Very good and Nice surroundings.

We visit the Lakes once a year, and we were so pleased we chose Martin's cottage this year which was perfect for the two of us. We had good comms with Martin before arrival, and was welcomed to the property by him upon arrival which was a nice touch.
The cottage itself was comfortable, with everything we needed, and the location, on a side street in the middle of Grasmere, was perfect. Having off street parking was a big plus.
We'd stay again, without a doubt, the next time we're in that area.

The location is central Grasmere so everything is close to hand. It is a traditional house so expect it to be darkish inside, not a problem as we were out on the fells every day. The owner is most helpful and very handy. The instructions are very modest but our experience of 50+ self-catering holidays meant that was no problem. The car parking is very useful and especially with EV charging included!! Well done Martin.

Had a great time. Lovely village and area. Great for Walking. Cottage is clean and has everything you need. Livingroom is pretty dark and the street outside the bedroom does get noisy in the morning. Carpark ist excellent and everything you might need is in walking distance.
Very friendly and helpful owner! Thank you very much!

A really special and much needed bolt hole in the centre of Grasmere with all modern amenities and a cool quirky feel throughout. Highly recommended.
Two minutes from the co-op and 3 mins from the nearest decent beer stop. High level and low level walks from the front door. No need to drive once parked up.

Lovely cottage, perfect for fell walking.
The cottage was lovely, with everything we needed. We were able to walk into the fells every day, and didn't have to use our car at all during the week. Martin was very friendly and informative. We would definitely recommend the cottage.

Perfect location
Lovely little cottage, right in the heart of the village. Very cosy, had everything we needed, including parking for our Land Rover Discovery. Lovely little outside space, enough room for two and a lovely sunny spot to enjoy a drink or two in the afternoon.
The jacuzzi bath was a lovely way to relax after our many walks.

Great for exploring the area.
Nice cottage with all the facilities we required.
Handy for the Co-op and local cafes/restaurants and great for getting out to the places we love, like Langdale , Ellterwater and Troutbeck.

A week at Grassmere
Overall the property had all that was needed. The location was perfect and accessable with car parking space. The manager was extremely helpful and answered questions and provided quick response.
Very disappointed that access to the swimming pool at The Wordsworth Hotel was not available. We believe due to VOVID-19. More information is needed for the accommodation, for example dust bin collection, kitchen appliance handbooks. Overall very good accommodation, we had a very good holiday and would recommend 'Lewis Bistro' for evening meal and 'Hidi's' cafe for breakfast.

Great location
Positive: Great location, cosy and warm cottage. Very comfortable bed and good quality bedding.
Negative: Poor standard of cleaning. Oven absolutely filthy. Fridge only superficially clean. Surfaces (i.e. microwave door, windows, mirrors) looked like they had been wiped with a dirty cloth leaving a "mist". Vacuum cleaner nneded emptying. Insufficient Pyrex type dishes.

Gem in Grasmere
This cottage is a gem in the heart of Grasmere and the Lakes. We had a very happy, cosy stay, everything was spotlessly clean, communications were rapid and easy and the hot bath with jets was an unexpected bonus!

Quiet, homely cottage for two
We enjoyed a lovely stay here coming up from London in the weeks just after lockdown had ended. The cottage is suited for two, we found the kitchen well kitted out - and the oven, though a little old, cooked a lovely roast. There is a bit of noise from people walking up and down College Street and a few heavier vehicles drive by early on a few mornings - you are aware of this since both sitting room and bedroom face out onto the road but really the noise is minimal and nobody is nosy (apart from one couple taking numerous photographs on the doorstep!). The bathroom is fine, we enjoyed the spa bath though note there is no separate hairdryer but an old-fashioned sort of warm-air-blower on the wall. So take a hairdryer if you have long hair! The cottage is really 'homey' and you settle in straight away. The photos as well do not do it justice, it is part of three separate cottages in one old building, you have a little patio out the back as well and Co-Op is just around the corner. Walking is obviously great and varied from Grasmere - plus you can hire a boat and row out onto the lake. Thanks for a much-needed stay and lots of open air!

Great location
Comfortable cosy traditional cottage for two. Location is excellent being in the centre of Grasmere. We parked our car and did not use it once as all amenities and great walks are right on your doorstep. We got some lovely sunny evenings so enjoyed a glass of wine in the small back courtyard. Martin the host is very helpful and happy to answer any questions. Would recommend staying here.

Fantastic location and everything required
This is located almost in the geographical centre of Grasmere, which means the entire village is within five minutes walk. The kitchen was very well stocked with everything required for cooking and washing so, if you bring or buy some groceries, it is very easy to enjoy home cooked meals during your stay. The owners are nearby and were helpful and answered all our questions.

Perfect location
We had a wonderful stay at The Old Bakery, it is in a great location and the plus of having a pool, sauna and jacuzzi at the end of a long days walk was great. I had a brief chat with the owner about the musty smell but to be fair, the property is old, and a couple of scented candles sorted it out. Overall, a great week away. Kieron

Bakery Cottage
Excellent, just as advertised. Just one small beef, access to car park was via adjacent cottage yard. Fortunately no one was staying there but it may have been a bit embarrasing if they were.

Perfect location, warm and cosy cottage.
We stayed for 3 nights in January. This warm and cosy cottage with all the amenities needed for self catering was just perfect in the evenings after a days walking. The location couldn’t be better with plenty of walks starting from the doorstep. Martin was so helpful when we asked for help after accidentally turning off the fire. It may just be due to sleeping away from home but I think a mattress topper would have made this stay even better than it was already. Would definitely recommend this cottage.

A fantastic cottage with all that is needed for a great stay.
We spent 3 nights at this wonderful cottage in mid November arriving on a cold and wet day to find the fire lit and the heating on to make the place snug and welcoming.
We thoroughly enjoyed staying here using it as a base to explore. Whilst the cottage appears small, there is ample room for a couple. The place was immaculate and you can see that the owners take pride in their property.
I would highly recommend staying here.

Cosy cottage in a great location
The cottage is cosy, well maintained and well equipped, as described in the profile. However, the best thing about this cottage is its location. It is right in the centre of Grasmere, which is itself pretty much in the centre of the Lake District. There are plenty of walks in stunning mountain scenery that can be started right from the door of the cottage and other popular towns like Ambleside and Keswick are a short drive away. The cottage has its own off-road parking, and all the amenities in Grasmere, including a good selection of restaurants and cafes, are within walking distance. The owners were very friendly and helpful, popping in to say hello when we arrived but leaving us in peace after that. As previous reviewers have mentioned, the use of the local hotel swimming pool is a great benefit.

Perfect
Spotlessly clean, with everything you need for a perfect holiday! Park your car on arrival and don't get in it again until you leave. Walks from your door, with all the facilities in Grasmere you might need. Use of hotel pool a massive asset which the owners should make more of in their advert! We didn't realise what a treat it was after a days walking. As we also had miraculously brilliant hot sunny weather, drinks on the small patio in the evening before dinner..... Owners very helpful, but unobtrusive, just nice and friendly! Highly recommended to friends! Buses every few minutes to lots of other bits of Lakes if you want to explore.

Home from Home
My wife and I had the most enjoyable holiday with everything living up to our expectations. Bakery Cottage was spotless with first class amenities. Ideally situated for walks and with plenty of places to eat just a stroll away and a regular bus service if you want to give the car a holiday. The owner Martin Wood was on hand for any queries and was really helpful and friendly. We would thoroughly recommend this property - a first class 'home from home 'and we will certainly be back
