We were told that we had a room overlooking the courtyard garden but overlooked the car park. No privacy unless you closed the shutters as no blind at window. Staff were amazing and so was the food. Room 1 is not really superior would maybe return if told exactly what to expect beforehand as rang the hotel to check. Room was very stuffy as had to sleep with the shutters closed so no open window.

Lovely Hotel, well situated in Beccles, close to the town with a great outlook onto the River. Very nice restaurant for a meal and breakfast. Great service, very friendly staff, plenty of parking. Hotel is a little tired and our room, No 9, surprisingly only had a bath with a hand shower, not a proper shower and no screen. If we were to return, I want a room with a proper shower, in fairness I am 6ft 4, the Lady on reception did try to change the room, but the Hotel was fully booked. I don't recall ever staying in a Hotel in a room without a proper shower.

Lovely location right on the broads at the back of the Hotel. Town centre was a minute walk

Very helpful and friendly staff. Only 12 bedrooms and ours was up two flights of stairs with no lift. So with suitcases we found it quite difficult. Beautiful position on river Waveney, and I. The heart of town. Good Breakfast.

Absolutely amazing place to stay. Stayed three years ago and booked a return visit as it was so good the first time. It didn’t disappoint, will definitely stay again.

This is the second time we have stayed at the Waveney. It is a small friendly hotel, the food in the restaurant is very good both evening meal and breakfast.

Friendly polite staff. Spacious clean room. Food was lovely. Absolutely no complaints.

It is a love Ly hotel with nice peopleand good food, the only small complaint we had is the tables in the bar were sticky.

The room was a little tired. The bed was too soft, and the sash window was held up by a block of wood on a string. Only a wooden shutter with no blind or curtain had to leave shutters open as the room was too hot. Disco below the room to midnight, the noise of people leaving and clearing up kept me awake until 12:35. The ensuite was recently updated and nice. The public areas are lovely, with a lovely conservatory dining room and terrace by the river. When checking out, was only asked for payment, not how has your stay with us been. Seems to shout they concentrate on events and public visiting and not hotel guests. To leave on a positive note, the staff were great.

Room was lovely and spacious and was full of character. Very comfortable. Breakfast included in price was excellent and freshly made. There was a bath but no shower. For our one night stay this was fine but would be more of an inconvenience if you’re there for longer.

The room, although small, was comfortable with a good sized bathroom. The staff were courteous and friendly. The outstanding feature though is the situation of the restaurant with tables within a few feet of the river - always plenty of passing boats, canoeists, swans etc. The food served up is very tasty, too.

Overall, the hotel provided a comfortable stay, but there is room for improvement. The staff at the reception were friendly and efficient, quickly directing me to a spacious and well-equipped room. The bed was comfortable and had modern amenities like a flat-screen TV, fan, and Wi-Fi. The hotel's convenient location offered easy access to local attractions and transportation options. However, the facilities could use some updating. The furniture in the rooms looked outdated, and the carpet showed signs of wear. A fresh coat of paint, updated furnishings, and minor renovations would significantly improve the accommodation. The cleanliness of the communal areas could be better. There was visible dust and occasional debris in the hallways, which detracted from the experience. While my room was clean, maintaining cleanliness throughout the entire hotel would be appreciated. The breakfast service was satisfactory but needed more variety and freshness. The dining area was clean, but the breakfast spread had limited options. More diverse and higher-quality offerings would enhance the experience. In conclusion, the hotel provided a comfortable stay, and the staff were attentive. However, the facilities need to be modernised and improved cleanliness in the communal areas. The breakfast, while sufficient, could be better. With these improvements, the hotel has the potential to be a top choice for comfortable stays.

Only had a 1 night stay, but was made to feel very welcome. Hotel is in a great position both for the waterside and for exploring Suffolk and Norfolk

This was our second visit to this lovely hotel with friendly staff and good food.

Lovely location great restaurant but my room had low beams which isn’t ideal as I banged my head a few times

Beds were awful. Wasn't told in advance that room was completely sloping. no lounge areas to sit only at reception or in dining room and very limited

Spacious twin bedded room. Sloping floor which made beds tilt! Very old fashioned beds. Room and en-suite very clean. Poor lighting in en suite, particularly over sink. Grouting missing between floor tiles in en suite. Staff very helpful and friendly. Restaurant menu quite limited. Disappointing absence of fresh fruit salad for breakfast.

Lovely Hotel in a beautiful setting. Staff very friendly and the receptionist was particularly helpful. Good breakfast and evening meal in the restaurant located next to the river.

The Waveney is a lovely hotel and I’ve stayed several times before. This time my room was on the top floor. Unfortunately not all the windows had curtains so it was light practically all night. There was no shower only one that you had to use sitting down! Not great.

I enjoyed my 2 night stay very much. Lovely location overlooking the Waveney River. All staff very polite,helpful and friendly.

Really good welcome - restful

Enjoyable stay through tesco clubcard. Treated ourselves to a lovely room looking over the river waveney at extra cost, which also had a massive ensuite (room 6). Breakfast disappointing, soggy croissants as wrapped in cellophane, cooked breakfast not very hot and not freshly cooked, poor quality sausage and bacon. Did not eat here in the evenings as plenty of eateries within walking distance.

Very pleasant and professional staff at dinner in the evening. Food was very good and great value. Bad bits; Room 9 in the attic has sort of quarter lights that have no blinds and the sun shone straight onto the bed from 6:15am waking me up. I had to stuff some of the unneccessary cushions placed all over the bed in the windows to try to get a bit more sleep. The foot of the bed also higher than the head, old building but plank or something at the head end wojld sort it. At breakfast although there were only 7 people, including me, the waitress, still working with an extremely heavy cold seemed more intent on talking to the chef rather than looking after the stocks of orange juice, butter, customers etc in the restaurant. Evening staff were let down by the rest in my opinion.
