We loved the cottage. It was extremely clean and comfortable I especially appreciated the crisp bed linen! The views are stunning and we can highly
recommend The Mote and The Old Schoolhouse restaurants in Port Isaac.
Do expect a lot of tourists taking photos outside the cottage. And don’t forget to lock the door once inside as we had a couple of tourists take photos at the front door and then try the handle and open it!

To stay in Fern Cottage was magic. We loved sitting on the landing upstairs and watching the harbour. It’s a lot more private up there. The passing tourists are annoying, especially when they come up the front steps and hang around, leaning on the dining room window.

We had a wonderful time. The home was beautiful and cozy. The town was quaint and the people were wonderful to meet. We loved walking around and seen the sights Plus definitely a must stay location.

A must do for die hard Doc Martin fans. Wonderful property. A gem in Port Isaac.

Had a lovely few days here. A couple of issues promptly sorted by Shirley. Lovely property with beautiful views of the harbour in a great position.
Very warm with everything you need. Didn’t attempt the parking but did drive around to drop the luggage off and parked in the top car park about a five minute walk up a hill (can take a more scenic sea view route that is flatter but takes longer) although apart from the tight opening at the end of the street it wasn’t as bad as I feared - small car better
Expect a lot of people taking photos outside but it wasn’t a problem and quite amusing
Would stay again

We were so happy to rent Doc Martins cottage for 3 nights. It was worth driving the very narrow roads to get to Port Isaac. We were glad to have a parking spot. The cottage is close to restaurants and trails. Nespresso pods thoughtfully provided as most shops aren't open early for coffee. Chapel Cafe a few doors down is wonderful. Don't miss dinner at the Mote on the harbor.

Our motivation for staying here was to have that iconic view and just have that "feel good" that the Doc Martin series provides. It really was surreal to stay in "the surgery". Due to the expense, it will be a "once and done" experience for us, although we'd like to return to Port Isaac and stay elsewhere.
The layout of the cottage makes excellent use of the available space and the interior decorating is lovely. We enjoyed views of the harbor from every living space. The garden gives an even better perspective.
You must rent with the understanding that there will be a constant stream of visitors who walk by, chat, and take pictures of the house, and they may not always stay off the terrace.
Although we didn't cook dinners, there were plenty of pots and pans and dishes to do so. We put the microwave, electric kettle, fridge, and toaster to good use. The heated towel rack was unexpected, and we were happy to be able to do laundry.
The house is centrally located, and a small car can be parked out front. Be careful of stinging nettles when loosing the chain across the terrace. Also, the lockbox is on the back side of the house. The front door locks by turning the handle up and then using the key/lock mechanism. The heaters have individual controls.
Shirley was responsive to all of our questions and concerns and made the stay easy. I can fully recommend Shirley and Fern Cottage.

Absolutely beautiful property in a picture postcard village!
Warm and comfortable, beautifully furnished and with views to die for.
The Landlady couldn’t have been mote helpful with tips and suggestions to give us a perfect stay.
Even when the weather (Storm Ciàran) hit! It was a perfect snug bolthole to watch the storm, drink tea and enjoy!
Can’t fault it!

Two adults and a 2.5 year old stayed 4 nights in October 2023. We loved it. The location is terrific and the home itself is lovely. It was very comfortable and warm/dry, which came in very handy for the chilly rainy evenings. Driving to the cottage wasn’t as difficult as we’d feared, though pretty tight in spots. We also enjoyed meeting folks coming to see the house and take photos because of Doc Martin. We met a lot of interesting and friendly folks this way.

Of course, this place is a must if you are a Doc Martin fan. It is clean and well cared for. The only draw back for me is that it is very musty. Not sure what you can do about that. Maybe a dehumidifier? We were easily able to air it out by opening all the windows, but were fortunate enough to have great weather that made that possible. I recommend this place for sure unless you have asthma or other breathing issues or allergies.

