It looked nice
I couldn't breath because of the mold smell and the scents they used to mask the mold smell made it worse.
I only wanted one room with a bathroom and it was a huge two level with two separate bedrooms. The was even a upper and lower bathroom.
My family was staying at another hotel and The El Rancho didn't allow visitors. That big space made me feel lonely while I was there.

There was a waiter Jesus in the morning who was super friendly when the actual restaurant space was open in the morning. He was very accommodating. The view was awesome and the beach was right out-front Unit 23. The greenery, plants trees were very beautiful and lush.
The whole place is old and tired and dirty. The kitchen was dirty, cracks in the tile counter top. We didn't feel like spending our first day sanitizing the place so we didn't use the kitchen. We were in Unit 23 Beachfront, most expensive unit. We feel totally ripped off. The beds were very hard and uncomfortable. Despite the beachfront view, the windows were filthy and the blinds didn't have anything to attach the cord to in order to keep them open. So it was pretty much dark and dingy. The wooden furniture was unstained and full of stains. All the Stainless steel light switches were very dirty and rusty. The restaurant, was equally tired and the windows were so dirty you could hardly see out. All the inside doors were louvered and the upstairs loft, bathroom, and bedroom were very noisy if someone was moving around. TV was very small. The upstairs toilet was running on and we tried to get them to fix it. They came by and it worked one time after that. It needed proper fixing. There is no iron or ironing board or blow dryers which are pretty standard. The upstairs bathroom windows didn't close properly so it added to it being very loud from people in the hallway at the restaurant. The breakfast ranged from an outdoor/indoor room with 3 steam tables consisting of soggy tortillas in a sauce, watery re-fried beans, and pancakes. They had a make-shift egg station. There was ham, hot dogs and a few veggies, with no cheese to offer for omelette . Nothing was on ice or chilled for food safety. On some days you would go to the restaurant and it was a bit better but very limited. There were no dish cloths, kitchen soap or tea towels but they want you to wash your own dishes. The pool is freezing cold and the hot tub was luke warm. The towels were rough and dingy and seemed very old. We have travelled to Mazatlan many times so we were not expecting a luxurious resort however this place is in serious need of renovations.

The most we like it Was that we were almost in front of sea and the villa it were situated in very nice plase with a beautiful shore...
The construction seems like 80' and smell like humidity a little beat.

Great family value. I would consider this a two bedroom townhouse. Our townhouse did not share any walls with another unit. Plenty of room for four adults and two children. Full kitchen with pots and pans, plates, glasses and utensils. (There was no dish soap or dish sponge) Our breakfast was included as was a five gallon bottle of drinking water. Two swimming pools, a wading pool and a large regular pool. There is a large Hot Tub, however it was empty during our stay, possibly due to COVID-19. Beach access is great. Two bedrooms upstairs with a king in one bedroom and two full beds in the other. Two bathrooms, one upstairs and one downstairs. Daily maid service. Friendly staff. Restaurant and bar staff were great. The gated parking seemed very secure with a full time attendant only 10 meters from the car.
Could use a little bit more building maintenance, but everything worked fine. Plenty of heat, AC and hot water. The full sized refrigerator was practically new.

Ocean view but waves were really strong in that area, had to walk down coast to find calmer place.
Very old appliances and furnitures. Not clean, definitely not a resort. Breakfast was basically the same everyday and not very tasteful. Parking lot is way too small and even tho they say parking spots can’t be saved, they still do it and pay employees to save spots for other people. WiFi does not work, whole trip could not connect to anything. Don’t recommend booking boat trips from hotel office either, they recommend one that was awful and a waste of money. You have to ask for shampoos and soaps and dish soap and sponge. The list goes on. Not recommended.

Good location. The beach and the pool are great. The staff were kind and accommodating.
Updates desperately needed. We encountered lamps with no plug in, just dangling wires, broken windows and shades that could not be shut for privacy.
