This house is the perfect holiday rental. Beautiful pool and house, kitchen excellent fittings and a five minute walk to village shop and restaurant. Joe is a brilliant host, arranging car rental and taxi to airport. Loved everything and hope to return in the future.

As we walked into Tal Bjar, we felt like we had stepped back in time into a world of days gone by - but with great modern amenities & ensuites! Looking out across the pool over farmer's fields to the sea at Dwejra Bay, we could imagine ourselves in a time past. Look up to the juliet balconies and palm trees swaying in the ocean air - at night the star filled sky transported us.
Joe and his family were great hosts - always attentive to our needs, from beginning to end!
A short walk to a great local grocer, an excellent restaurant and a casual local bar with pizza and burgers all within the courtyard of the San Lawrenz church square.
Wander further, and there is always something to see.
A convenient 10 minute drive to Victoria, 20 min drive to the ferry to Malta.
Local Car hire, Gozo Garage was most helpful. Transfers to and from the airport were seamless.
We would highly recommend this vacation rental- we loved our time at Tal Bjar.

We had 6 adults sharing the property and had a wonderful time.
Joe was absolutely delightful and made everything so easy for us. He helped organise our transfer from the airport and had left us some treats in the fridge so we didn’t have to go straight to the shop when we arrived.
The villa is perfect. 10/10!
The area is slightly quieter than we expected, and we were informed by Joe that it’s very much not a location for parties etc and to keep the noise down at night, which was fair. There’s one very nice restaurant in the town, and another place which was good. The nearest supermarket with options is about a 10-15 minute walk away and other than that there is very little around.
We found that we spent most of our time in the villa or going to other locations, we didn’t spend time in St Lawrence because it’s so quiet, but transport was easy, and there are some lovely restaurants in Xlendi which was 15 mins drive away.
Would absolutely recommend the villa.

We spent a very enjoyable week at this villa. Joe is an excellent, welcoming and supportive host. The villa is spacious and well equipped. The pool is just lovely, with plenty of seating and sunset views. A short walk to the centre of San Lawrenz and within easy striking distance from the inland sea, beaches and Victoria.

Beautiful house and beautiful setting with wonderful views.
The house is a typical Gozitan village house wonderfully renovated and a joy to stay in. Peaceful location yet within easy reach of a lovely village and the capital Victoria. Joe and his wife were really helpful throughout our stay. When we arrived they showed us the house and told us where to go locally for amenities and good restaurants. The house is well equipped.
The teenagers loved the pool and the poolside area with shady palms and beautiful flowers.
Gozo is amazing. We managed to see most of the island in a week and were lucky enough to have arrived in a feast day week (15th August). We joined some amazing celebrations in Victoria.
We will certainly want to return again :)

We had a marvellous holiday. The house is beautiful and well equipped. An excellent base for exploring Gozo and Malta, with two good restaurants in walking distance. Joe was very helpful both before we arrived and during our stay, an excellent host

Very comfortable and well-equipped villa with everything you might need, including a travel cot and high chair. We enjoyed the fabulous swimming pool and watched some stunning sunsets over the sea from the patio. The villa is located about a 10 minute drive west of Victoria and within walking distance of beautiful Dwejra on the coast. Joe was very helpful and prompt with responses and able to arrange airport transfers and car hire. Highly recommend staying here and plan to return next time we visit Gozo.

The most perfect setting to take in the Gozo sunsets. A quiet, immaculate and spacious property, kitchen was very well equipped for self-catering, a great restaurant and friendly and well-stocked village shop in the square just down the road. A gem of a place, we wish we could have stayed for longer, but maybe next time...

The Villa is stunning. The pool and the view is breathtaking. Joe and is wife couldn’t have been more welcoming and helpful. Would love to come back.

Beautiful property in tranquil hamlet
A beautifully renovated property with bedrooms opening onto an open courtyard full of flowers and great kitchen/ living room leading out to a lovely pool and garden with amazing views across open fields to the sea. We stayed in early April so too chilly and windy to swim but enjoyed the sunny terrace and glorious sunsets and were able to do some great walks/ sightseeing instead (Ramala Bay cave, Weid Il-Ghasri to Roman saltpans, Citadel at Victoria, etc). Good restaurants within easy walking distance were a bonus. Joe was very responsive to any questions pre booking and during our stay.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We have been coming to Gozo for 10 years and have always rented different houses. But this one was the most beautiful of all so far. Jo and his wife have arranged the house and the garden very carefully and lovingly. We look forward to coming back soon.

