It’s a nice place

We’ve enjoyed many VRBO rentals over the years but Missy and Geoff’s Sweet Dreams Retreat ranks among the best. As many have already said, here you will find comfort, serenity and relaxation in a beautifully decorated, pristinely clean little apartment. We like to cook when we travel. The small kitchen was very well equipped with stovetop, oven, refrigerator, microwave, drip coffeemaker, Kuerig and toaster. Big fluffy towels, quality toiletries, plenty of bedroom storage and a real perk, a washer and dryer, added all the comforts and efficiencies of home. Missy and Geoff are present (they live in the house above the suite) and responsive to any question you might have. Staying here is a real treat when visiting the Berkshires. We look forward to another visit.

This property was clean and impeccable decorated! We enjoyed sipping on coffee in front of the fireplace with our son and our dog. Owners were very gracious hosts. We also enjoyed the rural location; far-away from the hustle and bustle, yet a short drive away. Would def recommend!

My wife Chris and I were very pleased with everything about this wonderful suite in such a pretty rural area with so many interesting places nearby to visit. Everything was clean, well thought out and pleasing, including the fireplace in the wall. Our hosts, Geoff and Melissa were delightful. We'll be back Lord willing.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay! Sweet Dreams Retreat was immaculate and the perfect size and location for a couple looking to get away. Missy and Geoff were responsive and accessible hosts. The Berkshires and neighboring towns were convenient and charming, the leaves were beautiful, and the outdoor hot tub was an amazing perk! Our dog, Ranger, loved all the sniffs too! We would recommend it without hesitation!

My husband and I really enjoyed our time at The Sweet Dreams Retreat! The guest suite is so peaceful, cozy, and clean with every detail thought out by the hosts (the fireplace and access to the jacuzzi during the brisk Fall weekend were the icing on the cake). We would definitely stay here again!

This was truly the perfect weekend getaway. Melissa and Geoff were lovely. The space was beautiful, well appointed, clean and comfortable. The grounds are absolutely stunning. We had everything we needed for a quiet relaxing weekend away from the hustle and bustle of Boston. I highly recommend this space for anyone who needs an oasis to unplug. The town is also very cute. Very friendly local folks!

My husband and I had a great stay at Sweet Dreams. The apartment is small but very comfortable, well-appointed and immaculate. There’s a nice bit of personal outdoor space, and a great deck. Missy. and Geoff are lovely hosts and even shared some fresh from the garden veggies.

The hosts Missy and Geoff were great and very responsive if we needed anything. They did a nice job in furnishing the place where we stayed which was part of the basement in their home. The thing about staying there in the Berkshires was it is far away from all the major towns, nowhere to walk for exercise as road has no shoulder and is curvy with dips. The house is in an outlying area of the Berkshires and I had trouble with my phone reception which was very annoying. Great hosts, furnished nicely but not good for our needs on a two week getaway. Fine for a long weekend.

this is our first time vrbo trip and it was an amazing experience we loved every minute of it. the house was adorable. it had everything we needed. we used the jacuzzi, pool, fire pit, and most of all was the barbecue. The barbecue was my dads favorite spot. This was a much needed trip to get away from all the commotion of boston and a great way to celebrate my mom’s birthday. So glad that I could sit down, turn on the tv and have the office waiting for me after a long day of family activities. Melissa and Geoff were great, we wouldn’t have had this experience if it weren’t for them.

We had a great stay and would highly recommend Sweet Dreams Retreat. Melissa & Geoff were gracious hosts. Excellent communication with fast response to all inquiries. They reside on site and yet we always felt we had total privacy. This property fully met our needs and wants for a week-long vacation stay. Kitchen sufficient to prepare basic meals. Very comfortable bed/bedroom. Spacious living area. Air conditioning works great. Fast and reliable WiFi. Laundry machines that are quiet and efficient. A lovely patio area just outside the entrance. The pool and hot tub were an absolute delight, especially after returning from a bike ride in the summer heat. Even a shed to store our bikes and protect them from the elements. The place has a very rural, woodsy feel, and yet somehow there were no bugs! And believe me, my wife is a mosquito magnet, yet we were able to hang outside by the pool for hours without the slightest concern for biting insects. Overall, we fully enjoyed our stay, took advantage of almost all of the many amenities of the property, and ended our week totally unwound and ready to return to real life.

