Evening meal was nice and breakfast good.
The room wasn’t great. Not very clean and heating didn’t work. Had to hold the shower hose as it would not stay on the wall fixture.

Staff where very friendly and attentive
Very loud music reverberated in the room until late evening, preventing our grandchildren from sleeping or adults being able to watch TV. No attention was drawn or notification about the week-end music and karaoke so this room should not be let to a family during the week-ends that this happens. The bathroom door was only 1.7m high so I, who am 1.8m tall grazed my head five times, even though I ducked every time. There should have been a notice, and warning about this and protection on the architrave to prevent or minimise such harm. The cooked breakfast was greasy and the scrambled eggs were just chopped up fried eggs not proper scrambled eggs.

The Owner was very helpful.
Breakfast served from 7.30am (too late for a start) but still not open at 7.35am, so had to leave without breakfast, as had to attend an early meeting at 8.00am!

The staff are fantastic! Very keen to please and very helpful. The food was great, perfectly cooked (if a little expensive). Good entertainment on a Friday and Saturday nights. A fabulous Sunday Roast Carvery is worth every penny and is delicious!
The hotel is rather 'tired' and needs quite a bit of TLC and needs some money spent on improvement which, under the guidance of the hotel manager Tyler, is underway but it's rather slow. I'm sure that it will be fabulous, when it's all finished.

We didn't like anything our room shouldn't been a superior room didn't eat breakfast as inedible found out headchef is off sick with broken arm, broken toilet seat, shower flooded bathroom no roomservice in 3 days staff I couldnt fault but the owners need to improve alot in regards to providing hotel service as they certainly running fawlty towers Hotel.

Staff was very friendly and helpful, food was ok but not the best I've had.
The bedroom was in a bad condition, couldn't get sound to work on tv, old wooden windows didn't close properly so could hear a lot of noise from outside until the hotel closed at around 12.30.

The location was helpful for us. The separate building for some of our accommodation was good as it avoided the noise of the pub a little. The building is very old and therefore interesting with some quirky design choices! one bed comfy one not so with a spring mattress which probably needs replacing. We were served a good breakfast freshly cooked and a reasonable pub style evening meal. Friendly helpful staff.
The general standard of upkeep
of some of the building was quite low- the sash windows were very much in need of putty and paint! but they opened! The huge bathroom had nothing to put anything on except a tiny glass shelf. if you BBC are in any way challenged by mobility this is not the place for you as the stairs and narrow and steep with a carpet which is not well fitted.

The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was good, particularly the breakfast. Parking was available.
The bedroom was very small and poorly furnished.
The bed felt like it would collapse at any moment and the wardrobe was in the bathroom, it had a screw in the side to hang things off, one handle was loose on the roof of it, which itself was loose.
The bathroom door had peep holes in it from where previous fittings had been removed and both it and the main bedroom door looked like they had been made from floor planks with poor quality fittings.
Not so keen on the bathroom window mould either.
We didn’t like the live karaoke under our bedroom on the Friday until 11.45, the live band on the Saturday night were also playing until 10.45.
I appreciate that this is an old building but it doesn’t compare to the quality of some of its similar age competitors along the same street.
We would go back for the staff, but not the facilities.

appreciate its old but some of the areas could be updated e.g. the carpet on the stairs

The people were lovely, very friendly and helpful. The food was very good, always fresh and of good quality. The bed was very comfortable with plenty of pillows.
The rooms could do with a deep clean - very dusty, dead flies in the lampshades and very dirty windows. A washing machine or similar started up at 4.30am every morning in the vicinity of our room which wasn't great

Location was good, I literally parked outside the front door unknowingly. The breakfast was pretty good. Bed was comfortable if not a tad low down, but nice clean sheets.
I couldn't get the bath to run, and so had to fill it with the shower hose, the bathroom
suite was very tired and the chrome was falling off the shower hose.
could have done with a plug next to the bed for charging phone.

Staff we're very welcoming, helpful and breakfast was lovely. Hot food, plenty of choice, and quality meat.
The rooms were warm, comfortable and clean bedding too.
The entrance to our room needed a hoover/clean. Our room had low beams just passable for my husband (he is 6ft.2). Although the room looked clean, felt a bit unloved and like it needed a freshen up.

Excellent breakfast both in service and quality. It’s only saving grace really
Very loud music to the point that we couldn’t hear the sound on the tv. Heavy base and generally very loud music made it impossible to relax. Dressed and went downstairs to complain because it was so bad . They did lower the music some but said that there was music every Friday and Saturday evenings from 8-11pm! We said that we should have been informed before booking so that we could have changed our minds.
The bathroom radiator did not work and consequently the room was very cold.

The staff/owners of this hotel are exceptionally attentive and kind. The location of the property to the bus stops and other areas of Long Melford was perfect. Our room was clean, cozy and had recently went through some renovations in the bathroom.
I wished that the lighting in the bathroom had been more extensive. For example, it would have been awesome to have had an additional light on the ceiling above the sink area. Also, there is enough space in the bathroom, I believe, for a small rolling cart or perhaps some shelving. This would've been great to have had in order to set your change of clothes on or additional toiletries. As it was, the only option was to set clothes on the toilet. Lastly, the shower was nice, but leaked water on the floor regardless of how tightly closed the shower door was. I believe this was due to the small open gap between the top of the shower door and the shower frame, itself.
