While we were relatively comfortable in the apartment, I was disappointed in a number of things. First, to get to the apartment, there is a long, narrow flight of stairs, and another flight of stairs from the ill-named "sun room" to the top floor. Once inside, the starkness surprised me. The furnishings were not what I've come to expect in a VRBO property ... mismatched, and barely comfortable. There were no "welcome" instructions to help with working the TV and the fridge handle was dirty. On the pro side, the enormous picture window, overlooking the bay was uplifting (once we trained our eyes to look past the warehouse district stretched out below us.) The bathroom was very nice with a good, strong shower, and the bed was comfy enough. Nothing luxurious, though. We were especially disappointed that the balcony wasn't suitable for relaxing on some nice chairs with a glass of wine. All that said, if you aren't looking for luxury, or aesthetic charm, this apartment is fine ... spacious with good temperature control.

Lovely and conveniently located place. Only slight complaint is that it really isn't in any way a two bedroom despite what the listing said. Otherwise great.

Amazing opportunities for watching the boats passing across the bay. Must listen to Otis Redding. Full kitchen with all the items needed for a perfect meal. Water pressure was great in the shower. Sauna worked great, needs about 20 minutes to warm up. Not ADA accessible. Owners are great and quiet, not imposing. You might hear pitter patter on the stairs outside the flat, it’s not ghosts, just the kiddos.

Visited for a week of working remote and going on hikes nearby. Location is great, view from window is nice, plenty of restaurant and brewery options nearby and hiking spots within a short drive. The unit was oversold as listed. Not really comfortable for more than a couple sleeping in the same bed (no real 2nd bed, blow up mattress, which you have to read about in an image caption on listing to know). Photos don’t represent the unit, deck was completely different with no fancy lay out chairs or wood floor. Living room was quite different from photos as well. Some photos appear to be for a different unit. Overall, the unit was clean but could really use some care by the owner, things seem to be in disrepair (lots of little things that add up). Also, wifi is coming from sun room, and really only works if you are sitting in kitchen bar stool area. Host did say he is looking to improve this, but it did make it tricky for my friend and I, who were both on zoom calls all day. My friend ended up working from the sun room outside the unit, which was not an optimal solution. While this unit could fit 4 people, that’s only with an extra blowup mattress they will set up for you, not 2 real beds (luckily the blow up mattress was fairly comfortable for a blow up mattress). In reality, it’s a small 1br so if you are staying with a group, the folks sleeping in living room won’t have privacy. Unit has nice view, beautiful tree out front as well but it’s close to major roads and you’ll likely need to keep windows open for ventilation at night. I brought earplugs and had no trouble sleeping, but good to call this out if traffic noise bothers you. Overall, this place served its purpose, the host was helpful, but I felt like I was oversold based on the listing, and won’t be returning.

Very quiet neighborhood, very clean and cute! Parking was awesome asking for early entry and getting it was great. Very relaxing. It does get a little warm with no air comditiong and maybe some hand towels in kitchen would help. Other than that great experience

We stayed here for a graduation. The property is located in a great area with beautiful views. The property could be cleaned up a little. Not sure if they were in the process of doing repairs or if that’s normally how they keep it. The house is older but that’s part of its charm. All in all, it was a decent experience.

Property is as listed... Could use some minor upgrades as far as adding hangars to closet and some minor cosmetic items. Wonderful view. Comfortable bed. Lots of kitchen items to use. Neighborhood down the hill is a little industrial but nothing to be overly concerned about. Well situated to dining options.

The location was great but the pics of the property weren't exactly what we expected. The decks and sauna weren't very usable.

I think that the place was a bit oversold; the view is great, but the traffic noise is inescapable. The furnishings are comfortable, although the rug is badly in need of a shampooing. It was very frustrating to have to be on the phone with Expedia for an hour to get the instructions for entry that were to have been emailed. I'm grateful we had a spacious, comfortable spot to stay, but others may have higher expectations.

David was very communicative from reservation to the day of arrival. Great location. Steep entry stairs for anyone who might have a problem with that. No air-conditioning so beware if you get hot easily. Great shower.

This was just the right kind of place for my husband, daughter and I as we spent some time in Mill Valley. The house itself has a lot of vintage charm, but all of the modern amenities to make a stay comfortable.

The property is very nicely updated and maintained. The only downside for us was no AC because we’re used to keeping it pretty cool. We would definitely like to stay here again if we have a stay in San Francisco in our future.

The old Victorian home had been lovingly painted and restored but the entry and garden needed to be tidied up as it was all in a state of disorder. The interior of our room was clean and neat but the stained carpet gave it a bit of a shabby look. The space could have benifited by a decorator.

We stayed here during our recent trip to San Francisco. The location was perfect, not far from the city and from some of the state parks that we visited. The view of the bay was great. David's place was beautiful. We really enjoyed our stay.

Lacked basic kitchen amenities, such as pots and pans. No cleaning supplies (eg. broom). Sauna is not as advertised (tucked into foyer area with lots of garbage and old couch in front of it). Overall stay was good. Very clean and comfortable bed.

We just spent 14 days in this apartment and it was great. The view is spectacular and the location is perfect. Easy access to almost any place you want to go. The apartment is clean and provides everything that you need. David was there if needed but respected our privacy. We would definitely stay again if we are ever in the area.

This is a very nice apartment. It has a huge window in the living room looking out into the bay. You do have businesses and a highway between you and the water, but your view is really nice. Night is even better with all the lights of the city and bridges. There is a highway a few blocks away, but you don’t really hear it. There is really only one bed in the apartment. I guess the couches could be used for sleeping maybe, if you had pillows and blankets. The one bed is nice and provided a good nights sleep. There is a window in the bedroom with a nice view as well. There is a door out of the bedroom that leads to a balcony, but since it was rainy a lot I didn’t go out there. There are closets, but some of them are kind of unique because this is an attic apartment. This apartment really did have a complete makeover. The kitchen is nice, but it could use some more stuff like knives, spatulas, etc. to make it more usable. There is a nice breakfast bar and plenty of counter space. It’s all laid out nicely, and well lit. The whole apartment has great lighting, but there are a lot of switches that might need to be labeled. I was recovering from a surgery, so I was in a lot. As such, the TV is really nice and large. It’s a smart tv, so you have access to a bunch of content. I think the whole house might be on the same WiFi as sometimes content was buffering, but that might have been an ISP issues. This is an upstairs apartment. If you have mobility issues, you might want to rethink your stay. There are handrails on the stairs. The washer and dryer are in the basement. Parking is easy, checking in and out is easy. Having a book or more guidance on the listing might be handy. There is recycling in this area, but you only have a small trash. So separate your stuff, keep extra grocery bags to do so. I guess that’s it. It’s a really nice place to stay, the owner David is real nice and helpful. They’ve been doing VRBO for about a year, so I think it takes a bit to fine tune things. Overall I was happy with the apartment and the location. You have easy access to groceries and restaurants in San Rafael. Lots of stuff to do nearby. It’s beautiful when the weather is nice. I’d stay here again for sure. Oh, there is a sauna, it’s a small unit, but I never used it, but it’s in the sun room in the second floor.

We stayed at this home for one night while we were in town for a friend's wedding last week. The penthouse apartment is great! The owner was super-accommodating and we can't recommend this place highly enough. Thanks again.
