Situé à mi-chemin entre la ville historique de Douvres avec son célèbre château et la pittoresque station balnéaire de Deal. "Garlands Retreat" jouxte la maison du propriétaire et se dresse sur leur propre terrain d'un peu plus d'un acre dans le petit village de Sutton-by-Dover.

We arrived with three Dachshunds. Apart from being very impressed with the accommodation, we checked the security of the garden which I would have to say was faultless, even our smallest at 5kg could not find her way out to escape, which was very reassuring. Property is large and well decorated. Garden is fenced and has patio, table and chairs. Shower was lovely and hot and in a modern bathroom.
Kitchen is large and has most items but couldn't find oven gloves and microwave is ancient.
Wine and jam was nice offering but no tea, coffee or milk available which was not great as nearest shop is 4 miles away!
Bedrooms are well presented although main bed was small and makes alot of noise as springs in base and matress. Couldn't find hairdryer.
Lovely quiet area if you want off the beaten track. Definitely need a car for any amenities.
**If you have any mobility issues please be aware short but steep path that slopes two ways to front door but once in property everything is accessible.**
Overall had nice stay in a pleasant place for a few days at a reasonable price.
Recommend walking along the lovely canal into Canterbury and seeing the catherdal.

We stayed for 4 nights in November. Was a lovely clean property with lots of room. The bed was very comfortable to sleep in, there was a large fridge / freezer and all the kitchen equipment you could need. The location was very quiet with beautiful countryside views. There was no phone signal but the wifi was good so we just enabled wifi calling on our phones- only if needed as was nice to be off the grid for a change! Lots of books, dvds and games were available to use. Would stay again.

The property is a home from home and a lot larger than we expected. Plenty of space, lots of extras in the cupboards, a large selection of dvds and a welcome gift. We loved having this as our base to go off exploring, the location is perfect for visiting Dover, Ramsgate, Margate and Deal. A highly recommended value for money option.

We had a wonderful three night stay at Garland's Retreat over the Easter weekend. The bungalow is very clean and had everything we needed (and more). It was a great base for us to explore Dover and Deal castles and we also managed a trip to Sandwich. Yes, the WiFi is patchy, sometimes non-existent, but it certainly didn't impact our break. I'm so glad we booked - it's a beautiful place to stay.

We really enjoyed our stay at Garlands Retreat. It is one of the cleanest holiday homes I have ever stayed in. It is lovely and spacious and very well equipped. It is situated in a very peaceful location. The only down side of this is lack of phone coverage and slow wifi during the evening. Our dog loved running around in the secure garden and it was great to have a supply of towels for wiping her paws when coming back in.

If you want to get away from everyday life, then look no further than Garlands Retreat. Set in a beautiful rural location, It’s the perfect place to unwind. The cottage is spacious and well laid out and was perfectly clean upon arrival. The welcome pack of wine and jam is a lovely touch and Lynne is a great host, just next door should you need anything. Cannot recommend Garlands Retreat enough.

This is a wonderful cottage bungalow with all the facilities you need to feel at home with ease. All kitchen utensils, cleaning products, towels, iron, books, games and dvd's supplied and many more home comforts make this a welcoming place to stay.
Highly recommend this retreat to anyone wanting some peace and tranquility with the opportunity to explore numerous English Heritage sites close by. The vast open countryside surrounding this cottage make for beautiful views; a truly refreshing, idealic location.
Lynne, the host, was always contactable and was really kind in letting some of our friends visit for a BBQ during our stay.

Super place to get away from the noise
My pregnant partner and I visited with our 2 year old. We were looking for somewhere quiet and remote in Kent and found it! The property was excellent for a young family, well equipped with everything you could think of. Including some night lights which we needed! We felt very secure and enjoyed looking at all of the animals on the property. The main highlight was that Solly’s Farm was only a 30 minute walk away. It did involve walking along a main road for about 10 minutes before walking through a public footpath through fields. It was always worth the walk to get the reward of the ice cream at the end. Owner lives on the property and we only saw them once when they popped around to help us with the internet. If you’re looking for somewhere to make phone calls from this isn’t the place for you, but the internet is present and we were able to watch films in the evening using our Apple TV box which we took along.
It’s a straightforward drive to Deal from the property to purchase essentials. Great stay and would visit again.

The property is in the most beautiful setting so calming and peaceful yet also so easy to get to all local attractions and amenities. Perfect location.
Staying through the winter time we appreciated the central heating and double glazing which kept the property lovely and warm.
Thank fully we didn’t have any problems here but regardless the host was always contactable and responsive for any questions I had.
