I never felt so regimented and treated like a child that needs to be supervisioned by a host in my entire life. We weren't really able up relax and enjoy the stay as we kept getting informed about ludicrous house rules and price tags to possible infringements right before our trip (but only after we could no longer cancel!) and throughout our stay: Rearranging furniture = $400. Parking in the wrong spot = $200. Not leaving the remote control on the living room table = undisclosed remote replacement fee. And so on... They only disclosed that there was a $50 pet fee after we had payed in full and could no longer cancel. Still, if they find traces of your pet: $400 cleaning fee. What is that pet fee for then if not for cleaning?! There was also zero flexibility on checkin and checkout times. In fact, EVERY 15min over time (in an already very non-generous timeframe with checkin after 4pm / checkout before 10am) is additional $100. And they didn't forget to remind us of that via text (including a list of chores to finish before leaving or being charged extra) on our last night around 7pm. The house was also very loud and bright at night since right next to PCH and single pane windows / no proper blackout shades. It also smelled weirdly chemically (think hospital cleaning products). We left early since we didn't feel welcome or relaxed. They then have the audacity to try and pressure you into a five star rating by guilt tripping you and offering a voucher on exchange for five stars. This whole property seems like a dodgy venture to rip off tourists. Definitively not worth the price despite the prime location! UPDATE: They actually tried charging us $500 for allegedly damaging their rug after our stay. We were super careful inside the house, even brought house slippers to wear inside, and definitely didn't damage anything. Super shady business practices!
