The Commissary Cottage is a very special place. The property is beautiful. Time immediately slows down and there is a sense of nostalgia as you roam the property and take in the incredible views. The cottage is cozy and has all the modern conveniences. Windows, Views...Oh My! Sitting in the Rocking Chair on the deck with the incredible breeze was a favorite. The location is perfect. Great for morning walks through historic St. Marys and 1 block from the waterfront and the Cumberland Island Ferry. The Host, Don, was also exceptional. He greeted me on arrival and gave me a tour of the property. He even offered to show me around Downtown St. Marys in his golf cart. Don is very friendly but gives plenty of privacy. The perfect Host. This is an incredible location and I look forward to the opportunity to visit again.

Our days in the Commissary Cottage were entirely perfect. The cottage is beautifully located and nicely furnished. We enjoyed many walks into St Mary's village, literally 1 block away. Don's care and hospitality was great. Tho the cottage in part of the main house property, privacy was never an issue. Totally enjoyable -- don't hesitate!!

Wen enjoyed out stay the property had great vies and was great for the Two of us and our One year old golden retriever. A lot of wildlife to keep the dog always on high alert. We were able to walk to the town center and waterfront. Don the property manager was helpful and was willing to give history of the property.

Beautiful place filled with antiques and all the supplies for cooking. The area is fantastic with not more than an hour drive from all the barrier islands and the Okeefenokee Swamp and Wildlife preserve.. Cumberland island visit is a must! Cottage is set on the marsh and walking distance to town and restaurants. We had a great vacation!

This cottage is well equipped, much more tastefully furnished and decorated than most rentals, quiet, & very well located; the grounds of the property are lovely and well maintained. For a couple, the cottage is clearly the best place to stay in St. Marys or the surrounding area.

Our stay was wonderful. The property is set off the road and overlooks the marshes. The sunrises were indescribably beautiful and the landscaping around the property was impeccable. Our studio was very comfortable. It is on a shared property, but we never felt we lacked privacy. The way the cottage sits all windows face an open view.Our host, Don, was gracious and hospitable. Melody and Jaune who caretake and manage the rental checked to see we were enjoying ourselves but we were allowed plenty of space and solitude.I would recommend this property to any family and friends that may visit St. Mary’s. The town was pleasant to walk with our dogs, the streets shaded by huge oaks and lined by pretty houses.There are several restaurants in town within walking distance but we made use of our fully equipped kitchen almost exclusively. Overall we had an excellent time.We hope to visit again!

This is a pretty place, but there is no privacy! The cottage is nice but full of knickknacks. There is very little available space , and the TV is small and very far away from the sofa.

We really enjoyed the property. It's a beautiful, somewhat secluded spot with a great view of the marsh and ICW. The cottage was perfect for two people and very well equipped. We met the owner when we arrived and he showed us around. He's a very personable gentleman who we enjoyed meeting. St Marys is a small town on the ICW with interesting history. Several good restaurants and shops. Its not very commercialized which makes it more appealing to us. The boat parade Saturday night was enjoyable as was the tree lighting in the park. We plan to go back when we can stay longer and take the ferry to Cumberland Island. Can't think of anything we didn't like about the cottage or the property in general. We also drove to Amelia Island (30 minutes) to the Charles Dickens Christmas deal. It was great and we'll go back to that.

Mr. Don was very accommodating. Everything was in top condition. Would definitely stay at this property again!

This cottage was perfect for my stay. It was cozy, secluded, but walking distance from downtown. I woke up to an uninterrupted sunrise view of the marsh and intercoastal. At night, you can marvel at the lights over at Fernandina across the river. The process to check in and check out was super easy. The place is tidy and just outright comfortable. The bed was super comfortable and much needed after each day of exploring downtown and traveling for work. The caretakers were awesome and the folks that stayed in the main house were also super pleasant. Loved it here. Hated having to leave to go back to work!

Cozy and comfortable cottage! We had everything we needed for a wonderful vacation. The cottage was within walking distance to the Cumberland Island ferry and local restaurants. Thanks for your hospitality and the delicious muffins that were waiting for us when we arrived. Everything was perfect!!

Wife and I stayed at Don’s place the commissary 7/22-26. Beautiful little cottage facing the Georgia marshes and right across from Cumberland island. Really enjoyed our time getting to know this corner of Georgia better with its history and charm and loved the quiet surroundings as well. Highly recommended and hope to get back soon!

This was our first trip to St Mary’s, and we were not disappointed at all. Sitting on the porch was so peaceful & relaxing. The Cottage is very clean, and the kitchen is well stocked with anything you should need. It was a pleasure meeting Donald, and we enjoyed the blueberry muffins. Staying at the Commissary Cottage was a great decision, and we look forward to our next visit.

My husband and I stayed here for a long 4th of July weekend. The cottage was perfect--comfortably decorated, clean and inviting. The property was outstanding with beautiful landscaping and amazing views. Don was a great host. He greeted us soon upon arrival and made himself available as needed throughout our stay. We loved St. Mary's and Cumberland Island and certainly hope to come back and will definitely try to book with Don again when we do.

We enjoyed our quiet stay at the Commissary Cottage! It was clean, well appointed, and Don was a gracious host. They view of the marsh from the back of the cottage and deck is so relaxing. St. Mary's is a quiet sleepy town with lots to see. We will definitely return!

