Awful bedding.
Horrible pillows.

This resort sits right on the banks of the Yellowstone River, with beautiful views of the mountains & river. We were there for a wedding and the setting and venue are awesome.

The Yellowstone Valley Lodge is all about location, location, location. It is situated on a high bank, immediately above a bend in the Yellowstone River. Roughly 15 miles outside of lovely Livingston, MT and 35 miles to the North entrance to Yellowstone National Park, YVL is convenient to both. The cabins, however, are spartan. We had a small cabin (actually a duplex) with 2 queen beds. I thought I requested a single king bed, but that could have been my mistake. The room comes with a micro fridge (think: a 6-pack of beer and maybe a chunk of cheese), no closet space, a "table" that was 2'x3' with a single chair and a small bathroom with a shower and a single sink in the adjoining room. Interestingly, advertised as a place for anglers, there were no hooks to dry waders or store fishing gear anywhere. Oh, and there is a nightly hatch of insects, completely inside the room. Swarms of them. The Yellowstone Valley Grill was on the property was a nice, albeit expensive, restaurant with a nice wine list. If you plan to use the YVL as a base for exploring the area, it's great. If you like to lounge around your cabin, you will soon feel claustrophobic.

Beautiful setting, relaxing location

This is a gorgeous location with many wonderful things to do in nature very close by. Area has many excellent food options. Hotel’s restaurant was in the “B” range, not the “A” range. However, everything else was perfect!

Worked in a pinch. Nice rooms. Will go back when I have time to explore the outdoors

We loved staying there but we expected it to be bigger. Its very tight for 5ppl. The restaurant was terrible. Not the breakfast that was shown. They only offer limited items each day. Example, one day is french toast. I asked if they had waffles or pancakes and was told no but at check in the clerk told me they had a cook onsite who could cook what you want. We didn't use any of our breakfast vouchers that was included with price of stay.
Staff is extremely friendly. The river running behind is breathtaking.

Nice stay on the Yellowstone River, beautiful view of the river and the mountains. Nice little duplex cottages with a great restaurant onsite, all booked during our stay. Nice breakfast is included as well, very friendly staff. Very large property with a field down along the river and river access as well. Would be hard to beat the view from the patio.

We had a wonderful time! The view is unbeatable. It’s quiet, tranquil, and the breakfasts are well rounded. Can’t beat it for the price. Things of note:
1. Bring your own toilet paper if you can bc the rolls they provide are terribly thin.
2. There is AC! It’s a unit though and is pretty loud but you get over it.
3. There is a place where you can hang clothes, but there are no hangers.

The area and location really makes it for this place. The restaurant on site is absolutely wonderful.
Our stay was just one night and we arrived a bit late in the day. Arrived just in time to patron the on site restaurant. However, because we arrived late and were told we could still be served, when we walked in, we were completely ignored for a bit. Didn’t exactly make us happy. The owner eventually warmed up to us, sat us, and eventually won us over.
Upon check out, we shared with the office staff that the sliding glass door needed some attention. At night, with the lights on in the room, the bugs were getting in and covered the ceiling. It was like a summer parking lot street light with all the bugs swarming. My hubby and I are pretty laid back, so we just turned the bathroom light on and turned everything else off to get the bugs to go toward the bathroom.
The disappointment came when we mentioned it to the office staff. They said, well it is summer and summer has bugs. So they blew us off. I guess when they start to lose business and wonder why, maybe they will take their customers a bit more seriously. I mean, we didn’t ask for a discount, or money back, and we weren’t rude. We gave them a heads up. Hope they at least checked it out and replaced the sliding glass door.

Nice views cool rooms but you’re definitely paying for the views. Not really close to anything

Cabin was clean and large enough to be very comfortable. The mattress was very uncomfortable and the bathroom sink needed reattached to the wall. It was leaning forward so bad everything rolled off.

This was truly a hidden gem. Our original hotel closed due to an unfortunate event and we had to find accommodations last minute. I am glad that we changed to this hotel. The scenery is amazing and you really get a personalized feel when staying here. I couldn’t be happier. Will definitely stay here next time we travel to Yellowstone. Loved this experience.

Could not be more pleased with this lodging selection. A fabulous place to stay as a Gateway to Yellowstone. A short drive through Paradise valley to the Parks North entrance. Rooms and Property is peaceful with spectacular scenery. Private Deck overlooking the Yellowstone River and Absaroka Mountain range is a highlight as well as the delicious complimentary full Breakfasts. Would highly recommend this place to all.

This property had a beautiful view from every area on the property. The staff was so friendly, helpful & accommodating- excellent customer service. The breakfast chef/cook was very congenial & made great breakfasts. The property also has really comfortable gathering spaces for people to relax mingle & enjoy a drink or have a glass of wine.
Highly recommended & will definitely visit again!

Beautiful spot right on the river, very secluded but close to bars and restaurants in Emigrant or Livingston. We would absolutely come back.

The property itself was beautiful and in fairly good condition. The staff was friendly and there were plenty of amenities. My biggest disappointment in staying here would be the cleanliness. When we arrived at our cabin, the floors were quite dirty and there was even a dead bug on the floor by the bed. My husband and I stayed at the lodge for 6 days, and not once did we receive housekeeping. We asked and were told that we would receive housekeeping halfway through our stay at the lodge (about 3 days in), but housekeeping never came the entire time we were there. Also, the walls of the cabins are very thin and it didn’t feel private at all. We could easily hear the conversations of the people in the cabin next to ours from inside. Overall I did enjoy my stay here, and the lodge is a good place to stay. But given the price, I would have preferred to spend my money elsewhere where I would get a better quality experience for the amount I paid.

Quiet, pleasant room with amazing view.
On site restaurant had limited dinner options on the higher end of cost and taste, ( not for everyone liking ).
Complementary breakfast has simple but filling.

Room also had a back door which led to a deck overlooking Yellowstone River. They have a restaurant on the premises. A little pricey, but the food was good.