The cottage is lovely and the village is amazing. .
We parked in the New Road car park and walked to the cottage which was much better than trying to negotiate driving in Port Issac.
The cottage was lovely and cosy and while there were people taking pictures outside I just kept the blinds closed and it was fine.

Loved staying here... The views were simply spectacular. Familiarizing ourselves with many of the places that were familiar to us made Port Wenn come to life.
The real world Port Isaac was charming as well. Loved the super local feel.
The cottage was very well appointed and made our stay the best!

Having been a Doc Martin fan for a while it was amazing to stay here.the cottage is lovely inside with everything you need.the views are stunning from every window. Just be prepared for the fans outside taking photos constantly.

When you stay in a place that has become a Mecca for millions of fans you sort of share the glow of fame. At the same time you have to accept what comes along with that. If you'd find it irritating to have a constant flow of people outside taking photos and chatting maybe you should ponder the idea. It didn't bother us and in fact we enjoyed interacting with some of the fans we encountered. The views are spectacular. It's fully equipped. If you're coming by taxi I recommend you ask them if they will deliver you to the door or drop you off at the bottom of the hill.

Fun to actually stay in the building shown as Doc Martin's Surgery. But of course, the interior is not what is used for the actual filming. Fine accommodation for a brief stay. Owner appropriately warns that small car is needed for parking. Very, very tight parking space. Hot water is fine in the mornings, but quirky other times. Great spot for exploring Port Isaac. Comfortable beds.

A treat to stay at Fern Cottage again. Everything was as I remember it from 2015. Our weather was on the chilly side and the heat only worked in the dining room. The trash was attacked by sea gulls - picked it up several times - needed more trash bags and an outside container to keep gulls away. The key box is not at the back door, but past the door and in the back of the cottage. Overall a very pleasant stay.

What an amazing experience. We felt like a celebrity with paparazzi outside!
Fantastic stay, beautiful cottage. We had a slight problem with the hot water and after contacting Shirley it was all sorted within half an hour.
A great place for any Doc Martin fan or a base for a gorgeous Cornwall break with stunning views out of every window.

The hosts were so helpful and kind. Little White Cottage is in a perfect location to visit different areas of the Cotswolds. There was a lovely private tennis court just outside the cottage, so bring your rackets and tennis balls if you like tennis. I would recommend a local pub called The Hare, which is just a few-minutes stroll away. I definitely would stay at Little White Cottage again!

We take full responsibility for our ignorance. We should have done more research, but we had no idea how much of a cult the "Doc Martin" programs were in the UK. There were hundreds of pilgrims filing by the house from 10 to 4 every day. Every couple had to take pictures of themselves in front of the house, and sometimes posed peering in the windows or trying to open the front door. Signs marking the property as private have no effect. The house is close to the road so one hears every conversation, especially the commentary from large tour groups. We found it oppressive; others may not. We ended up leaving a day early. To be fair, the house is charming and comfortably furnished. It is just as picturesquely sited as the pictures indicate. The house seemed not to be stocked with some basics (paper towels, sugar, laundry detergent), but perhaps expectations for holiday lets are different in the UK. The streets of Port Isaac are hair-raisingly narrow and crowded with summer visitors. (The route to the house and its parking place is particularly challenging.)If you can, pack lightly and walk from the car park outside town.

Traditional little cottage that has been thoughtfully renovated to include modern kitchen & bathroom. Wonderful harbour views, and walking distance to the centre of the village.
We really appreciated the comfortable beds, quality linen, off-street parking, gorgeous views, and central heating that kept the cottage cosy warm. Oh ... and very fast Wifi!
I learned that for my car, parking was best done by reversing in, and driving out. May not work for everyone!
I only found out after we arrived that the action of much of Doc's story took place on a film set, but the outside is exactly as pictured.
Thank you for a very memorable stay!

