We had a wonderful stay! The house was beautiful, had great parking. The communication with Roberto was great. We would recommend this home!

Unfortunately I have to say there was a little "Bait and Switch" going on. On arrival I met with maybe the wife of Roberto, and was informed that we had been placed in a different house than the one we rented, apparently they thought it was better suited to our party. The house we were put in was not anywhere near the image of the one we rented, to add to that there was broken glass all around, mold, broken screen doors, sliders that where almost impossible to open, windows all etched and not clean. The pool wasn't very clean. Although Roberto had said we could enter early and leave late (which I found very accommodating of him (whom we didn't meet at all) our overall expreiance was not the best.

As soon as we walked out the doors into the deck we were blown away by the view of the Volcano directly off shore. There is an almost 180 degree view of the ocean and the setting is superb.

We booked this large home for 10 nights, over 6 months before our family trip. There were 9 of us and we wanted space to relax and a base to enjoy Sao Miguel. This home provided a good amount of space, the yard with pool was beautiful and the location was great. Those are the good points.
However, I gave it two stars for several reasons. The biggest reason is that the landlord/renter cancelled our last night only 3 days before our arrival. We were left with no place to stay for our last night since all of our flights were booked the following day. That left us with having to find lodging on very short notice. Needless to say, we were not happy at all. The owner reimbursed us for one night. But one night’s reimbursement was not nearly enough to cover the costs for lodging for all of us. The owner found an apartment that “slept 5” but that was it. He said he couldn’t help us otherwise.
Apparently, after doing some research, we discovered that VRBO allows hosts to basically, do whatever they want and that the relationship is between the owner and renter and that VRBO does nothing to help secure services, alternatives or even take action against owners that cancel people’s reservations. . So, please beware.
The house was lovely, in general…but it did not have a washer and dryer, as was stated on the VRBO website. It only had a washer. And, with the amount of rain that Sao Miguel gets (and we got) , it is difficult to dry clothes on a clothesline.
It also advertised 3 bathrooms, including 3 showers. Unfortunately the 3rd bathroom only had a toilet and sink, not a shower, as listed on the website.
We were aware that there was no air conditioning in the house and that , in general, many rentals do not have AC. However, there were no fans in the home, neither overhead or freestanding. And, since we were there in Sept with temps in mid to upper 70’s and high humidity, it got very warm. We needed to open all sliding doors and there were no screens. In general, there were not a lot of bugs, but at night, several of us got numerous bug bites during our stay. Lastly, the website says it is walking distance to the beach and to main town which it is not.
A recommendation is to put in overhead fans and at least some screens to help with airflow.
We loved our experience on the island, just were disappointed with our renting experience.

Spent a week at this property with family and friends - 7 in total. Plenty of space all the amenities needed, great location to town and beach. Pool and views were absolutely spectacular. Roberto was gracious and very helpful. Loved our stay here and look forward to returning again.

We loved our time here and Roberto was super helpful (even when our flight home got canceled and we were scrambling for a place to stay an extra night). The house is beautiful, I loved falling asleep listening to the waves. The pool was great to have for the kids and plenty of space for my husband, our kids, my parents and our nanny. The house was very peaceful, near a couple pretty and Sandy beaches as well as the marina for water activities and easy to drive to other parts of the island. Given our group size we ate most dinners at home and the kitchen was fully stocked. We were there in mid July and the ocean breeze was perfect (didn’t miss having air conditioning). Thanks again!

Wonderful house and convenient location, just a couple of minor issues
Outstanding spacious house, lovely pool and yard with picnic tables, grill, view of ocean and nearby island. Walkable to beach, town, and harbor, though roads are narrow and some areas have no sidewalks. Glitches--2 days there was very little, then no hot water (and we didn't all shower at once!) and no response from owner. Grass mowing and weed whacking didn't need to be done one afternoon, annoying noise and disruption, and the pool was full of grass clippings--owner did respond when I complained. Little things like no paper towels or shower soap and very little toilet paper and hand soap. We bought all these items but expected they would be provided. Three bedrooms streetside--unexpected traffic noise and barking dogs during the night and early morning, just be aware. Washer but no dryer, small clothesline. Overall, a GREAT place, and i don't like to complain--but sometimes the devil's in the details. We would consider returning, so the issues weren't that bad! Awesome trip for 9 of us!!!

Wonderful trip
We loved how accommodating and friendly Roberto and his son, Bruno, were on our trip. The location of the property and the spectacular views were amazing.
The grounds were lovely and the pool made the place a recommended place to stay. The house was very spacious and modern. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Roberto’s lovely house.