Fantastic property - huge attention to detail with every mod con
We spent a wonderful week at Joe ‘s beautiful farmhouse. It has charm and style plus a beautiful pool with view to the sea and an extremely well equipped kitchen. 15 minute downhill walk to the inland sea and a couple of minutes walk to the local square with cafe and restaurant. Joe was very attentive and we would definitely recommend this property.
Hoping to go back next year!

Lovely in every way
This is a simply wonderful property, from the moment you step into the passage leading to the door and then beyond into the beautiful courtyard with flower filled pots. The property has huge amounts of character and been beautifully developed - with character features throughout in true Gozo style but paired back for simplicity. Really appreciated the herbs for cooking and the cooking facilities were excellent. Absolutely everything has been carefully thought through for this property from the sun beds to the lovely antique cooking dishes used for decoration - with quality being the defining feature. The location was perfect if not breathtaking - the views of the sea are amazing, although it was difficult to leave the pool! Having facilities - shops, restaurants, within easy walking distance was a boon, and everything else was within a very short drive. Joe was the perfect host as well - arranging transfers and always being on the end of the email if we needed him. Highly recommend!

Great home and location on Gozo
We had an incredible stay at Joe and Mary's farmhouse. The place was clean and homey with fantastic views of the Med Sea and Gozo countryside. Joe and Mary were the perfect hosts. They met us at the home, helped arrange a trip to Comino, and met us as we left. We would recommend this farmhouse as one of the best places to stay at and we hope we get the chance to stay there again.

Is this the perfect villa?
We think we’ve found the perfect place to stay on Gozo. The photos look good - just wait until you see it in real life. Every detail from the tranquil outdoor space and clear refreshing pool, and the airy well-equipped kitchen, with its French doors that help make eating outside a hassle-free experience, to the comfortable bedrooms with their en-suite bathrooms that you can retreat to refresh after a day in the sun, this villa is little short of perfect. The owners have paid attention to every detail and were keen to make sure we had everything we needed. St Lawrenz is a small village with a well-stocked local shop and a good restaurant a five-minute walk from the villa, but nothing is too far away in Gozo and there are many villages and towns just a short drive away. The citadel in Victoria is stunning, offering panoramic views of Gozo and the surrounding sea from the behind the city wall. Xaghra and it’s town square, full of cafe and restaurants, is well worth a visit too.

Relaxing and inviting..our villa was exactly what we expected and more.
We had a wonderful stay at this villa. It was just the tonic we as a family needed. The villa was beautiful, clean and had a lovely rustic charm to it. Within it there was everything we needed too. The location was ideal, and the sunsets in the evening breathtaking. The children had lots of fun in the pool and spent many hours playing in it. Joe was more than accommodating and helped sort trips and anything else we needed. I would definitely stay again and would recommend to anyone!!

Excellent!
Great villa. Fantastic location. Brilliant swimming pool and surrounding area for relaxing. Everything you would need present. Very comfortable and spacious. Great owners who set us up when we arrived.
Gozo is a small island so nowhere is too far to travel but this villa was in a great location. Could witness amazing sunsets over the Mediterranean each evening.
Thoroughly recommend this villa.

Our stay in September 2019
This was a perfect villa for us - me, my husband, my 2 sons and their wives and a 14month old granddaughter. The sunsets were fabulous, the pool with jacuzzi beautiful and the beds comfortable - everything you could need - a home from home. Joe was welcoming and easily contactable for any questions. It was nice to be in St Lawrence with a small shop, bar and restaurant close by. I would recommend this villa. It’s our 8th time in Gozo and the 1st time here.

