Le personnel a l’arrivée et au restaurant le soir pas accueillant à peine aimable .

Ondanks de renovatie schurkt de uitstraling van het geheel een beetje tegen oubollig aan. Komt waarschijnlijk ook door gebruik van best mooie, maar toch wat goedkoop ogende aankleding (meubilair, sanitair, kleurgebruik). Maar dit is onze mening uiteraard. We misten ook echt een mogelijkheid om koffie of thee te maken op de kamer. Flesje water zou ook fijn zijn, chocolaatje, koekje, snoepje.... Het meest storend vonden wij dat we de indruk kregen dat niet iedereen van het personeel er zin in leek te hebben...Ondanks dat de keuken open was tot 21.00 uur en we wilden reserveren rond 20.00 uur, werden we verzocht niet later te eten dan 19.30 uur. En bij het ontbijt (open tot 10.00 uur) werd mensen om 9.45 uur gewoon gevraagd een beetje haast te maken "want het buffet gaat zo dicht". Uitslapen was er ook niet bij want de schoonmaak begon toch echt om 8.15 uur (stofzuigen, bedden verplaatsen). Kwa gastvrijheid wat ons betreft dus nog wel wat te halen.

Amazing location and friendly staff! The check-in has been quick and easy. The harbour view from our room was remarkable, and it definitely made our stay more pleasant. Also, the interior design is very traditional, and we loved the paintings and photos on the walls.

If we related it to the room price, we would have appreciated having more shampoo and body wash as well as lotion in the bathroom. The bathroom is very basic. Would have been nice to have a selection of fresh fruit for breakfast, on top of the fruit salad. Also, some dairy alternatives would have been absolutely great! But overall, we enjoyed our stay.

The shower was great, if a bit dark. The bathroom itself was designed in a way that required one to slide under the toilet paper dispenser to sit on the toilet. I don't know how a larger person would manage. The toilet paper was the roughest I've ever used. The beds are mattress toppers placed on two velvet-covered mattresses. They were comfortable enough, but the velvet mattress and headboard struck me as odd choices for a hotel. It’s not like they’d be easy to clean. There was barely room to walk between the bed and the windows and, when I closed the drapes, there was no room at all, which meant that I was basically in the drapes as I made my way to and from bed. Also, there was a piece cut out of the end of the drapes to allow for the bedside ‘table.’ The blackout drapes did their job, except for right where I needed them---near my face! We did like the porch and the fact that we could keep our windows open all night.

I had high hopes for the newly renovated Old Dutch. Hopes that were dashed the minute we walked in the door. The woman at the front desk didn’t look at us. Not once. She somehow managed to take my name and passport, input her data, and give us a room key without any eye contact. She hardly spoke to us at all. I might have assumed she was just having a bad day had not two staff members approached to joke with her while I was waiting for my key. She laughed and made eye contact with them readily enough. I realize that I would have known that there were no coffee/tea making facilities in the room if I’d read the fine print, but I can't remember the last time I stayed in a place that didn't offer those so I assumed. I want herbal tea in the evenings. I went down to the restaurant and asked if someone might fill my thermos with hot water into which I had stuffed a teabag. The young man who took my thermos said nothing. He looked annoyed, but he filled it for me and returned it with no eye contact. He did not respond when I thanked him. The maids were friendly, as were a few of the other servers we encountered when we went down for breakfast each day.