Beautiful home and wonderful host!
Family of 7 enjoyed our stay here for 5 nights- the home is beautiful, clean, and spacious in a safe neighborhood with parking. Lovely location and view! The town of Vila Franca was perfect for a home base to explore the entire island- quaint town, and marina just a short 10 minute walk away. Can book whale watching from this marina too. Huge grocery store just a 3 minute drive- we picked up delicious breakfast and sandwiches for picnic from the cafe inside. Really great restaurants near by- Caloura Bar, Casa do Abel, and Atlantico- all recommended by our most gracious host. Loved having the pool, but too cold for us to swim in late May. Will have to go back! Would strongly recommend this home! Obrigada Robert!

Very beautiful and pleasant villa had a wonderful stay
We had a really wonderful stay for 7 days at the villa really lovely and beautiful had everything you needed in the kitchen.
Very clean and well organised.
Roberto was very accommodating I had to change my dates by a few days he did this no problem we also asked if we could leave later on the day we was flying home and he said no problem very nice man indeed.
My boys loved the villa age range from just turn 3 to 10 plenty of space you won’t be disappointed.
The property had a washing machine very handy along with smart tv so could watch Netflix and Disney open WiFi had a wonderful time and the island was amazing so beautiful

Stunning Ocean views
Our host Roberto was very attentive at check in and also helped us get car rental from a local company. The villa is well equipped and had ample space for our 7 guests. The property is in a quiet neighborhood and close to grocery stores and several restaurants. This is a great base location for seeing the entire Island.

Beautiful home in a convenient location
Roberto was very accommodating when we needed to change our check-in time. He did ask that we pay an additional cleaning fee when we checked in that I wasn't expecting.
The house is luxurious, clean, and comfortable. The pool was clean and our 6 year old loved it. The kitchen was functional and the washing machine worked well. We would definitely stay here again.

Lovely views...Luxury...NOT SO MUCH!!!
Our 4 adults arrived for our 4th trip to the island, to explore, relax and visit some of my family. The house is in agreat area and close to town and many of the great sites. The home is in MUCH need of repairs and is showing its age and lack of maintenance. Most of not all of the blinds in the house are old, rusted and completely broken in some areas. Water marks and peeling paint in the living rroom ceiling indicating an OLD leak is still very evident. The master bath was CRAWLING with ants. Lucky for us, my husband is an exterminator. NO welcome basket, which we have experienced many times in ALL of the other homes we visited over the years, both small and large, no basic needs. Cleaners etc. No sugar, salt etc. another surprise. So off to the market to buy bug spray and cleaner, which the house was in much need of. We spent a few hours cleaning and organizing things for the week and finally relaxed. YOU must try one of our favrite places to eat In Ponta Delgada, Tasca, the place is amazing. Never dissapoints!!! We paid on arrival for the cleaning lady to come mid week for a cleaning and new towels. NO NEW LINENS. While this young lady was as sweet as could be she maybe cleaned for about 1 hour and spent the rest of the day - From 9am -3:30 pm sitting reading magazines and talking with us, even after we let her know that if she was done, she could leave. There is NO DRYER in the house, while it is clearly listed there is NONE and the dishwasher did not work, All of this would have been good to know in advance so we could prepare. While I had been emaling the owener for a few weeks and spoke to him at lengths. As I speak the language and actually am from the acores. I was dissapointed in the condition of this home. Hubby was able to find the source of the ants and BOOM, no more ants! I spoke with the owner regarding all of the issues we had and initially he was very defensive, he did apologize and offered no resolutions! We love the island and wul be back in September just not to this home!

Brilliant week away
We stayed with Roberto for a week at the end of September. The house is amazing. beautiful views over the harbour at Villa Franco do Campo. Roberto is an excellent host and came and picked us up from the airport when our flight was delayed for 3 hours and even posted our spear guns back to us in the UK because we couldn't get them onto our return flight!
He gave us recommendations of places to visit and we had a great time exploring the island. Hot water springs at Furnas (Poça da Beija) and near Lago Fogo (Caldeira Velha) are definitely worth a visit. He also arranged a boat trip with Filipe (Azores Sea Adventures ) where we swam with wild dophins. Didn't see any whales thought but it was the wrong time of year. The tea plantation at Gorreana is a great place to visit for a few hours, free tea(!) and an in-depth experience into the workings of the factory.
The house was brilliant, exactly what we needed for the group. Swimming pool, washing machine, oven and hob. Five large double bedrooms and three bathrooms. We went running every morning to the harbour and yoga on the patio. Easy walk into Vila Franco do Campo which has some lovely restaurants overlooking the harbour and a small supermarket (although large one on the outskirts which is open on sundays).
Can't fault Roberto and his house. Will definitely look to visit again.

