This was one of our favorite place to stay. It’s unfortunate that we only could stay 1 night, however it was a beautiful place. We definitely will stay again.

Wonderful experience staying in a former castle now refitted as luxury hotel accommodation. Grounds were beautiful and dining experience lovely.

Magnificent castle and hotel. The only castle hotel we stayed in that truly felt like being in an authentic castle. Quite an impressive drive up to be topped off by the dramatic, candlelit, red-carpeted staircase. The claw footed tub in its own turret off of our bedroom was sublime. Not to be missed! From the stain-glassed windows and chapel, oversized paintings, the complimentary cakes and tea, to the manicured castle grounds, excellent breakfast and good dinner in the beautiful dining room with attentive staff.

The property is beautiful and the rooms are comfortable. I enjoyed the serenity of the castle hotel. My only recommendation would be to improve the breakfast options/use fresher ingredients.

Markree Castle is a great option for those staying in and around Sligo. The castle itself is beautiful with lots of gardens on the property to explore.
The room we stayed in was spacious and the bathroom in particular was very nice.
Only cons in the room were no fridge and no easily accessible outlets by the bedsides.
The best thing about our stay here was the food. The dinner was the best meal we had in Ireland (and we also stayed at Ashford Castle) and the breakfast was also very good

This is a once in a lifetime kind of hotel stay. I mean what can compare to staying in a castle ? The castle itself is super charming and unique. The grounds are immaculate. And the dining is wonderful. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious. Bed was comfortable. Room was quiet. I can’t say enough good things about our stay.

We loved every second in the castle. From the moment we arrived we were treated so well and felt right at home. The grounds were so lovely and peaceful and it was a fab night away. Breakfast was delicious too. 100% booking a trip back again.

We received a wonderful welcome and check-in was flawless. Dinner and breakfast were lovely. There was a really warm and friendly atmosphere in the castle and the grounds were extremely well maintained. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely return.

Our room had no mirror where makeup could be done or where you could see to use the blow dryer. The bathroom was to dark to get do makeup. Markree is beautifully situated, service was fabulous and staff were very attentive and anticipated needs.

Lovely restored castle! Clean and quiet with superb views and ground! We had a lovely, and very delicious, dinner at the castle and the breakfast was excellent. There are several , lovely and comfortable, rooms to relax, read, or if you need to connect to the wifi. Lovely bathrooms, over all a very beautiful property, loved the Irish Wolfhound that roams the grounds!

A beautiful castle on beautiful grounds. The meals were excellent and the service was amazing. The castle is full of period decorations and artwork. You truly feel like nobility. Friendly Irish wolfhound roaming the grounds and greeting the guests is a final touch. Wish we stayed longer to explore the grounds and secret passages. .

Not a welcoming staff
The only friendly staff were the luggage boys and the the vacuuming lady

We could enjoy the whole castle. We played billiards and we walked the grounds. The food and staff were excellent. Beautiful quiet surroundings and comfortable bed. Magnificent!
