One of the best places I've been to. So amazing. Great staff and food. I look forward to returning

We visited in the quiet season, and the hotel opened just for the two of us, so we had the entire place to ourselves. It was one of the most surreal and enchanting experiences imaginable. The service was exceptional, as was the food. There is a timelessness about the place, so rich in history. We even had our own movie night in the cinema. It is just wonderful. Don't miss it if you visit Kandy!!

Decor was quirky that’s for sure!

Cockroaches (dead and alive) in the room, used bar of soap in the dirty shower. We paid in advance given we were leaving early the next morning but then found cockroaches in our room. When we complained to reception they refused to come to our room and when we went down again they had closed the door and refused to talk to us! Disgusting room and behaviour from staff.

Needs some serious TLC

I was the only person staying which I found very unsettling. The room was not a great standard with much of the furniture, tiles scratched etc - but more shabby than chic

The atmosphere, the paintings (a little bit freaking but that's the concept), the music in the living room. This place is like a mindf**** museum, with so many details to analyse, a lot of pictures to take. I think you can spend nearly half a day just visiting the hotel. You will be astonished, it's UNIQUE ! You can order drinks at the bar (at a normal price for an hotel) but that's an awesome experience. Advice : Just pay 3$ and visit the place, don't sleep there. Beds are comfy with a net.

Firstly, when we arrived, we have waited a long time, because no one was at the reception. Then, the staff didn't understood what we were asking them about the paiement method and when it must be done. We also read some reviews, stating it's wasn't very clean, but we didn't expect that much... - We found mouse droppings in one of the bed, hopefully, we had 2 beds and the other one only had stains... - When we walked barefoot in the room, our feet went directly black. - Shower wasn't very clean.
