This cozy apartment near the St Anne church was just perfect for the two of us on a budget and wanting to be in the thick of the old town. It was clean and well supplied. The host met us at the train station and helped us with luggage. The a/c kept us cool during the heat wave.

Perfect location for discovering Montpellier
We had a very friendly contact with the owner who gave us great tips for the city.
The flat contained everything we needed and most of all it is located in the heart of Montpellier, surrounded by lovely cafes, bars and nice shops.
We can definitely recommend this flat.

Immerse yourself in the 18th century
This is a very efficient apartment in the heart of Ecusson, the historic center of Montpellier. You will walk up a narrow street of cobblestones to get to it, open the dark green door and face cement steps that have been worn down over the centuries. Inside the apartment everything is modern and works - air-conditioning, dishwasher, clothes washer - but outside you are surrounded by history. And, because of all those wonderful alleys filled with bakers, shops, and galleries, you can get places quickly by foot. Explore and find your own favorites.
This apartment is not 5-star in the luxury sense. It is 5-star because it provides exactly what is offers: the experience of living in a historical setting with "mod cons." Because of its size, I think it the apartment is best for a single or couple. While there is sleeping space for more, logistics would be complicated. It's a couple of blocks from Rue Foch - the most elegant shopping street in Ecusson. Going the other way, it's about 8 minutes to the main plaza - Comedie.
I am so glad that I stay in this apartment for two weeks, and I wish it could have been for longer. Thank you Josian!

Spring in Montpellier
Property very well recently renovated and very nicely decorated. It included all appliances such as refrigerator, stove top and oven, washing machine and dishwasher. Property very well located on Place Ste. Anne in the heart of the medievil old part of Montpellier and close to boulangeries, restaurants, cafes and food stores. Every day was a wonderful experience exploring the neighbourhood.
Although the apartment is on the fourth floor (European third floor) our suitcases were carried in an out for us. The owner responded to all email messages remarkably quickly from the initial booking until our final leaving of the apartment.
The best holiday apartment we have rented in 10 years!

Excellente location
Logement très bien situé en plein centre de Montpellier, mais à la fois très calme, car ne donne pas vers la rue.
Accueil très sympathique et très arrangeant.
Je recommande fortement pour 2 ou 3 personnes

Perfect pied á terre
This small apartment perfectly suited the two of us as a base for a few days exploring Montpellier. Very clean and comfortable and well equipped: kitchen, wifi, linens, supplies, etc. Even a bottle of OJ and water in the fridge to welcome us! Basic in the kitchen for your own cooking and meal prep. Bed was very comfortable. We had no need to try out the fold-out bed, so can't comment. Everything worked well.
M. Vaché met us at the train station (NB, he suggested the McD's at the train station, but it is not actually in the station, but on the square in front. Easy to find, once you stop looking around in the station and find the right exit ). He helped with our luggage and walked us to the flat. Not far -- maybe 10 - 15 minutes, but you get oriented to the city.
The flat is in a quiet square adjacent to St. Anne's church, now a cultural / arts centre. In the square are a couple of cafés and shops. Nearby is an amazing bakery (Des Reves et du Pain -- dreams and bread) perfect for fetching baked goods . Rue Ste. Anne runs off the Rue St. Guilhem, which is full of interesting shops, restos, and cafés.
The flat looks out over the rooftops of Montpellier, facing west. Late afternoon sun and sunsets, but can be warm (we had no problem in October, but for warmer months there is A/C). There is no lift (elevator), and the flat is on the top floor (3rd floor European count, or 4th floor North American -- either way, it's 3 flights up). We didn't find this a problem despite our ages (early 60's) and bad knees -- the stairs are not steep. We ran into a few of the neighbours who all seemed friendly. Felt very safe and secure.
M. Vaché came and met us on at our appointed time for departure, to make sure we were satisfied. He offered to help us to the station, but by this time we knew our way around the city and it wasn't needed.
We liked it so much, we'll very likely book it again for a longer visit. Montpellier is an interesting mid-sized city for a residential style visit, rather than tourism. It's a beautiful very walkable city with lots of interesting shops, quartiers, and cafés, but not a lot of typical touristic sites to visit. Ergo, a good place to simply live for a week or two and life the French way! This apartment would be perfect for that or for any other reason to stay in Montpellier.
á bientôt.

