Vilavala is perfect. Situated in a secluded area overlooking the turquoise waters of Agios Petros bay and the stretch of deep water towards Peristera island allows for visual delight and serenity.
To wake to this is wonderful, watching the yachts and fishing boats pass by.
The villa provides everything you need for a relaxing, memorable and comfortable holiday, we have already decided to return.
The concrete pontoon allows for easy access to the water that is full of intriguing and colourful fish when snorkelling.
The canoes allowed us to explore the coastline and find secluded coves.
The home is a treasure trove of antiquity, every detail has been artfully created. The outside marble table was brilliant for sharing meals or working. The bbq area added another dimension to meals. A short walk to taverna’s for fabulous food, with fresh seafood. Plus a supermarket nearby.
We walked and explored the differing areas of the island, we swam, we read books, we created art, we enjoyed every aspect of Vilavala and Alonnisos an island of magnificent natural beauty.
Yannis the host was brilliant. His generous personality and information was clear and an in-depth knowledge of Alonnisos. Thank you we all had a wonderful holiday,

This place was pure paradise! The beautiful stone home has it's own private corner overlooking the most stunning cove literally steps below you. It's so perfect if you enjoy a quiet lush piece of paradise among locals and away from crowds, exactly what we were looking for. We wished we had more time there but will defnitely be back! The owner Yannis is so lovely as well and goes out of his way to make you feel wlecome and help you in any way. This was by far the highlight of our entire trip!

Villa Vala is a beautiful and rustic villa in a dream location. The host Yannis is attentive and polite and clearly looks after his home which has been tended to over the years with love, and he cares about his guests. The location has to be seen to be believed. We like basic simple things and this type of nature cannot be improved upon. A semi private jetty a few minutes walk away gives access to the clear Aegean blue sea water in tranquil bay of Agios Petros. we were a little worried that there is no aircon, or mosquito nets and the water pressure is low in the shower in the summer but none of that mattered. There were no mosquitoes for some reason, the natural breeze was perfect and the outdoor shower was a treat. A lovely walk across the hillside to the nearby village of Steni Vala for provisions or restaurants feels like going back in time. We will definitely be back, thank you Yannis!

We had a wonderful stay at Vila Vala. The house is an amazing place which has been built in the traditional Greek style by its owner Yiannis. It’s position is perfect, above one of the nicest beaches on Alonissos. Superlatives don’t do justice to the location, if you want peace and to be surrounded by nature. We spent our time snorkelling and relaxing by the sea. Inside the house is traditional and full of the art and crafts which Yiannis has collected. It’s not a usual holiday rental, more an experience of living in the house of a Greek friend. Restaurants are a short walk to Steni Vala. Yiannis is a gracious and welcoming host, who enjoys sharing his knowledge of the island and is always on hand to make your stay special.

Island Retreat
Vilavala was a gem! After several days of hiking, we were looking to relax by the sea, and that is exactly what Vilavala gave us. The home is charming, the views and stunning, and the property is magical. Lots of shady pines overlooking a quiet cove, perfect for swimming. A short walk to the village takes you to good food and people watching. Yannis was a gracious host, transporting us to and from the home and always available for any questions. He also has many interesting stories about the island and clearly loves his home. We had a lovely time and hope to return!

Excellent location
Thank you Yannis for enabling us to stay at vila Vala. The house was perfect, the location just what we needed. Your assistance was very much appreciated, and the trip to the marine park was the icing on the cake. The short walk to Steni Vala for groceries, coffee and fresh fish dinners kept us moving... otherwise we hardly shifted from the patio’s perfect view of the sea and islands. Highly recommended.

Nice traditional house next to paradisiac waters
The house is a traditional stone house located in the most ideal place: green pine trees, crickets singing, and amazing water! Minutes away from Steni vala, 15 min drive from the old town or the port. We spent lots of time in Agios Petros, canoeing around and diving!
Thanks Giannis for this amazing place!

PERFECT ON EVERY LEVEL
I can totally recommend Vilavala on all levels for all people searching for a safe, beautiful, comfortable place to spend a holiday. Ideal for a family, individuals or a group of friends. Walking distance to bars and shops and yet tucked away within its own enclave, private jetty and just one minute walk to the sea where the fish await you.
Everything you need for a self contained holiday down to the smallest but necessary piece of kit. The villa owner Yannis provides it all, just bring your own toothpaste.
When I leave Vilavala, all I can think about is my next stay there.

