clean and comfortable, and the staff were very friendly and helpful! location was excellent. plus they had an elevator!

Comfortable and well appointed room. Polite and helpful staff. Located in the center of the town...handy to everything. Good breakfast. Has a good elevator for those that have difficulty using stairs.

Good location in the historic centre, facing a public park so: During the day it’s great To be able to go out and sit or walk, enjoy the shade from the trees, Stop by one of the pastry shops, coffee shops, family Restaurants around the park, or check out the crafts snd artisan tents set up Daily along the pathways; At night the usual lurkers, but police have a full-time post to keep a watch and keep it safe, and many of the locals enjoy the sunset there. Hotel is very nice very clean, staff is very helpful, welcoming and professional. Rooms are basic but with comfortable beds, with warm bedding, desk alcoves, nice ensuite bathrooms, and housekeeping was often on hand to provide fresh towels, soap, and toilet paper. The bright and cheery café downstairs offers a nice breakfast with eggs, toast, juice, coffee or tea, fruit and yogurt. I very much appreciated the kindness of the concierge after a meal out had unfortunate consequences, and kindly brought pots of mint tea to sooth my stomach, and look after arranging a taxi for me to the airport.

The rooms facing the park have very nice adjustable blinds, but some blackout shades would do well to cut down the heat of the early morning and late afternoon. Rooms are also not supplied with telephones, and although the Wi-Fi was good for personal devices, it would be nice to be able to call down to the concierge or cleaning staff in a personal emergency. I made do with messaging through Booking.com when I Wasn’t feeling well and needed a little assistance.

The place is clean and very central. Breakfast was freshly prepared and with the right size.

The pillows are too thick and thus it makes it difficult to have a good rest. The bed covers also need to be updated as they seem already worn out.

We stayed at Hotel Carrion before and this was our second visit. This is our longest hotel stay in Ecuador so far and it was just as good as before. My prior comments are still applicable: location, staff, and hospitality all excellent. The service was consistent! Not all amenities are available as with U.S. hotels, but we didn't find them necessary in Ecuador.

I took a gamble when I booked this local hotel, and I'm so glad we did! The location is excellent, right next to the square... close to multiple restaurants, shopping, and an excellent craft market across the street during the time we visited. Walk 3 min to the city tour bus and with a Carrion Hotel discounted rate enjoy an excellent view of Loja for just a few dollars. All staff members encountered were friendly, helpful, and wanted to ensure a positive experience especially Vicente! Thank you Vicente! A few knew more English than we did Spanish and that was a big plus for us. They went above and beyond, we were never disappointed. Staff seem to be always present when you needed them! If there's something that you need, just ask. The traditional Ecuadorian breakfast with mashed corn and Ecuadorian cheese was unexpected and delicious! The rooms are not equipped with a Microwave or Refrigerator but we did not miss them since many food choices were available at very affordable prices including at the on-site restaurant. Private parking is available, the entrance is a little steep. However, most visitors don't seem to be interested in renting cars in Ecuador because taxis are readily available and quite affordable. There is an elevator, some hotels are without. We also liked that sanitizers were conveniently placed all around the property. We will definitely be back!

The staff, overall hotel cleanliness and Covid safety measures as well as breakfast were great.

There was no air conditioner in the room, or a means for proper ventilation. The little functional small window above the hallway facing glass wall of the room was not enough for any meaningful air exchange because we needed to keep the blinds closed for privacy. So, we didn’t have good air circulation in the room making breathing a difficult.
