Sympathieke ontvangst. Krakende houten trap zoals dat hoort bij een oud gebouw. Nabij het station gelegen. De plantjes op tafel in het restaurant waren echt en niet van plastic. Water in de badkamer was lekker warm. Waterkoker op de kamer om koffie te maken (theezakjes zelf meenemen voor wie thee wil).

Bouwvallig ogend zeer oud gebouw deels gerenoveerd met oude donor-bouwmaterialen die meestal niet goed passen, en wat een potsierlijk geheel oplevert. Putlucht in de verder nette badkamer. TV had geen signaal. Aankomst in ongezellige koude kamer, het duurde lang voordat de verwarming de kou had verdreven. Er stond 1 miniflesje water klaar voor 2 personen. Ontbijt erg simpel. Voor deze prijs hadden we meer stijl en luxe verwacht.

Hotel lag zentral an der S-Bahn, mit der Aachen gut erreichbar war.

The hotel was very quaint and relatively good location for our activities at CHIO Aachen. We took the bus right outside the door. Easy walk for morning pastry and coffee just up the street. The restaurant was very good for dinner and their outdoor patio was very relaxing and comfortable. Staff was very helpful with questions.

None of the issue I experienced can probably be changed as the location of the 500 year old building is next to the train, on a busy street and close to a church the chimes every 15 minutes. If the windows are closed you don't hear any of this, but summer temperatures with no room AC or fan required some open windows and exposure to outside noise. Perhaps an in room fan could help... but there was only 1 electrical outlet so choose your devices for use and charging wisely.

Excellent service from the hotel. And easy access to Aachen by train.
