Very nice hotel. The room was large but became hot when the weather was warm (we were on the ground floor and possibilities of opening windows were limited). The hotel provided a fan, which helped a bit. Lovely garden in the back. Central location.

The hotel is sort of OK, but the staff is far from service-minded. Think “Fawlty Towers” for those familiar with John Cleese’s sitcom.

Bit of a worn facility. Quite sober and empty and cold in both the rooms and the hallways. Could do with an uplift and some tender loving care/focus on detail. Location is superb.

Great hotel and beautiful spot, conveniently situated. We were only asked to book a precise timeslot for breakfast in advance. This is not what one wishes for a relaxed holiday weekend though...

While they tell you there is no parking on site and that nearest parking is 500m away, what they don’t tell you is that there is no drop off zone or way to drop off your bags, so you have to haul everything across half the town. Further hotel room had a strong smell of musk and mould. Will definitely never stay at this hotel ever again.

The hotel is reasonably but the beds are terrible, very soft a lot of back pain next day

It was a very bad experience. Highly unfriendly attitude.
Suite did not have normal amenities. In spite of our telling them, it was not provided. We specifically requested to change the linen every day, but it was not done !
It claims as an old palace which is completely misleading in reality.

Room was clean and spacious as was the bathroom. We didn’t use the restaurant. Plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance.

Not good enough for four stars: bad reception system. Untrained staff. Bad restaurant staff. Mattresses not good enough. One wall in room damaged, one chair also damaged.

In general a good place to stay. Old hotel, nice entrance, family rooms located in a less attractive part of the hotel. Seems like a star less in quality, but nothing that ruined our stay.

Great Location, great shower. Room was small. Small bed. I arrived tired at 13:00 have been traveling since 04:00 but they would not check me in until 15:00

Overall the hotel is nice, with indoor swimming pool, sauna and exercise room, but extra towels are sometimes hard to get.

We love the hotel, easy and friendly check in, nice room, great radian bathroom floor and best in town location. A wonderful hotel. Our 1st night, we had quite a few younger guest next to us and just their chatting voice until 1am and movements in the room kept us up. They were fine, walls way too thin, we could hear them when they touch the wall next to our bed. They left the next few days we stayed on and our sleep was perfect, I was surprised at how thin the walls were or not sure how we could hear everything from next room. But we do love the hotel overall.

Elegant, historic building made into a great hotel. Center of town. Excellent, helpful staff. Spacious room, over looking a large green park. Price was excellent.

Location is good, staff was helpful. We were in a spacious (mostly empty) attic, without a view, as the windows were too high. It's a fine hotel but nothing special, just a bed, a shower, nothing more nothing less.

Wow, old castle right in the hearth of Leeuwarden and the room was huge. Parking available on the street only a few minutes away and free during the night

Floor to ceiling old windows that opened inwards onto scaffolding and old walls and windows (occupied so no privacy) as the building must be subsiding. Old shabby furniture and thick musty curtains. Was supposed to be 4*. Breakfast was ok but never saw any gardens as per pictures in the advert. Disappointed

The hotel is very lovely and situated right in town. The rooms are quite basic and more like small apartments with a bedroom, a separate small living area and a bathroom. The staff are very accommodating. They have parking which is charged at €15 a day. Free wifi.

Nice stay with a really good hotel staff. Unfortunately we have to change a bad because ist was unclean. Overall it would be good if they would renovate a bit. Lunch was quit good and next to the hotel is a really good bar :)

Only had two nights but liked the town and the hotel - all very civilised. Bit of a nuisance having to pay for parking but not really a problem. Wish we had spent more time in Friesland - its a really pleasant and interesting area.

The hotel has a great location and helpful staff. Our room was very spacious, but in need of redecoration. The rest of the hotel was much better maintained, as evidenced by the wedding taking place in the garden when we arrived. We had to stand in the corridor to lock on to a wireless signal, but once our devices were online, the connection was maintained in our room. Breakfast was OK but I wouldn't recommend getting up specially for it.
