Wow! What a great location for a peaceful stay in Assisi! We couldn't have been happier with our time here.
Our group had 2 adults and 5 kiddos (Ranging from 14 years old - 1 year old) and there was plenty of room in this house for all. Lots of beds (Pack N’ Play offered as well) and a wonderful kitchen with lots of space for gathering as a family and enjoying any meals we had inside. (Also, lots of room on the gigantic dining room table for the kids to put together a 1000-piece puzzle in their downtime)
Honestly, this house could probably hold a group closer to 12-14 people, which speaks to how much room there was. You have 4 separate levels PLUS a balcony which overlooks the Basilica, the countryside and the incredible sunsets!
The owner, Arnaldo Rossi, was very helpful in getting us checked in and showing us the property and easy to get ahold of on WhatsApp or via VRBO. Also, nice to have in the house was a washing machine with soap provided (will need to dry laundry on the roof).
This house is one of the prettiest in all of town, as there are gorgeous flowers that adore the façade. So nice, that you will have people strolling by all day stopping to take photos of the front of the house, which is fun to see. Walking out of the front door, you turn to your left and can see St. Francis’s Basilica at the bottom of the lovely street.
For a family or large group thinking of spending some time in Assisi, we highly recommend Casa Santa Margherita!!

Our stay was wonderful! The host was very helpful. It was a dream vacation. Great communication. Home is beautiful with other tourist commonly taking pictures of it as they walk by. It was the ideal Assisi accommodation. Location could not be better. Be careful with parking since visitors are only allowed in certain parking areas and the parking area closest to the apartment will get tickets from the police who check everyday. Assisi also has mandatory daily tourist tax and requires that all visitors provide copies of passport to the police department. Most hotels handle this inconvenience for you and the host does the same. He was very helpful through it all. We are already wanting to return and we just left. Perfecto!

This was an absolutely wonderful place. Lots of space and the location was perfect. Arnaldo, our host, was excellent, responsive, and very helpful. We had a terrific time!
1. Assisi is a beautiful medieval town bursting with ambiance and history. The views from just about anywhere in town are gorgeous.
2. Parking in the city is reserved for residents only. That meant our parking was 600 meters away. At first, this seemed inconvenient, having to walk 600 meters back and forth. What about hauling groceries? By the third time I walked to get the car or walk back to the house, I rather enjoyed the walk, for it’s probably the only level street around, lined with tall slender Italian Cyress trees on both sides, and a wonderful view of the surrounding landscape. In other words, the walk was relaxing and peaceful, fitting in quite well with the whole flavor of the town ‘s motto ‘Pace e Bene’ – Peace and Goodness. Further, unloading groceries was easy as I just parked near the gate and hauled the groceries the 50 feet to our house, then drove back to the parking lot. Thus, all-in-all, parking was not a problem.
3. Internet – worked great all the time.
4. The house itself: lots of stairs. I mention this only for those who consider climbing stairs an issue. The kitchen is well equipped, and the dining room table is large enough to accommodate 8, so plenty of room.
5. The house has no living room. That was a non-issue for us as we tend to congregate in the dining room as a norm.

Clean, comfortable’ convenient. Would just ask that a little note in English tell how to set the heater and washing machine

Our second time staying in this lovely historic house, which is in a perfect location and has everything you could want or need. Thank you, Arnaldo, for being such a great host.

Great place
This was a great apartment just steps away from the Basilica. The rooftop terrace had an amazing view. Great place for multiple families. Arnaldo was very good with communication and even printed our train tickets for us. Would rent this place again!

Perfect for our group
Six of us enjoyed this lovely house while we soaked up everything St Francis and got ready to hike to Rome. Very clean, lots of space, a well stocked kitchen for big meals shared around the large table. Great views from most of the windows, including beautiful views of the sunset behind the Basilica of San Francesco from the roof top patio.
The house would not be suitable for anyone who has difficulty doing stairs.
We would love to stay here again and for even longer.
Arnaldo was a very accommodating and responsive host.

Great location in Assisi, basic accommodation at a reasonable price.
The house is set up for sleeping capacity and not for comfortable lounging. The location is excellent and parking is convenient, Arnaldo was flexible and very helpful.