Super villa in a great area of Gozo
Stayed at Tal-Bjar villa / farmhouse with a family of 5 in late October for a week. It's beautifully secluded, full of character and well equipped. This was our 2nd visit as the kids loved the pool so much last year. The house is just down the road from the Blue Hole which has amazing views and great snorkelling. Joe is super organised and arranged for a taxi from the airport plus a hired car to be delivered to the house. 5 stars for the house and 5 stars for the Joe! :-)

Wonderful villa and lovely helpful owners
We very much enjoyed our stay at Tal Bjar. The house was full of character, well equipped and well looked after. We will have fond memories of watching the sunset over the sea from the pool area and from the roof terrace. The owners were very welcoming and very helpful. They met us at the villa even though it was after midnight due to our flight time and they arranged airport transfers and car hire delivered to the house with minimum fuss. Highly recommended.

Wonderful villa in quiet location
Wonderful spacious and charming villa in a quiet location. Lovely pool and outside area with views down to the sea. San Lawrenz is a pretty village, a few minutes drive from the sea. Would definitely come back and stay here again.

A very nice property
Alll 6 of us had a nice time and the property was well equipped. Kitchen could have done with more cupboard space, however, we managed quite well since the weather was wonderful. Mr and Mrs Schembri were there to greet us on arrival and on departure. The pool was brilliant and the facilities great.

Delightful villa ideally situated in quiet town
Fantastic villa which is secluded, private and peaceful despite being in the middle of a small town. Local shops and restaurant in walking distance. San Lorenz is ideally placed for easy access to the rest of the island and unspoilt.
The villa is lovely with spacious, nicely furnished rooms. The pool area is private and charming with plenty of shade, great seating areas and lovely views of the sea. Highly recommended.

We enjoyed our comfortable and relaxing stay.
Very nice house, fully equipped and with an amazing view to the sea.
Joe and his wife are very firendly and will help, if there are small problems (we ran out of gas, 1 hour later the neighbor was there and solved the problem).

Lovely property and position
This was our second stay in this lovely farmhouse in San Lawrenz. The house is clean and well-equipped and epitomizes the 'indoor / outdoor' feel of traditional Maltese houses. Everything has been done with taste - from the exposed stonework interiors to the evening lighting around the pool area - not to mention the gorgeous backdrop of the stunning sunsets over the Dwejra cliffs. We also love the pool which is a good size and deep enough to remain cool even on the hottest of days. We hope to return!

BEAUTIFUL VILLA AMAZING SEA VIEW
This was our families third time staying in this beautiful, well kept villa. The villa is located in a quiet small town in Gozo with a perfect presentation allowing for sea view and stunning sunsets. The owners of the house are lovely and always go out of their way to make our stay memorable!

Beautiful villa with a great host
We had a great stay at joe’s farmhouse. The house itself is beautiful, the pool area is great, all the bedrooms are lovely and spacious and the kitchen was very well equipped. However the best bit has to be the sunset views from the terrace! A few good restaurants within walking distance and Victoria was a 10 minute car ride. Joe was very helpful organising car hire and transfers for us which all worked seamlessly.

Practically Perfect
I took my family, aged 5 years to 70 on this wonderful holiday at Tal-Bjar
We had a great time at the farmhouse, and in Gozo.
Everything was 'practically perfect' (as Mary Poppins would say) and we couldn't have wanted for anything in the house. Obviously such a lot of thought has gone into making visitors feel it is a home from home.
The sun drenched pool deck relaxed us all as soon as we arrived.
Joe and his wife were wonderful hosts and we look forward to another visit in the not too distant future. HIghly Reccomended.

A delightful experience from start to finish
We have just returned from a wonderful relaxing week in Gozo. From the initial booking I received helpful information from Joe who directed me to car hire and airport transfer options. Upon arrival the house was extremely clean. The facilities were great (each bedroom being en-suite). The pool and outdoor area are spacious with plenty of chairs and loungers. I have no trouble in recommending this property to anyone thinking of having a holiday in Gozo.

Amazing place to stay
We stayed at Tal-Bjar in October, the farmhouse was lovely and the kids loved the pool. Joe and his wife were great hosts, even met us after a late 4am flight!
Gharb is a lovely quite area, restaurants and supermarket very close.
Would love to go again.