Paradise found!
Our stay at Vilavara was absolutely wonderful. Yannis is the perfect host and made all aspects of our stay very special, taking every care to ensure we arrived safely and settled in well, checking on us during the week and taking us out on his boat to explore around the islands. The house itself is perfect and full of character and charm. It was perfectly equipped for all our needs and more and is in the most wonderful setting with the most wonderful views of the sea. The sea is incredibly clear and full of beautiful fish and wildlife and we spent many a happy hour swimming and snorkelling from the little jetty just a couple of minutes stroll from the house. The beach is equally gorgeous. The house is situated just 10 minutes walk from the village of Steni Valla where we shopped for food and ate out most nights in the fabulous tavernas on the seafront. The food is incredible! Everyone is very welcoming and friendly and we loved every minute of our holiday. We plan to return, hopefully many times.

Beautiful villa in idyllic surroundings
Another wonderful 2 week stay at Vila Vala! Like many others we return year after year, and this speaks for itself! Looking back at all previous reviews it does not surprise me to see that, almost without exception, it is rated with 5 stars! It would seem we are definitely not the only ones to be captivated by the beauty and peacefulness of the villa and it’s surroundings. Vila Vala overlooks the very pretty bay of Agios Petros and it is hard to imagine a more perfect location.
Yannis, the owner, is very welcoming and is keen to ensure everything is perfect for his guests.
I can not recommend Vila Vala highly enough and

Vila Vala is amazing! And Yannis' hospitality is over-the-top! Thank you!
The ultimate traditional Greek experience! We were greeted immediately at the ferry by our host Yannis who drove us to his family home. He is a wealth of local knowledge about Greece, Alonnissos and the Marine Park. Vila Vala sits on its own private peninsula and overlooks the clear blue water of the Aegean. You are steps away from swimming, snorkeling and kayaking (kayak onsite!) And a short 10 minute walk to Steni Vala town. Vila Vala is a museum of Yannis' family history and very well appointed with everything you would need for a peaceful relaxing holiday. My wife and I cooked dinner and sat out on the patio watching the fishing boats come into Steni Vala.
As an extraordinary example of Greek hospitality, Yannis personally took us on a boat tour of the nearby islands telling us the history of this beautiful place where he and his family grew up. We even stopped at a quiet remote beach for a swim in the refreshing waters of the Aegean.
We will not soon forget our amazing holiday in Alonnissos with Yannis at Vila Vala. We are already looking forward to our next visit.

Authentic and charming house with stunning views
We had a wonderful stay at this authentic Alonnisos house full of history, antiques and charm. The location is amazing, peaceful with stunning views and complete privacy. The kayaks were a big hit with the kids and we loved paddling over to Steni Vala (15 mins away) for lunch and shopping. Our host, Yannis, was very attentive and went above and beyond to ensure we had a pleasant stay. There was a ferry strike on the day we left and Yannis went to great lengths pulling strings to make sure we made our flight - he couldn't have been more helpful! We hope to be back soon.

Very nice stay in Alonissos in a very beautiful house thanks to Yannis
Vila vala is perfectly located, in a very preserved and quiet environnement, surrounded by pine trees with an amazing see view and direct access to the beach while still being 10 mn walking distance to the small port of Steni Vala. The house is perfect for holidays : very nice, easy to use, direct access to the sea, large terrace, natural shade and it is also a very charming and authentic house with a lot of antiques and personal touch. Yannis is an amazing host, he lives up very high the tradition of Greek hospitality and he helped us so much during our entire stay. We will definilty come back to Vila Vala. Again a big thank you to Yannis.

Paradise stay in Alonnisos
A week to remember forever.. spectacular location, nearly private bay.. the views.. the sounds.. the smells.. Greece at its best. A unique home, fully equipped, that takes you back in time with everything that is in it.. the paintings, the rugs, the handcrafted wooden details, the old office, the books.. An intelligent, helpful and discrete owner. I can't tell if it was because of the natural landscape or the vibes of the house.. but our energy levels were the highest. We all left with the best memories and the promise to return one day.

bliss
We have stayed in Vila Vala many times, I could not contemplate staying anywhere else. it's like coming home and we are always excited to arrive knowing we will have a wonderful holiday and be welcomed by Yannis in the same way as we were the first time, with affection, attentiveness and in the knowledge that we will want for nothing...except perhaps that our return fight be cancelled so we can stay another week!!! We count the days till our next stay when we will once again smell the pines, see the near and distant beautiful views, swim in the clear turquoise sea where the fishes are so numerous, it's like swimming in an aquarium and have the company of Yannis who makes our stay perfect.