Favorite holiday home
This beautiful house is our absolute favorite holiday home. It is very spacious, and it gives us a feeling of being part of the beautiful town of Assisi. The view from the windows and in particular from the roof terrace is stunning. We will certainly be back.

Great place to stay for a medium sized group.
Well appointed and clean, great location. Set up for lodging though rather than lounging. 5 bedrooms with no living room. Very large kitchen downstairs and small one upstairs. Handles groups well.

Location, location, location
All five of us who spent between 9 and 14 days at this address deem it perfect. We were a short walk from the Basilica, the delightful bus service, which delivered us most anywhere we wanted to go, including the train station and any number of restaurants and shops. While the interior spaces of this lovely stone building were simply furnished, they met every need we had. The kitchen was so well furnished that we made all our breakfasts (the Italians eat very differently for this meal than we are accustomed) and a couple of our dinners very easily. We only saw our host the day we arrived and the night before we left. Since we are an independent lot that was fine with us. Because Assisi was the favorite of all of us, over Rome and Florence and other walled towns we visited, we would love to return and would definitely try to stay in this apartment. We highly recommend Casa Santa Margherita.

Very nice house.
This is a nice apartment, but for a senior citizen, it is hard to negotiate the many steps inside the place. Great for younger people! Arnaldo is a great host and was wonderful to deal with. It was nice the way he met us outside of town to show us exactly how to drive into Assisi. Lots of one way roads.

Great location in both the region and in the town of Assisi.
We only had two couples and used only the top and bottom floor. Very comfortable arrangement. Loved going to the rooftop patio for sunset. Would be a great house for extended family. Only one small negative, Arnoldo..... it needs wine glasses!!😊

Location, Location, Location
Location: Casa Margherita is in Assisi, a fantastic city. Location: It is very near the Basilica of St. Francis and within walking distance of most of the sights. Location: On a hill with phenomenal views.
The arrangement of the apartment is conducive to many different kinds of groups. My husband and I were traveling with our daughter's family. We used the bedroom and bath with shower on the top floor. There is even a small kitchen on the top floor too. Our daughter's family used the three bedrooms on the second floor, giving them privacy and proximity. On the first floor there is yet another bedroom (which we didn't need, so we put the clothes drying rack in there). A bathroom with tub/shower and the washing machine is on the first floor along with a large kitchen with a huge table to gather around. The apartment was well stocked with everything we needed, even coffee to get started with, olive oil, sugar, etc.
Arnaldo was such a gracious host. We communicated often before our arrival. He not only picked us up at the train station in Assisi to drive us to the apartment, he also collected us at the apartment to take us back to the train station when we left. He even patiently took our pictures with each of us poking our heads out different windows on the different levels of the apartment.
I would highly recommend Casa Margherita to almost everyone. Because of the shower and tub/shower designs, it might be difficult for a very large person to use either of them. That would be the only "con" I observed at Casa Margherita.

A fabulous place in a fabulous town
My wife and I are American writers. We sought a small Italian town where we could both finish new books, and we lit upon Assisi. We stayed five weeks, we fell in love with Assisi, and we were absolutely smitten with Casa Margherita.
There were just the two of us, so we had plenty of room. There are five bedrooms in the place. In our case, we had a bedroom (on the top floor) and we each had a separate room in which to write. Every room has a window with a view: on the first floor, if you lean out you can see the Basilica di S. Francesco and the lovely street below the house. From the upper floors, you can look out over the valley to the north, which is lovely, covered with villas, olive groves, vineyards. While we worked, we regularly heard people stopping in the street below, saying "what a beautiful house!," "casa bellisima!," and we'd look out to see someone taking a picture, and just as often someone posed on the porch for that picture.
It's a short walk into the centre, to Piazza del Commune. There are ample numbers of alimentari; a wonderful green grocer and a wonderful butcher. There are terrific restaurants all over (two, very close to Casa Margherita, are Trattoria Camino Vecchio and Locanda del Podesta: both are quite good and quite reasonable).
Other than the loveliness and livability of Assisi, and the sweetness and beauty of Casa Margherita, what made our stay so fine was the owner, Arnaldo Rossi. There was an internet modem on site when we arrived, but it was slow, too slow to be of use. This made our lives as writers very difficult. When we told Arnaldo, he came out with a technician and installed a much faster, really very excellent system, and solved the problem. When my wife's back began to bother her (there's not a lot of variety in the way of chairs--dining chairs are it--in the house), Arnaldo responded by buying a comfortable office chair and delivering it the next day. That is what you call a very attentive and very professional owner.
I recommend this property (and this town) without any reservations. It's a great town, a great house, and the owner is one of the best.