Perfectly placed for historic Montpellier
Josian welcomed us at the train station and provided helpful information about the neighborhood during the short (10 minutes) walk to the apartment. You have to be prepared for the winding staircase--60 steps-- but the apartment is nicely decorated, well equipped and comfortable. The location in the old town was no more than a few minutes walking from anything we wanted to see or do. Just what you look for in a holiday stay...

Good Location & Host but Apartment needs update & cleaning
Josian is a great host, meeting us at the train station, helping with luggage and giving good tips about what to see in and around Montpellier. The location of the apartment is good, it is in a quiet area close to the centre, great wi-fi and had views over the rooftops. We spent 5 nights in the apartment and the reason we marked the stay down is that the apartment needs a very deep cleaning & updating. The bed sheets, towels, sofa and some of the kitchenware needs to be refreshed as they were old and very used. During our stay we spent time cleaning dust/dirt off of surfaces, as well as the dishes, cutlery and pans we would be using as they were stored away dirty. The apartment has lots going for it but would be much better with a good cleaning and updating of sheets, towels and kitchenware.

josians apartment is well located in the heart of Montpelliers historic district within walking distance of everything. It was clean and well equipped with a big comfortable bed, a luxurious shower, clothes washer, dishwasher and a full kitchen. Everything about it showed thoughtful attention to detail but what made our time there really shine was josian himself. He met us at the train station and escorted us to his apartment where he gave us a thorough introduction as well as gifts of juice and jams. He made it clear he was readily available for any further support and on our departure day he was there to see us off. We feel very fortunate to have had this stay as part of our vacation.

Great flat, great host
Excellent flat with all the facilities one would want on holiday. Josian was brilliant to deal
with making us very welcome and even providing milk, tea etc on arrival. I would have given
the flat 5 stars but the stairs (4th floor) are the only negative - 41/2 stars would be fairer
but the option isn't there. Absolutely no complaints except for the stairs although I left
fitter than when we arrived.

Wonderful host and location
The apartment has a great location, since it is in the historic city center. Josian was wonderful. There is a very modern bathroom and kitchen, with everything we needed. Montpellier is a great place, we enjoyed everything about it. My husband and I are in our early sixties and the stairs were doable, but a few years from now it might be too difficult. We would highly recommend it.

We stayed in this apartment for 7 nights in May 2016. It was wonderful. Clean and comfortable with everything we needed. The location was perfect, right in the historic centre of Montpellier, surrounded by cafes, restaurants and shops. The apartment was located in a square with several very nice restaurants, supermarket, laundrette nearby, and although lively the surroundings were not noisy. The apartment was walking distance to everything - train station, Place de La Comedie, trams, restaurants, shops. Our host Josian was lovely and could not have been more helpful; he was very responsive from the time of making the booking to meeting us at the train station and helping to wheel our luggage to the apartment, and then meeting us at the apartment the end of our stay. We would most definitely recommend this apartment to anyone wishing to visit Montpellier and we would certainly stay there again on our next visit.

Wonderful Location, Great Owner
Lovely apartment - we stayed in Sept. 2015 (sorry about the delay in posting!) and loved it. Clean with everything you need and a fantastic location with plenty of charm. It was on a quiet square and with a great selection of shops and restaurants just down the street. The owner was welcoming - he met us at the train station and to escort us to the apartment and helped carry our bags up to the 3rd floor. Lots of steps but we didn't mind (both of us are over 60). He also drove us back to the train station when we departed. Not a service you find everywhere. The frig was stocked with welcoming items. Anyway, Josian is a wonderful human being and we recommend this apartment without reservation. In fact, we are considering a return visit this fall. Also, check out the bakery "Dreams of Bread" just a few doors off the square where this apartment is located. A final note on Montpellier: It is a wonderful, youthful city with lots of interesting sites to visit. But, just a note to our French friends, please, at some point, consider giving up the smoking which is allowed at outdoor cafes and restaurants. It can be overwhelming but Montpellier is still well worth the visit.