A wonderful experience with a great host! The setting was perfect for me to propose to my girlfriend watching the sun set over the marsh. The cottage was nicely decorated and very cozy. We loved being walking distance to downtown St Mary's... the fresh blueberry muffins from Don was the cherry on top of a great experience! Would love to stay again!

This is the best place to stay in St. Mary’s, Georgia. It was perfectly clean, nicely decorated, just the right size, and it was certainly a bargain for the price we paid. So close to the Cumberland Ferry and visiting the lovely downtown. The owner is fantastic and was extremely nice to us - even giving us a ride in his golf cart. We went to Cumberland Island and attend a Memorial Day Service at the Oak Grove Cemetery. We would definitely stay there again!

We have stayed there before and really liked it so we booked it again. They have gone up on their prices though. Still a great little cottage and walking distance to town.

From the moment you drive onto the property life slows down. The grounds are like a little garden of Eden. Then you open the door to the Cottage and you enter a peaceful environment. It is beautifully decorated. The kitchen is well stocked with everything one would need, from preparing a meal to pouring a glass of wine. Sitting on the front deck, overlooking the marsh, green lawn and colorful flowers is a tranquil time. The host, Don, is such a thoughtful and gracious person. It was a pleasure getting to spend some time visiting with him. Definitely our place of choice should we return some day to St. Marys.

Everything about the property was 1st rate. Upon arrival our host gave us a tour of the property which was very interesting and informative. If you are looking for a place to unwind this is perfect.

This house was comfortable and clean. It's not large, but there was plenty space for the two of us. It's set up with thought to what rental users might need. The kitchen had everything we needed. The weather was lovely so we spent a good amount of time just lazing on the porch or bird watching from the lounge chairs in the back. (lots of birds flying by, if you're into that--egrets, herons, spoonbills, wood storks, and there's a resident pair of ospreys.) There's a kayak ramp just a few blocks away. This is a good location if you want quiet, but also enjoy strolling into town (just a few blocks) for dinner. Perfect for us!

We Were Greeted By The Wonderful Owners And From That Moment We knew We Would Be Staying At A Very Special Place For The Next Five Nights. When We Walked Into The Charming Cottage,One Of The First Things We Noticed Was How Spotless It Was. The Furnishings Are Beautiful And The Linens Are Of High Quality. Not To Mention The Comfort Of The Bed. We Even Had Our Small Dog With Us And We Felt She Was Very Welcome. The Kitchen Was Also Well Stocked! The Attached Deck Was A Beautiful Place To Enjoy Morning Coffee Or An Evening Cocktail Or Just Relax And Enjoy The Beautiful Views. The Small Town Has A Lot To Offer. We Never Ran Out Of Things To Do. Cumberland Island Is A Must. The Ferry Does Not Accept Dogs But Don And Melody Can Set You Up With A Wonderful Older Woman By The Name Of Hilda. She Took The Best Care Of Our Little Morkie. If We Could Give This Place A 10, We Certainly Would! We Have Traveled All Over The World And For Us This Experience Was At The Top. They Certainly Deserve All The 5 Stars. Anything Less Than That Is Unacceptable. PS. The Muffins On Arrival Are Fabulous. We Left This Cottage Feeling Like We Made Special Friends. This quaint, yet quirky one-room little cottage is a good choice for vacationers heading to St. Mary's. It is relatively well-maintained, although some furnishing and the rug could use refreshing. Note: the walls separating the bathroom do not go all the way up to the ceiling, so one's privacy is not complete. Views out the back window and from the side deck are gorgeous to take in at both sunrise and sunset. The location is an easy walk to town, including the ferry to Cumberland Island, and a 10-minute drive to most shopping and restaurants. Owners were hospitable and responsive. The home-baked blueberry muffins on arrival were a nice touch. This is a good choice for a single person or a couple comfortable with each other in close quarters.

Excellent experience

This cottage was perfect for two people who want to relax between trips to the barrier islands of Georgia, including Cumberland Island. We loved sunrise over the marsh, which you could see from the back windows of the cottage. We had breakfast on the roomy side porch that overlooks the private oasis of a yard and the marsh beyond. The yard is edged with with palm trees and flowers--and amazing landscape. There were doves perched on the fountain each morning. The cottage had roomy chairs, some well-chosen pieces of folkart, plus all modern amenities in the kitchen--like ice-maker and water filler in the fridge. Our hosts treated us to blueberry muffins from "Spouses," the nearby bakery, and from then on we were hooked. The quiche there was thick and loaded with spinach, artichoke hearts, and cheese. We enjoyed the town of St. Mary's and spent our time hiking on the islands nearby. We were glad to have found commissary cottage. It was a relaxing and magical vacation for us.

It was the perfect place for a peaceful Christmas getaway. The views from the cottage were beautiful from sunrise to sunset. The bed was very comfortable and the kitchen well stocked with cookware, utensils, etc. Aside from the cottage, the hospitality and warmth of Don and Melody has definitely set a new high mark for us and we look forward to visiting them and staying at the Casey-Collier estate again!

We stayed in this perfect cottage on the marsh for five days after Christmas and it was a serene escape. From the bed, you can watch the sunrise over the marsh -- or you can sit on the deck and watch it next to the fountain. It's walking distance to the shore. Easy to reserve the ferry to Cumberland Island (highly recommend) and comfortable driving distance to St. Simon's, Jekyll and Amelia Islands. Don and Melody were warm and welcoming -- very helpful, yet completely unobtrusive. I'll go again! The entire property is beautiful.