Absolutely Fabulous!!!
Our family of 7 stayed at the Villa from Jan. 10 - 24, 2015. This was the first time my husband had been back to his homeland in 44 years and what a wonderful way to enjoy our time! I can honestly say the accommodations were fantastic! The house is even more beautiful than the pictures. Everything is well maintained and extremely clean. The kitchen is well stocked with every dish and utensil you would need.
Roberto went out of his way to make sure everything was perfect for us. He picked us up from the airport and made a point of showing us the all the essentials on our way to the house. He even left us with a cell phone that we were able to use while we were there! If we had a question or needed directions he was there to help. The cleaning lady came in once a week and did an amazing job, leaving the house spotless! We also had fresh towels brought in twice a week. Everything was perfect.
The house is located very central to many beautiful sites. We ventured to Ribeira Grande, Furnace and Ponta Delgada and it only took 25 - 30 minutes to get any of these destinations. Highways were very good and well marked to make it easy to find our way around. It was only a 10 minute walk into the quaint town of Vila Franca do Compo where we found some very good food! The pizzeria by the ocean front was amazing. Our favorite was the Snack Bar Tasca do Traguita. Armando and his wife Felia made us feel right at home. Didn't matter what time of the evening we showed up, they were more than willing to open the kitchen and make us some great food!! Consumed a few pints of the local beer Especial there as well for a cost of .50 euros each!!!
All in all we had a wonderful holiday and will be returning. I would highly recommend this property and want to "Thank" Roberto for making this a memorable holiday.

Simply paradise!
We stayed in this dream villa for two weeks in July 2012. We absolutely loved our stay! We shared the villa with two other families, totalling 6 adults and 7 children. The place was very comfortable for all of us. Apart from mosquitos at this time of year and the fact that the windows and doors were not equipped with screens (the house does not have air conditioning either) everything was perfect.
The kitchen was well equipped and the house was beautifully and comfortably furnished. The best was the backyard with the enormous pool and the outdoor BBQ! And the view was absolutely fabulous!
Groceries and other amenities were nearby, but you preferably need a car to get around though. There is a water park two blocks away and the beach is literally 2 minutes away. If you feel adventurous, the island offers so many amazing attractions from natural pools, to hot springs and gardens.
Roberto was a real class act and very helpful (Thank you for being so accomodating!). I would recommend to anyone who wishes to visit this part of the island in style!

Beautiful modern oceanview escape
Roberto and his beautiful home was very accommodating for our group of 8. The home was secure and central to all of the amenities/sights of the beautiful island of Sao Miguel. The town, within walking distance, Vila Franco do Campo was charming and had a great local atmosphere. The house itself had plenty of space for the 8 of us. We'd recommend it to anyone, and look forward to staying there again.

To start I would like to thank you Roberto from all of us .
Our flight was delayed 3 times ...we arrived around 11:30pm and worried that it would to late for a pick up...
Roberto was waiting for us with all smiles. He had arrange a vehicle be at the airport ,help us with our luggage and drove us to the villa . On our way he took the time to shows us where to by food and have breakfast the next morning. Once arrived a the spectacular villa ,even if it was already past 1:00am ,again he took the time and spent about one hour to show us around ,how everything worked , lighting ,pool etc...
We were all extremely pleased with his devotion and dedication to us and our needs.
The next morning when we woke up and saw the view ..breathtaking ,amazing...
The villa was as per the pictures and literature...It was comfortable that we felt at home right away...
With out any hesitation ,we would and will book our next trip to the Acores at the villa.
You have made my return to my home land , after 42 years ,a wonderful memory
for me and my friends and children.
You made us feel like we were family.

Simply Amazing
This house has everything you can think of and then some! Great for large families with lots of room to spare. The description is perfect.
I went in October and the weather was great but even better was the fact that there were less tourists.
The owner was AMAZING. He was more like a friend rather then a host. He was there from the beginning to the end.
I already booked for next year!!! Thank you Roberto and the whole family for a wonderfull time and I can't wait to see you in the summer.

Multi-generational Family Trip
The listing description and photos were very accurate. There were 13 of us staying in this house, and all ages were more than happy here. Any minor issues that arose were immediately handled by Roberto. We truly appreciated his handling of airport transfers and car rentals. He was a great source of information for things to do, places to eat, etc. I would not hesitate to stay here again. The pool was great for keeping the children entertained while at the house. Seek out the smaller restaurants; the food is always excellent and the prices are better.

Fantastic Family Vacation
We have travelled to many places and stayed at many resorts but this was by far the BEST place ever, especially for 7 family members. Roberto went out of his way to make us welcome, meeting us at the airport, showing us some sites on the way to the villa, and gave us tips on where to eat and what to see. The villa is exactly as shown, the pool was awesome, and the ocean views were spectacular. The property was within walking distance of the village of Vila Franca do Campo and 2 local beaches. There was plenty of room for 7 adults and more to spare. The house was well stocked, we only needed food and clothing. Roberto was readily available when we needed him. We would highly recommend this villa and hope to return again in the future.

the house was amazing. It was exactly as showed on the pictures. Roberto is also very helpfull. He came to pick us up at the airport, assisted us at the carhire. Nothing is to much for him.