Cozy, comfortable, perfect location
This apartment suited us very well for our stay in Montpellier. It is centrally located in the historic pedestrian district, on a lovely quiet square adjacent to St. Anne Art Gallery. The apartment is bright and sunny, with a charming view over the rooftops of Montpellier. Great shopping and dining options are easily accessible - in fact, very good dining options are just outside the door to the building.
Overall the apartment is quite comfortable and efficiently laid out. All the appliances and facilities worked properly, and we found the apartment to be clean upon arrival. Further, the refrigerator was stocked with some basic items, and coffee was provided for the coffee maker.
Finally, a word about our host. Josian was absolutely lovely to work with. He was extremely attentive from start to finish. He even picked us up at the airport, and delivered us to the apartment upon our arrival in Montpellier. I highly recommend this property.

"Highly recommended. The owner was extremely warm, welcoming and helpful. He left jam, wine and other groceries for our use; escorted us from the railway station and carried our (heavy) luggage up the steps to the appartment. The flat is very conveniently situated in the beautiful and historic town centre, yet was very calm and quiet. Quite a few steps means that it wouldn''t be ideal for anyone with serious mobility issues - but onnce inside, you get a lovely view over the roof tops. Inside there''s a well appointed kitchen with washing machine etc and a fairly snazzy shower. There''s also air conditioning for those who want it and wifi enabled internet and tv. Our daughter came to stay on the fold-down camp bed/sofa which worked very well.
We were very pleased with our stay!"

"The location was superb…...in the Old Quarter of Montpellier…….in an older style building, in a pretty section, surrounded by cobblestone streets. Montpellier is a city of much diversity as it has a university, therefore a large student population….the old and the new. We were very impressed because the owner met us at the station and helped us with our luggage. Being in the Old Quarter we were away from traffic, so there was no noise problem at all. We loved to just stand at the windows of the apartment and look at the view…..the roofs of the houses and light-coloured stone buildings of the Old City……..very “Zen” but in a French-Midi sort of way!
The apartment was clean, neat and compact, with tasteful décor. It was comfortable, having the requisite modern conveniences such as WiFi, satellite TV and air conditioning. My husband pressed the wrong button on the TV remote control, and I was impressed because the owner came to the apartment, simply pressed the correct button and got the TV operating again…..”pas de problème” !
I would always stay in the Old Quarter because we were able to walk to many places of interest, as well as to the station and the tram stops, and the shopping centre of the Polygone. In addition, my
husband likes to swim, so he was able to walk to the Olympic Pool which is pristine and “state-of-
the-art”. We were spoiled by our proximity to such wonderful restaurants, cafes, to Les Halles, to numerous alimentation (food/meal shops), and also to the Carrefour supermarket. It was also
In summary, we had a wonderful, relaxing time, in a beautiful atmosphere.

"This was the most wonder...
"This was the most wonderful experience. I rent apartments frequently when I travel in Europe, and this was absolutely one of my top 5 stays in any location. The renter was incredibly accommodating, not only by e-mail but in the facilities he provides in the apartment. There were essential food elements (coffee, milk, butter, jam, fruit) already provided and all the cooking essentials (olive oils, balsamic vinegar) plus the kitchen has all the gadgets, pots, and pans. The apartment was compact and charming, fully functional, and in a beautiful and unusual period building. It IS three floors up on a winding stone staircase--but for me that simply added to the fascination and charm. The bed and bath facilities were comfortable, and the air conditioning was welcome (on the third floor heat can accumulate). The views from the living room and kitchen windows are of tile roofs into the distance, as you are above most near-by buildings (so the apartment is also nice and sunny/light). The location in Montpelier is perfect--an easy 10-15 minute walk to the train station or to the central conference venue, Le Corum. The location is on the edge of the Old Town, so you walk into that area in under 5 minutes. You are 2 minutes from Les Halles, the central fruit/veg/deli/meat/fish market. There are also many delightful little groceries, bakeries, chocolatieres, wine shops immediately nearby. Right outside is the plaza for one of the smaller cathedrals. During my stay (July) there was music every night in that venue, which I enjoyed. It ended each night by 11-11:30, and the audience dispersed, so I never found it noisy for sleeping. Seemed a very safe place to be walking around, day or night."