Perfect villa in an idyllic location!
We have recently returned from a two week stay at Vilavala. We are returning guests, as I believe many guests are, and this is testimony to the beautiful location, well equipped, comfortable villa and the exceptional hospitality of the owner Yannis. The villa is built overlooking the pretty, secluded bay of Agios Petros, with almost uninterrupted views out to sea, across to the National Marine Park. It is possible to watch dolphins and, if you are lucky, the monk seal, from the comfort of your chair. There are a number of terraces, each with either sun or shade throughout the day, some on which you can enjoy a martini or g & t in the very pleasant evening sun.
The spacious house was spotlessly clean on arrival and is very well equipped. But the real jewel in this particular crown is the owner Yannis. Even before we arrived he was able to provide very helpful advice regarding the ferry timetable. He met us at the port and drove us to the villa, and throughout our stay he was available, unobtrusively, should we have needed anything. Yannis is a perfect host.
I can not recommend this property highly enough, in my opinion it is perfect and anyone lucky enough to find it will be captivated by the beauty and peacefulness of its surroundings, and like us, will be drawn back many times. We have already booked next year!

A Slice of Paradise
We had a wonderful stay in Vila Vala for two weeks this August, with our two boys age 10 and 8. It was a perfect holiday for all of us. The house has idyllic views of the bay and is nestled in pine trees. It is clean, well equipped, private and has very good wi-fi. There is a large terrace, where we had our meals overlooking the bay, under the shade of the trees. Steni Vala has good restaurants, a cafe, bar and two shops and is a 7 minute walk away along the coast. Its a great place to go for a meal or for just hanging out. The bay below the house is very good for swimming, snorkelling, kayaking and paddle-boarding. The house has a small jetty where there is a kayak, so perfect for the boys. Yannis is a wonderful host and couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly. His love of the house and island is reflected in the happy feel of the place. We take home such happy memories of our holiday and can’t wait to come back!

What is the definition of a 'HOLIDAY'. Vilavala should go into the Oxford Dictionary under 'HOLIDAY' (Epitome Vilavala).
A time, place and period of total change and rejuvenation, rest, pleasure, comfort, reflection, relaxation, peace, enjoyment, diversion and adventure, after which one is restored, full of lovely thoughts, encounters and experiences, fulfilled and ready to return home.

Another wonderful holiday in "our" home in Alonnisos is over. We enjoyed this traditional, yet fully equipped house with stunning views on the turquoise sea where we could walk anytime we wanted to have delightful swims. We gathered again around the welcoming big table in the shady yard, relaxed outdoors reading our books, daydreamed lost in the breathtaking blues and greens of the sea and trees. Fantastic!

See the deep blue sea through the scented pine,
From the island stone to the turquoise bay.
Through the shade in the peace to drink my wine,
This is the only place I would wish to stay.
The clear clean water will welcome me,
A thousand fishes to bathe among.
Across the water distant views I see,
The cooling breezes like a mermaids song.
The early morning sun spreads her silver and gold,
Then the rising moon reflects in pink across the strait.
And another perfect day in Vilavala will unfold,
But for my next longed for stay I will just have to wait.

One week after... and we are still thinking of Vila Vala! What a gem... the place, the accomodation, the hospitality, everything!
Turqoise water, colourful fishes, white sand sea at Ag. Petros bay and at the top... Vila Vala! A well-preserved stone-built house in an absolute green environment!
Mr Yannis, our perfect host, a perfect tourist guide that knows everything about everything: the island of Alonissos, the Sporades' marine park, the history of both Alonissos and the surrounding islands, the restaurants, the beaches etc.etc.etc.
Apart from that, he took us on an amazing day boat trip to the magnificent island of Peristera and the neighboring islands, where we spent a splendid day.
We truly enjoyed our stay at Vila Vala and we will surely come back to have another unique experience at this amazing house and island and of course we recommend it to every kind of traveller, from young couples to families with small children and also for those with teenagers and even elder people that are more difficult to move everyday to a diiferent beach!
Thanks Mr Yannis for everything!