Wonderful house in beautiful Assisi
My husband and I have just returned from a lovely few days in Assisi. On arriving at the airport, we were met by our host Arnaldo, who very kindly took us to a local supermarket where we could stock up on groceries. He then took us back to the house where he diligently showed us around and made sure we were happy before leaving us to settle in peacefully.
Arnaldo had very thoughtfully stocked the cupboards with essentials such as dried pasta, tomato sauces, biscuits, sugar, salt, a bottle of coca cola and various bits and pieces, which we could use freely if required.
The house is wonderfully spacious with two kitchens and two bathrooms. The top floor, which was my favourite, is like a little flat and has fantastic windows which open widely to reveal a view of the Basilica.
We also spent some time on the private roof terrace sunbathing. From there, the views are spectacular.
Across the little street outside, is a small bar selling snacks, ice cream, hot and cold drinks etc. It has a superb garden with views across the valley where you can enjoy the beautiful sunsets.
From the house, we could easily reach the shops and other places of interest. There are some steep hills in Assisi but there is a great bus service if you find walking a challenge. We paid several visits to St Damiano, St Chiara, the Basilica and we also took the bus to St Maria and the Angels...all incredibly lovely.
If you want a break from cooking, there is an abundance of amazing places to eat, serving anything from quick snacks or ice cream, while you're on the move, to more lavish evening meals in various beautiful settings, where you can enjoy a delicious evening meal by candle light.
We can't wait to return!

Again a wonderful time, we love it. Its our second time back to this Beautiful apartment. We love Assisi and we love to stay here. The view of the basilica is so breath taking. Many times during the day I just open the window look to my left and there it is. Its also fun watching the people to see them snapping photo's seeing the Basilica of San Francesco for the first time. The rooms are comfortable and everything is very clean. We like a clean place and we like to keep it clean when we leave. I love this place I feel at home here. I love waking up to the church bells its a big part of what makes Assisi so special. If you love St. Francis you will love this apartment, the energy is strong, I miss it already. Its also fun to cook your own meals and the kitchen is fantastic. Grazie mille Pace e bene

"We spent the first week ...
"We spent the first week of our holiday at this house in Assisi and we had a wonderful time. The house is situated close to the Basilica but close to one of the old town''s gates and a large carpark.
The house is large and comfortable with a very well equipped, modern kitchen and Arnaldo One of the kindest and most obliging owners we''ve met) had provided some essential groceries for our arrival.
There are beautiful views of the Basilica and surrounding countryside from the upstairs rooms and if you are brave enough to climb the steps onto the roof terrace, it''s absolutely breathtaking!

"Assisi is absolutely beautiful and was made more so by Arnaldo and his delightful house/apartment. The location is wonderful – straight up the hill from Basilica di San Francesco – and the rooftop terrace (accessed by a steep wooden staircase from which you step up to the roof) has beautiful views of the Basilica and the surrounding countryside. Arnaldo has equipped the kitchen very well, not just with cooking utensils but also food (coffee, pasta, canned tomatoes, tuna, beans, etc). It was the best kitchen we encountered during three months of travelling through Europe!
We were very sad to have to leave after a delightful week in Assisi, and will recommend this place to our friends without any hesitation."

"We had a wonderful time ...
"We had a wonderful time the owner Arnaldo was most accommodating to say the least. He meet us at the train station took us to the beautiful apartment in the most beautiful part of Assisi. He greeted us with wine and bread. We broke bread and shared the wine. Arnaldo then took us to the roof top terrace that over looked the valley below and around the hilltop town of Assisi. Each room was comfortable. The top room had the finest view that our dear friends from Germany loved. It was very clean the kitchen was perfect, filled with extra food and coffee for us. What can I say I can't wait to return. Its perfect for 6 people to share two bathrooms. We all truly loved it and by the grace of God we will be back."
