We had the best experience at Colfax Cottage. The property is lovely and well stocked with all the utensils we needed for the week. The beach is a short walk from the cottage. The neighborhood is quiet and safe.

We were satisfied overall but have a few complaints. The TVs were inoperable because there were no batteries in the remote so at 8:45pm we drove out to the gas station (come to find out it closes at 9pm). We tried calling the phone number and no one answered. The deck furniture is missing despite what it shows in the picture on the listing. 2 out of 3 rows in the grill did not light (probably clogged). The deck faces the front of another house, which doesn't feel private. The upstairs mattresses are very firm, my friends found them to be uncomfortable. The only view is of houses closely situated all around you. The place was quite clean though.

Would recommend! Perfect budget friendly cottage for a stay next to the beach. We loved the beach wagon provided. However no beach chairs or beach towels, so bring your own. Quick drive into new Buffalo to check out Michigan.

First off- we LOVE the Colfax Cottage. We've been staying every year for the last few years. I have ZERO complaints but do have feedback. The place needs a bit of an update. The rugs in the bathroom need a good washing, the blankets have stains, the guest blanket has a huge rip in it. The light bulbs dont all work. I honestly love it so much though that i couldn't bring myself to complain about it while we were there. It just needs a little more love. When we go for two weeks we try to keep it very clean but there isn't a vacuum. Yes there is in the closet but to be honest, it is worthless. It doesn't even pick up sand. I asked the cleaner mid week and she agreed.

Great location ! Only got 2 towels per bathroom. Had to take the trash at the end of the stay. Kitchen refrigerator wasn’t working properly so your food got wet.
The master shower had mold on the tile.
You are paying for location so that part was amazing. Needed cleaned up and a few things taken care of . Over all not a bad experience just not what I expected for $3k a week

A Fabulous Place to Stay
I totally loved the experience. The house was perfect. My husband and I slept on the mainfloor and my daughter and her family slept upstairs. We were close to the beach and our deck was very private. I plan on renting that same cottage every summer indefinitely. It was wonderful!

Our stay was great. Close to the beach the home had all the things we were looking for. The only issues we had was a running toilet in the master bathroom . Also the beach umbrella did not work that was in the closet under the stairs.

Three couples met here for a mini reunion to "catch up" and reminisce about our college days. We stayed two nights in this darling cottage which was just the right size. It was very clean and decorated with a beachy theme. (There was a maintenance problem, which Beachwalk offered to take care of immediately. But it was fine with us to wait until after we checked out. It did not interfere with our stay in the least.) We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Beachwalk was very professional and easy to work with. I emails a couple of questions before our arrival and received responses within a few hours. Unfortunately, the beach near the house was closed due to Covid. Fortunately the Dunes National and State Parks were nearby and were open (with limited visitors). I would like to go back after Covid when everything is open again.

Master suite very nice with comfortable bed and bathroom. Upstairs queen bed not comfortable at all. Abundant bathrooms. Comfortably sleeps six. Good area for dining and outdoor deck excellent. Living room chairs not very comfortable. Overall very nice

We arrived an hour early and were allowed access to the house. Two gentlemen were cleaning the deck and grill as we were moving in. they were so, so kind. because they were giving us our space, I think they maybe didn't check the lights inside. There were several lights with bulbs that didn't work. it was no big deal though. we made it just fine; we could have called the office if it was a bother. also the lock on the main door almost had us locked out once. other than those minor things, we had a fabulous time. The beds were wonderful. Thank you for an opportunity to rest and get away.

there were 6 of us staying in this house. This house was lovely. Very clean. rooms and beds were great along with the bathrooms in every bedroom which was wonderful. Short walk to the beach. It was all good!

Just steps to the beach. The house feels bigger inside than it looks on the outside. The deck out back had brand new furniture and despite being surrounded by other homes, the trees and shrubs made if feel secluded. The house was very clean and check in and check out were a breeze. My only negatives would be a crack in the master bath toilet seat (an easy fix) and the living room furniture isn't the most comfortable if the rain keeps you inside. Given that, it was a wonderful home and we would stay there again.

We enjoyed our stay at the cottage very much. Spending time with family and having visit with another daughter staying in Michigan City made it extra special. Husband is from Michigan City and he enjoyed showing everyone around and the drive around the home place. Would like to make this an annual tradition.

The location to the lake was wonderful! Not far at all. The number of bathrooms is the cottage was great! Every bedroom had a bathroom plus a guest bathroom! The furniture and carpet/rugs were a bit worn. Many spots on both. the outdoor furniture was not inviting - we wondered if we would get splinters if we sat on it. There is no covering for the double glass door leading outside. We 4 women felt very exposed and the thin coverings onthe windows inthe kitchen and living room weren't much.

Based only on location this rental would receive 5 Stars PLUS. It's perfect, truly just steps from the beach; reserved parking is a major asset and large deck is great. The property was spotlessly clean. They are stingy with towels so take extras of your own. We had a few maintenance glitches (TV went out and needed to be replaced, garbage disposal didn't work), nothing major; upstairs queen bed could use a new mattress. My biggest complaint about the property is see-through blinds in living/dining area. I understand their reasoning (no parties or extra guests) but total lack of privacy is annoying. I've rented this house before and hope to again. A little privacy from the neighbors would be appreciated.