Tal Bjar on Gozo, a revelation!
The farmhouse Tal Bjar was even nicer, greater en nevertheless more intimate than the photos could show. And outside the swimming pool plus view on the see was really splendid. The description told us about possible nice sunsets: we were so lucky to see twice a perfect Green Flash Sunset (see Wikipedia)! What we -eldest 78 and youngest 4 years old- have done? Swimming in the private pool of Tal Bjar, walking on the rocky and steep footpath along the seeside with amazing views on the sea, making a tour with a speedboat (with wakeboard on board!) to Comino and around the Island of Gozo, diving -one of us even to 40 m deep with Jacob the owner of the diving school near the Inside Sea -, swimming in the nice bays, visiting the salt pans, admiring the many impressive churches, reading about the multicultural history of the Gozo inhabitants and naturally eating and drinking the Gozo food, whine and beer. We loved very much the restaurant Ta’ Cenc II Kantra on a rock near Mgarr ic-Xini with excellent food and a gorgeous view on the see and on Comino. And last but not least: we loved the warm welcome and goodbye of the sympathetic owners of Tal Bjar, Joe and Mary, who gave us all the Information we needed! We will come back!

Lovely villa, well equipped and lots of space for the 5 of us, each of grown up kids having their own bedrooms and bathrooms was a real bonus. Joe and Mary fantastic about our late arrival, arranging airport transfers and car hire for the following morning, all of which was really efficient and reasonably priced. Plenty to do on Gozo in short trips, leaving the hot afternoons for repeated swims in the pool. A really relaxing break - thank you

We, 2 couples from Austria in the age of 52 till 55, spend our holiday in this wonderful house for 12 days. We were there the second times namely from the end of July till early of August 2017.
This house is fully equipped and you will find all necessary things you need. We found this house last year on the net and the description is equal of reality. Honestly, it’s just fantastic.
You have a gorgeous sea view from the lovely garden (pool area) and from the rooms in the first floor. The pool is fantastic . Joe rechecked the pool water quality when we arrived. It was perfect. We enjoyed the pool so much.
The rooms are so charming furnished. Perfect cleaned up and we felt so relaxed in there and we didn’t miss anything. We felt like to be on cloud.
Joe and Mary are the best hosts we’ve ever had. Friendly, very obliging and always helpful.
I am sure it was not our last holiday there. I am sure we come next year again.
A big thank you to Joe and Mary for their lovely hospitality.
Greetings from Vienna
Maria
About San Lawrenz
San Lawrenz is a lovely, beautiful small village in the west of Gozo. We love this place so much. Approximately 5 minutes away from the house you are in the centre of San Lawrenz and you will find a small food store to buy fresh fruits, always local crusty fresh bread, local pastries, vegetables (local tomatoes are fantastic) and a lot of other things for the daily life. An excellent restaurant is situated opposite the store. They serve very tasty local and mediterranean food and you can enjoy the lovely place in the middle of San Lawrenz with the magnificent church. You should go in there.
Every village has a Festa during summer to commemorate its patron saint. The patron of San Lawrenz is San Lorenzo. It was gorgeous to participate. We’ve never seen before an impressive event like that. It is a village and family get-together, an annual celebration. Visitors are always made welcome. The locals are eager to share their love for and loyalty to their village.

From the moment we arrived in Gozo we were well looked after by Joe and his wife and made to feel welcome in their beautiful house. The outside courtyard and pool areas were adorned with flowers and the interior of the house was so tastefully furnished. The whole house was clean and comfortable and the kitchen well appointed. We spent most of our time enjoying the pool area, looking out to sea with the spectacular sunsets. Although the house is handily situated a couple of minutes walk from the lovely village of San Lawrenz, with a good shop for day to day provisions, we were pleasantly surprised at how quiet it was.
From the villa, we walked ( 20-25 mins downhill) to the Inland Sea area which was fascinating and had an enjoyable lunch in the Azure Restaurant before taking the bus back. Although a car is necessary if you want to explore the island and do bulkier shopping, we were easily able to book taxis for two nights out so didn't need to drive the whole time. The remaining nights we took advantage of the BBQ and enjoyed our dinner watching the sun go down with a glass of Maltese wine. Our entire party, young and older loved it and would definitely recommend it to friends and family.