Peaceful, great place to stay, very relaxing

We absolutely loved this gem of a find! Highly recommend. Super clean. Gracious hosts. It is a shared property but the hosts are awesome! Even brought us a plate on thanksgiving! That being said, the kitchen is so great we made our own too! Super pet friendly. All around great experience. :)

We made our second visit to this wonderful place this past weekend. Lots of great improvements since our first visit including an oven, dishwasher and blinds on the windows. These have made an already comfortable place that much better! The only drawback to the weekend was the inconsistent weather, but we made good use of the rainy times by visiting a brewery, distillery and winery all nearby in the town of Sheffield. On this visit, we also thought ahead to make dinner reservations at the Old Inn on the Green. Definitely worth the trip for a meal!

My husband and I had a lovely and relaxing stay. The space is simple and elegant while also having everything you need. The hosts were very attentive and responsive to any questions and/or concerns. We would definitely come back!

This was a last minute get away and we were lucky enough to get this property. It is not in the center of town but it doesn’t seem like it takes forever to get where you’d like. We enjoyed the peace and quiet, the fireplace, and nicely furnished space. My only knock is the small sink for the kitchenette because it splashes easily onto the mirror backsplash and countertop, but I don’t like my sink at home either… It was a very enjoyable stay and if we look to be in the area again we would enjoy another stay here.

If you plan on visiting the beautiful Berkshires we would encourage you to stay at this hidden gem Sweet Dreams Retreat in the quintessential town of Sandisfield which is a short jaunt to many incredible sights to trek/hike/bike through and historical enclaves & towns to browse. Experience the incredible local gastros, breweries, distilleries and wineries. Shopping in the eclectic stores of Great Barrington and many other villages. We challenged our Frenchie Murphy on the steep decline to Bash Bish Falls to be only rewarded of its beauty and surroundings. The beauty of this trip was our incredible hosts Melissa & Geoff who have created this beautiful cozy compact retreat filled with craftmanship and artifacts, you will not be disappointed, a honey spot. We ordered takeout from Koi (Incredible) and savored Melissa & Geoff's company along with indulgence of Champagne and a local 4 legged pal Marshmallow whom Murphy loved dearly by the firepit. Thank You Melissa & Geoff you made a memorable mark on our 25th Anniversary.......Much Love to you both and will visit soon again. Thank You

I would recommend this rental to anyone looking for nice romantic weekend. The accommodations were nicely appointed and very comfortable. We enjoyed biking, hiking, and great restaurants in charming Great Barrington. Perfect for a weekend getaway!

Charming and impeccably renovated cottage apartment. The owners have provided a wonderful retreat with perfect attention to detail. We felt very comfortable and welcome. We loved the private porch with it's comfy chairs and cute gas fire pit! The owner was super responsive and warm. We highly recommend this special place!

We totally love getting away to this quiet little place in the Catskill Mountains! Thanks to our Host Melissa, her VRBO is so clean and offers so much more than expected. Little snacks, many amenities and she was so pleasant to meet. We've returned here more than once, and will continue to do so. It's located on a lovely street and we like to walk uphill to the apple orchard, which has pick your own apples and berries. Thanks for being a super host.

We spent a wonderful week here! The property was squeaky clean and pin-drop quiet, and the king-sized bed was marvelously comfortable. I really appreciated the air conditioners, which kept the rooms cool and dry, unlike those in other country properties in which we've stayed that are often dank and sticky. Melissa and Geoff were kind yet discreet hosts, and even offered us a smoked-chicken dinner at the end of our stay (which, sadly, we had to decline since we had a dinner reservation at the local Gedney Farm--highly recommended). The on-site pool and hot tub were awesome. All in all, fantastic!

I spent ten days at Sweet Dreams Retreat basically to get away from the city and work on a piece was writing. Melissa and Geoff are the couple that run the apartment which is primarily an apartment they built in their basement. Very low ceilings and, because the house is made of wood, very creaky. Every time they walked around upstairs or performed any function like working around the house or playing piano, I heard it. While I was there, they had their very large family over for Sunday dinner and the noise was unbelievable. But my primary complaint is with the water system in the apartment. Whenever I turned on the water, whether it was the tap in the kitchen or the bathroom or the shower, a sulfuric smell, like rotten eggs came out. They tried on at least three occasions to correct the problem, all to no avail. I finally got so sick of the smell that I had to go out and buy bottled water which I used for all the functions I would normally use tap water, however, I couldn’t avoid having to take showers in that water. When I first got there, they informed me, to my shock, that they had both had a bout with Covid and Geoff had lost his sense of smell but Melissa’s had returned. Judging from my experience I tend to doubt it. The was one other problem with the apartment. Because of the low ceilings, I couldn’t use the oven without their multiple smoke detectors going off which were very loud. I would have to open my front door and wait for them to stop. I do not recommend Sweet Dreams Retreat and would never return.
