Great pub great rooms

Best kept secret in Derbyshire. Friendly atmospheric pub with the real Country pub feel and great real ales. On arrival made really welcome, shown to rooms and given all the information we needed. The room was Old Piub Style. It was warm, comfortable, spotlessly clean and well cared for despite showing signs of its age. Breakfast was all you could ask, from juice to the full English ( which really was a freshly cooked plateful. A refreshing change, from some of the modern new but soulless rooms. Enjoyable stay for us wish we could have stayed longer but we’ll be back.

Shabby and broken items, dirty carpets, bed not very comfortable and needs updating however, breakfast was good.

Incredible setting in a beautiful village, the staff were incredibly helpful and the locals were incredinly friendly. The room was big and very clean. Perfect for ramblers & wedding accommodation. All in all a fantastic experience.

Fantastic accommodation ideally located for exploring the stunning surrounding scenery and peaks. Close to village shop, cafe and restaurants. Owners could not have been more helpful throughout. I even had the offer of making me a lunch too take on my hike as I visited over a bank holiday weekend. Very comfortable. Excellent filling breakfast made to order with various cooked and a la carte options.

Charming and lovely pub at the heart of the community. Bedroom was lovely, breakfast was magnificent. The bar was super friendly. There was plenty of parking on site and in the street adjacent to the pub. Only one thing could be improved, the Pub doesn’t currently serve food. That was a shame but not an issue as there are a couple of spots <5 minutes away that do. I’ll certainly be back (most likely with my dog too). Many thanks, Simon

Was a lovely Inn, room was very nice slightly starting to show its age but was still very nice. Breakfast was really nice had a lovely full English. All staff were very accommodating. Also has really fast Wi-FI

My friend and I booked a last minute stay for my birthday. Becky kindly moved her car so we could park directly outside and greeted us on arrival. The room was very spacious and clean and we had a lovely evening with Becky and a few locals. Everyone was very friendly and shared local walking routes. Will definitely stay again if we’re in the area. Thank you

Excellent stay, staff were so friendly and helpful, even moved their car so that I could park. Also had to set off early so missed breakfast but they left me some sandwiches. Such a lovely thing to do. Would highly recommend.

It was an interesting lay out and an old building. Rooms set away from bar so no noise.

Very friendly place, good value and great beer! breakfast was cooked to order, using good quality ingredients. The single room was a decent size, with a lovely view. Some minor maintenance needed (bathroom fittings), but nothing that distracted from my stay. Lots of stairs - but nothing compared to the slopes in the village ;-)

Hotel is very clean, and has all necessary modern conveniences (including wifi). Staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful, and the breakfast is very recommended. This is a very dog-friendly hotel and there is no surcharge for having a dog in your room! If you're looking for walking or exploring the peaks this is a great location. You are literally less than a minute's walk from one of the walking routes. Not complaints, but you should be aware that on-site parking is limited, but there is free on-street parking nearby. Also, if you have mobility problems, most (if not all) rooms are only accessible by stairs as there is no lift.

Shower not good at all, more of a trickle and when we used the bath the water came out a funny colour to begin with, we can only put it down to possibly the rooms not beings used much during covid. We didn’t realise it was a Man U game when we arrived so had to park in the paid car park round the corner until a spot became free and it was quite noises until late with the room being above the outdoor space of the pub. Other than that, a perfect little stay for a couple of nights, would visit again!

We stayed here for two nights to visit family in the area. We happened to arrive on the day that the bar reopened so it was really busy. The staff were fantastic - they saved a parking space right outside for us and very helpfully let us have breakfast at odd times. Great service, even though they were just getting used to coping with the new covid/distancing requirements. I was also very impressed that they closed the bar for a few hours in the evening as they felt it was getting too busy and was hard to control and then reopened later on. We had a very comfortable stay and would definitely stay here again.

Quick overnight stay, but the village and the area demands a further, lengthily visit. Hotel and nearby Italian restaurant were very good.

If honest room was lovely people same and breakfast brill tiny critisam near a busy road but the windows were fully open hot day not a problem when closed.