The best location and view in the whole village! If you are a fan of Dr Martin, it is a must stay place. Some might find people taking pictures of the house overwhelming, but for us it was fun. Make sure you have no bigger car than small SUV, otherwise parking will be challenging. Nice touch was 9 seasons DVDs of Dr Martin series + some other movies taken in Port Isaac. It has everything for cooking, utensils, tea, coffee, etc. It is heated well during cold season, shower is hot, just need to learn how to manage it. You will not want to leave.

We very much enjoyed our stay at Fern Cottage. We arrived from London after dark and were a bit timid about driving our Vauxhaul wagon up the hill. Marcos, a local taxi driver, pulled up behind us and happily raced it up the hill where Doc Martin confronts the merciless teenage girls. After that, I had the confidence I could do it myself as well as backing onto the parking pad. The cottage was very nicely appointed and the views were great. The owner was very gracious and the locals were welcoming. The Mote restaurant at the bottom of the hill made room for us. We should have thought to make reservations before our trip. All should know that driving to and from this property is not for everyone. The streets are narrow and cars over 6 feet in width are rightly prohibited.

All was great however for us as we’re from from the US, it would have helped to have written information on how to work the heater and the electricity and the toilet sanitizer, (had a small flood)but thanks Shirley for sending you kind assistant to help. Never could figure out how to use the washer/dryer combination, we hand washed, or the stove top. But no worries we cooked our eggs in the oven. We would definitely return 😊

We arrived a bit late but had no problem finding the cottage nor checking in. Typical of the other properties in the area parking is tight and I wish that we had brought a smaller car. The one issue that we had was taken care of promptly and the communication response time with Shirley was amazingly quick. We look forward to our next trip to the area to explore more of the surrounding countryside

This is a great property, but the constant flow of tourists becomes a little overwhelming over time - if only it hadn't been made so famous by a particular doctor - but then again, that's why you're here, isn't it?

We were so excited to stay in the "Doc's Surgery". The house is very comfortable, with lovely bedrooms, a spacious bathroom upstairs and a guest toilet conveniently located downstairs.
We loved the grass terrace up the steps from the house...what a view! Perfect spot for afternoon tea.
The location is close to the harbor area and shops, just a short walk down the hill. The location is also very convenient for taking the path up out of town toward Port Quin. It's a lovely hike with stunning views of the coastline, and of scenic Port Isaac.
Our host provided all the information needed...checkin was a breeze, and communication was quick and helpful.
Note: There is quite a bit of Doc Martin fan traffic on the path outside the front door. The folks were never intrusive, and we met some wonderful people!
10.0 / 10.0
The cottage is nicely kitted out and there are lovely sea views from almost every window. There are many Doc Martin fans who like their picture taken by the cottage, so keep the blinds shut if you don’t want to see them; it didn’t bother us. Please know it is a sharp turn into Roscarrock Hill and it is extremely narrow for driving in places so it is very difficult for a large car unless you are an expert. The plus side is there is rarely traffic past your door so the evenings and nights are lovely and quiet and with the window open you can hear the sea. Port Isaac is a village full of character in its own right. There is very little car parking in the village, therefore the New Road car park just outside is best for cars. The only supermarket is the Co-Op which is not far from the main car park just mentioned. However there are eateries in the village so you shouldn’t go hungry or thirsty if you don’t bring much food with you.
We loved staying there.

Staying in Port Isaac at Doc Martin's surgery was a dream come true. We had a wonderful time. The location in town can't be beat. The house was clean and the beds were comfy. I would recommend this location to anyone considering a trip to Cornwall.
A few things I would be aware of.. The house is the most popular tourist stop in town so be prepared for a nonstop parade of people looking in the windows and taking pictures of the house. Also, for an American, the hot water system for the shower was a mystery, we only had hot water showers once, the first day. There are no screens on the windows so you will get bugs in the house if you leave them open, but not nearly as many as you would in America of you had no screens. The doorways are all very short, I hit my head several times even though I tried to keep ducking all the time. Overall, we loved the visit and we hope to visit again in the future.

