calls with Vacasa, we were offered an alternative place on 12/27/2022 afternoon. When we returned to the house to move our belongings to the alternative lodging, they had already disabled the code for the door without notifying us so we were unable to retrieve our luggage. Later, we moved to the alternative place. But the place was not cleaned prior to our arrival. There were old sheets on the bed with chip crumbs and blood stains, there were urine stains on both toilets, the prior guest’s trash wasn’t taken out, and there was old food in the fridge. Communication with Vacasa was not smooth as they refused to give us alternative options or reimbursement for hotel stays the first three or four times we asked, and finally a day and a half after reporting the bed bugs did they agree to give us an alternative option, which ended up being filthy and not properly cleaned. We still have not received a refund for any of the nights we paid despite verbal agreement over the phone (only after asking several times), nor did we receive reimbursement for hotel nights as a few of our party decided to check into a hotel rather than stay in the vacation home after they learned of the bed bugs.
