Very nice environment, a warm inviting atmosphere. I especially like the walk in shower. I do think a microwave would be a nice addition. Some better choices to view on the TV would also be nice. Otherwise, very comfortable and a central location.

The El Capitan is reliably clean and comfortable with lovely decor. The staff is always welcoming and friendly. The restaurants serve well prepared, fresh foods. Only drawback, the midnight train whistle, but the hotel thoughtfully provides earplugs for that.

This is my second stay in El Capitan in Merced. It is a lovely hotel. The convenience of having an attached coffee shop and restaurant is a real plus to jetlagged travelers; The service and location are excellent. Once in a while, the Wi-Fi can be a little wonky, but it's nothing that would get anyone off track.

One of my many trips to Merced to see my son at UCM. This hotel never disappoints! The rooms are beautiful with unique decor so you don’t feel like you are in a generic hotel. Very comfortable beds, large bathroom and great amenities. I highly recommend!

A really lovely old hotel that has been nicely upgraded to modern standards. Everyone, from the front desk, to the people working the bar, to the valets, to the cleaners were friendly and helpful. The decor is quite pleasant and features art work from local photographers and painters. The bed and pillows were comfy and the room well appointed. Frankly, I was surprised.

I recently stayed at the El Capitan in Merced on my way to Yosemite and was truly impressed by the beautiful room and stunning decor throughout the hotel. The aesthetic really adds a special touch to the experience. The on-site restaurant and coffee shop were also top-notch, offering delicious meals and great coffee. I appreciated the pet-friendly atmosphere, even though I didn’t have a pet myself—the signage welcoming pets was adorable! A unique touch was their offer of local seeds for guests, highlighting the importance of agriculture in the Central Valley. It was a lovely gesture, encouraging guests to take some seeds home and understand their impact on community and home gardening. The only downside was the noise in the morning from nearby construction, which was a bit disruptive. Despite this, I enjoyed my stay and would recommend the hotel for its charm and quality amenities. Looking forward to visiting again!
