It was okay, but they need to be more cleaner & vacuum hallways, fix elevator, and improve house keeping.

The staff here is outstanding - every member from the moment you walk in (the security guard and valet) to the front desk, and all the bar/kitchen staff have impeccable customer service. 10/10 for the amazing hospitality alone. The hotel property itself is fine. The rooms are small and very basic, and the property itself is noisy as there is a rooftop bar, so you can hear music and people talking late through the night.

This hotel is a great place to visit during a trip to LA, has a great rooftop vibe. It's conveniently located walking distance to the Hollywood stars and other attractions. The rooms are cool, the lobby is practical but with two different chilling areas. The rooms are not bad for the price. Since LA is a driving city you'll need to have a car, so factor in that you'll be paying to don't valet charges as well. Also a few minor set backs happened during our stay, power and wifi went out for a day and had to be downgraded because of plumbing issues. Overall the hotel is not bad, and if they do a full renovation in the near future will be a great place to stay. It's half the price of 5-star hotels with similar theme and crowd, so you do get what you pay for. In summary, if you prefer quality go for one of the better known 5-star hotels. If you're on a limited budget but want somewhere clean with decent sized rooms and a cool vibe, then Mama Shelter is for you.

Nice hotel with very cool rooftop bar

The staff was incredibly friendly and I was able to gain early access to my room. Brittany (front desk) was great as was a security guard (concierge) whose name I forget. They have a wonderfully retro entry area with a bar and dining area. There is also a rooftop bar (with live music, as I recall) which I was unable to visit. I'm returning to LA in mid August and plan to sty there again.

I always enjoying staying at Mama Shelter. It’s clean, comfy and centrally located to where I need to be. Street parking might be a problem but I would definitely stay here again.

Nice but reception could be more friendly. Recommend a lesser max capacity limit for rooftop.

Staff was great! Front desk was pleasant upon arrival. The guys on Saturday morning 6/29 were very accommodating. Thank you! If going to the Bowl see if you can score the guys on the bikes -taking two passengers. Was fun and faster than UBER.

Last minute…11:30pm? 😂 After a long day of fun and sun we drove into Hollywood sooo tired. Pulled into a gas station and booked Mama Shelter. Drove to the hotel and the street and hotel were packed! What a hot spot. Darrell at the front desk found us a comfy seat and a refreshment while waiting for the reservation to make its way in! So friendly and helpful. We’ll be back!

Mama Shelter is a great Hotel in the wrong area, I was not impressed with Hollywood as it was dirty and felt unsafe. Hollywood boulevard is unpleasant and dirty…

It was easy to get around Hollywood walk of fame. Plenty of food and drinks near by. Loved the vibe on the rooftop bar. Staff was so incredibly kind and helpful especially with holding luggage. Elevator gave out once but there was a back up elevator

The staff was remarkably friendly; went above and beyond at each encounter. Note, if you’re visiting on the weekends there is a DJ spinning until 2am so it won’t be quiet until after that.

The hospitality, the party environment of the hotel! We were right under the rooftop bar and it didnt bother us to have the noise all day and night. It made for a fun environment. Food and drinks were excellent at the bar.

One of our favorite places to stay in the area. Convenient parking and close to everything in Hollywood. If you're going to a concert at The Bowl, Greek, or other nearby venue, this is the place. Staff always on point and the rooms are comfy.

Hidden fees. Lots of late nights/early mornings noise from the rooftop parties

Surrounding area was filthy and felt unsafe, Didn't feel as if we could walk to the Hollywood Bowl without being in danger. The carpets in the room we stayed were stained. The masks on the light fixtures on both sides of the bed made me and my wife uncomfortable.

All around great hotel! I saw a lot of comments talking about the noise coming from the upstairs patio, yes you can definitely hear it from your room but it’s not bad enough to keep you up at night. But if you need absolute silence then I would say stay at a more basic holiday inn or something. Just know you’re staying at a very social hotel with a night life! This didn’t hinder my experience because it’s what I was looking for. Very nice hotel and staff located right in the middle of all the other nightlife and tourist attractions. Will be coming back!

Staff were professional, helpful and friendly. The room was very clean but somewhat bare bones. And the party scene at the hotel and those around it means you’ll be hearing the thump thump thumping of music late into the night.

We were here for 1 nite on a thursday. Now its my new favorite Hollywood hotel