Had a lovely stay here, yes it needs a lot doing to it but you are going for the location more than anything else. Absolutely beautiful view but yes there is a constant stream of people outside taking pictures etc but that’s to be expected.
Very tight roads and parking so definitely would not recommend taking a big car but overall a beautiful place to stay .

A lovely week in Port Isaac
We booked the Fern Cottage because of it’s location, view from the house and because it looked so pretty. We found out after booking that Fern cottage has also been used in the Doc Martin TV series. The view from the main bedroom is the best in the house and this is a lovely room. The twin bedroom is very pleasant and has a clear view of the harbour. A sink in this room was helpful as there were four adults staying in this house and only one bathroom (there is a second lavatory downstairs). The dining room comfortably seats four people and there are French doors to the side of the house, where we sat outside in the morning enjoying the view. The lounge is comfortable. The kitchen is small but fully equipped and has pots, pans and utensils but we couldn’t find any scales so had to guess quantities- but that wasn’t really a problem. The garden behind the house is reached via a series of very steep steps to flattish lawn terraces where we enjoyed sitting. The grass has been cut but all the surrounds are fairly wild. The view to the harbour is spectacular. Port Isaac is a lovely little village with a range of shops and excellent restaurants and cafés. All of these are only a few minutes walk from the house. Driving in Port Isaac is exactly as has been described, a challenge! There is a parking space outside the house, and fits a small car, but our long, low car was was unable to go up the incline to it. We parked up the hill in the New Road carpark, about 10 minutes walk from the house. This was no problem and we enjoyed walking various routes up through the village or along the footpath with the sea views. Shirley is a good host and responded to emails promptly. There is a local housekeeper who quickly arrived after contacting. Having featured in the TV series Doc Martin, people look at the front of the house all day long. There are two village walks a day and the tour leader stands in front talking. We got used to people standing in front of the windows and front doors taking selfies. There are Venetian blinds and these can be tilted so that sightseers do not see inside. Unfortunately, the house whilst lovely is a little tired. It is also for sale. Nonetheless, despite minor niggles, the house is comfortable and the location is very hard to beat!

Perfect stay in Port Issac with amazing views
Great place to stay in Port Issac. Cottage is cosy and well equipped whilst remaining traditional. Would definitely return.

Disappointing
The view from the property over Port Isaac and the harbour is stunning. The property is well equipped and the beds very comfortable. Sadly the property needs some attention. Chipped and dirty paintwork throughout the cottage, chipped and cracked tiles on the bathroom floor, a dirty stair carpet that was in desperate need of a clean. The towels, although freshly laundered were like cardboard and the towelling robes were grubby. The headrest on the armchair in the sitting room was badly stained and the remaining seating offered no comfort. I expected a lot of interest in the property but It was like living in a fish bowl, people peering in through the windows even though my car was parked outside. Sadly there is no garden furniture or seating in the terraced garden at the back.

Trip to the Doc's
We were delighted to rent Fern Cottage. Our family enjoys all the Doc Martin shows and could hardly believe our luck renting the Cottage. It was very comfortable, view spectacular and we got to see filming the morning we left.

Lovely Stay!
We truly enjoyed our stay at Fern Cottage! They were filming the last season of Doc Martin and used the entryway and exterior of the cottage for one day while we were staying there. We got to watch the filming and meet most of the actors and crew, including Martin Clunes, and everyone was so nice!
A couple things to note, the heating was inconsistent and kept shutting off because it was on some kind of timer. It didn’t function properly even after someone came to check it but we communicated about it and resolved the issue just fine. When the hot water runs out, it runs out immediately and takes a long time to make more. And parking is a bit scary and challenging, but that’s just how it is here. We rented a larger car and regretted it since the road is so narrow (especially at the bottom of the hill, you have to squeeze between two buildings!) and the parking space is very tight but we made it work. Driving in Cornwall is always an experience. :) But overall, we had a great stay and enjoyed the cottage and our time in Port Isaac very much!