This family property is an absolute gem! Yannis is extremely friendly and organized and feels very responsible for his guests and his house that he keeps in perfect shape at all times. He built the house with family members and therefore knows it inside-out. Yannis is the perfect host, tourist guide, history teacher, boy scout etc. and knows everything about everything that you possibly would want to know.
Apart from that, he took us on a truly amazing day boat trip to the magnificent bay of Agios Petros, where we spent a lovely day. We truly enjoyed our stay at Vila Vala to the fullest and we are convinced that we will come back to have another unique experience at this amazing house and island with all its beauty, scents, views and culinary delights (among others: fresh fish bought directly from the fisherman's boat ready to grill)! See it, live it, love it!

Dear Yannis,
thank you so much for the wonderful time that we have had in Vilavala. I have been to Alonnisos several times before and always enjoyed it a lot, but now the first time in Vilavala was definitely the best time I've ever had on the island. The house is so beautiful, situated in a very lovely part of Alonnisos and you can feel that everything in the house is made with love and a lot of respect for nature and tradition. Your hospitality is amazing and we enjoyed the trip with you on your boat a lot. Also we loved to buy fresh fish from a fisherman in Steni Vala and to put it on the grill fired by pine- and olive-wood. Delicous! And our two little children were so happy when we went for dinner in Steni Vala by kajak - that was really a great experience.
I can warmly recommend Vilavala for people, who like to spend their holidays in a peaceful and authentic place.
We definitely want to come again to Vilavala!
2.5 / 5.0
The house if very nicely kept and it really does look better than in the pictures - the colors are more vivid in reality. Plus, it's a pity one can't "catch" the sound of the waves and the smell of pine trees in photographs.
The rooms are spacious, the beds are comfortable and the kitchen has all necessities; we had enough space in the fridge to keep beer, wine and food for 6 persons (we were 3 couples).
The marble table on the terrace is both romantic and practical. It was also a real joy to have coffee in the morning slumped in the sunbeds on the terrace, admiring the sea through the green vegetation!
The near-by beach (Agios Petros) is half-sandy - a great plus - and can be seen from one of the rooms at Vila Vala. It was great to have such a perfect place to swim, at a "stone's throw". We also had a lot of fun at the Jetty, taking the kayak for trips.
The owner, Yannis, who personally greeted us at the ferry and made sure we settled in comfortably, is just the perfect host! He gave us all the information we needed about the island (as well as info on the ferry schedule and fees, beforehand). He checked on us from time to time to see if we were enjoying ourselves and whether we needed anything.
All in all, Vila Vala is a great place to stay - wonderful for both relaxation and fun!
Just a funny side-note: we found about the beautiful island of Alonnisos from my boyfriend's hairstylist, who had been to Skiathos and Skopellos before, but who was looking forward to spend his next holiday with his family in this third Sporades island, knowing it is the best. I do confirm that Alonissos is wonderful and I recommend a summer holiday spent there, at Vila Vala!

Vila Vala is truly amazing and at a good price. It looks much better than the pictures. Very nicely furnished, well equipped and the surroundings are spectacular! Good for young people who want to have fun, good for families with children. The house is right above a tiny bay with a crystal clear water. We spent a lot of time there. Also, the porch is very nice for spending the evening. The owner, Yannis, was really kind to us and always at our disposal. Totally recommend Vila Vala.

We were so happy to return for the fifth (or sixth?) time to Vilavala, our home in Alonnisos. Every time we return we find the house even more welcoming, even more familiar. Everything was there, as we left it one or two years ago. And we continued the thread where we left it. We enjoyed that secluded paradise with the turquoise sea just in front of the house and loved having outdoor showers. This time the figtrees had ripe figs, which we thoroughly enjoyed. We baked bread in the outdoor oven and loved to have all the family united around the big table of the yard. Yannis was the perfect host as always! Thank you so much for another memorable stay!
2.0 / 5.0
More than met expectations. Built by the charming owner Yannis with great attention to traditional Greek methods. Lots of lovely wood, stone and antiques. The terraces are abundant, lots of shade with the clear waters of the bay just below. Easy wander to shops and restaurants of Steni Vala. We hired a boat for exploring. The house is well kitted out but needs a proper second 'teenage' bed. Very clean but would be more enjoyable and relaxing with some housekeeping during the week. This house is not for those seeking all mod cons. It is for visitors who like a more traditional, island feel. We loved it and are planning our return!

I am running out of superlatives for Vilavala, I will have to buy a new thesaurus. We had a wonderful 3 week holiday there and If I am not careful I will find I have to increase my stay each time as it is a happy, beautiful place. Everything you could want from a Greek Island beauty spot and of course Yannis Vlaikos, the owner is a gentleman and a scholar, you will want for nothing. I can fully recommend this villa with all it's amenities.
