VERY unusual check in. You have to go to the restaurant on high street. We thought it was called bella vita 🤔 but it's actually a taco restaurant. You go in there, then have no idea where to go as no signs inside the shop?
It was only as another couple were stood there looking very confused too, a lady working behind the food counter came over and took us all behind some weird saloon doors into the back room! ...it felt like you were in some sort of escape room as boxes etc everywhere?
She asked me to pay which I then replied I have already...months ago. She said oh yeah...it just made me think I wonder how many people have paid again by accident.
I had to ask her about breakfast to which she replied. There won't be any as we are so booked up
🤔 so I said well we were expecting it as when I paid it was included in the cost.
She told me to text her my bank details and they will refund me some money for the 2 breakfasts... 2 months later ....still no refund for 2 breakfasts

From the beginning just trying to sign in on this trip was turning into a nightmare, NO payment had been received from Hotels.Com for our overnight stay so I have to say that wasn’t all Hotel Vallare fault, but they insisted that if were too stay that night I would have to pay again, even though I insisted that I had booked and paid for this via Hotels.com web site, we were on the booking in system (a piece of A4 paper) but no mention of any payment, so another payment of £82.82 was made on my debit card reluctantly, moving forward 48hrs it’s now Hotel Vallare’s to put it right after the mistake has made, sorry for our mistake we need to refund you, asking for the card details that I used to pay the extra payment (bear in mind they already had this) BUT stating the last four numbers of the card that I used totally incorrect from the one actually used, but would not listen to the fact that this was incorrect and insisted that he was, at the same time I was talking to Hotels.com good old AI robot what a complete waste of space that is after 45 minutes it says I’m sorry I can’t help with your enquiry. I will have to send it to the back office team, they didn’t do much better two days later, they told me I’d cancelled the room and that they couldn’t help me.
So my next step was on the advice of my Bank was to do a charge back as I was getting no corporation from either this is what I did, And then all of a sudden, out of the blue hotel, Valerie found the right card and refunded.

Booking in was terrible having to wait for people to be served in the burrito bar. Overflowing rubbish skip outside window, broken glass littering the parking area.

We had a short break at the hotel and we would recommend staying here. The rooms are spacious and clean with the convenience of being in the centre of Hitchin.
The staff cannot do enough for you and we would book to come to the hotel again.

Our bedroom was clean.the twin beds were comfortable. The bathroom with a shower was excellent. Bathroom clean with sha.poo and wash liquids. Only problem wiold be trying to return keys the next day. A better system be ideal.

Great value for money, comfy bed with air con and large TV. The only negative was there’s an emergency exit sign in the room which lights up so bright at night it’s like having the main light on. I was so tired I just slept through it though

Central to town , a bit noisy till about 2 am . It’s ok and reasonable

Check in took place in a very hot takeaway restaurant and the shopworker had to call for the person checking us in while we waited. This was very uncomfortable.
The first thing I noticed was how flimsy the outside door looked and the 1nd thing was how musty the room smelled.
The room was big and although very dated, not obviously dirty but the windowsills were covered in cobwebs and the bathroom was the source of most of the musty smell, with mold on the shower and ceiling and a toilet with an ill fitting seat.
The room was cheap, and in a good location. Unfortunately that also means that it is noisy until very early in the morning.
Positive points for having a mini fridge that was actually cold and for the room being a decent temperature which was lucky as I slept on top of the sheets.

We was very disappointed when we entered the main door to the stairs of the building. There was an old dirty smell and entering our room it was very shabby, tired, and unclean. Although the building is Oldie worldly, the furniture was also old. The tired and dirty room let our stay down. The curtains were torn and not even hung properly. The carpet was worn in areas and tired. The bedding although washed, had old blood stains and other stain on the quilt. There were lots of cobwebs on the radiator, and dust on the skirting boards and around the edge of the carpet. The bathroom was small and for short people. Myself and my husband are tall and struggled with the limited space to get into the shower. Once in the shower if you are over 5 foot 4 you are bent over in the shower. You couldn’t flush the toilet for at least 20-30 after previously flushing.
This spoilt our 3 day stay in Hitchin.
Unfortunately once there at the Villare hotel and paid for our room then shown to our room we were not happy.
We did try to booking into the premier inn after arriving at the Villare hotel but it was fully booked. I will definitely not be booking Villare hotel again.

We checked in by going into the Mexican fast food restaurant next door and shown to our room.
Very basic with too long curtains that I tripped on and they had holes in the blackout lining.
The “hotel” appears like it’s being left to rot as it looks to be getting a steady income from refugees.
The walls are paper thin and all the car noise could be heard from outside.
My favourite part was that check out was at 11am according to the website. At just past 10am we got a knock in our door to ask when we were planning to check out. I had an alarm set for 10:30 so to have this wake up call was not great.
We got dressed and left to find that no one was around anymore to check us out and as the Mexican restaurant was closed we tried the two mobile numbers multiple times and no one answered.
Awful all round. I’d stay in the premier inn.

Could be so much better, my curtains didn't shut properly. The lights still had tape around them, room didn't get cleaned daily but location is brilliant with free parking and breakfast which wasn't great. Needs more staff. Would I stay again..... probably

The room was clean but could do with an update there was no bin in the room for teabags and bits the air conditioner worked very well and the hot water wasn’t very hot although they are minor things it did not effect our stay.

Quite odd in that the hotel doesn’t appear to have a reception. Check-in was in the adjacent burrito restaurant. Not a problem, just odd. Only contact number is a mobile phone which isn’t answered.
No shower curtain which probably explains the rather sad state of the bottom of the bathroom door.
We hadn’t booked breakfast but we didn’t see a restaurant in the hotel anyway.
On the plus side very centrally situated in what surprised us by being a really lovely town with great places to eat and drink and certainly good value for the price paid.

Great location, steep stairs up to room, step up into en suite could be labelled with bith stubbed our toes once. Unable to use the photo system once again.

Good value. Poor quality curtains with holes in made it difficult to sleep in when the sun rose in the morning.

Close by was convient! But my experience of trying to check in wasn't great I had come in the previous day to confirm I could get a early check and was told to call the number on the window of the cafe before as it's a shared check n cafe so it's not an 24hr open reception I had no response on the number so had to go to my event without checking in and attempted to sort checking in over the phone! I eventually had a call back and arranged a way of getting my key card my experience was very stressful!

Hotel full of tradition and character. Great location
Bedding could be improved. Sheets were not good quality and the pillows were soft and lumpy.

Very clean room. Nice and local to amenities. Breakfast was lovely too!!

Very dated room air con not working very noisy bins being emptied at 3am bed uncomfortable very small duvet struggle to cover 2 people would not stay again
4.0
No formal reception. Instead get key from Burrito cafe. Waited while staff sorted a room for me as Expedia hadn’t let them know of my booking and I was told they were fully booked. Didn’t like waiting in a pungent eating area, with my clothes for the evening in my hand.
Was given a spacious room on second floor, in the eaves of the building. It was basic, but functional, although one of the curtain poles was held on with sellotape.
Hot and cold taps reversed on bath and no hot water. Cracks in tiles on bathroom floor, stepped on sharp fragment. Carpet very worn on stairs.
Breakfast not served until 9 on Saturdays which was too late as I left at 8.

Hotel was ok , service check in was all good , parking was a bonus , The hotel location is great , in the centre of town. Breakfast was good. The thing that let the hotel down was on one of the coldest days of the year the heating in the room didn't work so we were freezing cold.
