Check in ---handling of charge for room was terrible

We hated the electronic kiosk for check-in. It was not available when we wanted to check in, and the attendants, while pleasant, were difficult to understand. The process was obscure and hard to follow.

Location was perfect for us.

This is a fire hazard waiting to happen. Only one staircase exiting the upper floor. Dog poop on the deck that was never cleaned up. Checkin was done all electronically. Beds were way too high to get into,especially for older people.

Items that need to be reported: Toilet plunging issues- toilet continuously ran and wouldn’t flush without taking the back cover off. AC cover fallen off over and over. Broken legs on rocking chairs very dangerous and someone could fall out! Only one way down in case of a fire is extremely dangerous for second floor guests.

Very convenient and affordable option for a summer stay.

Rooms were close to the road

The check in kiosk was quick and easy. The room was very clean and the bed was super comfortable.

There is no exhaust fan in the bathroom.

This was one of the most cleanest room I've ever stayed in! I was so impressed by the cleanliness. Also, the beds were so comfortable and the sheets and blankets were soft instead of scratchy like most hotels.

The price was a bit high considering there really was no amenities (no pool, gym, office area, or front desk clerk (virtual check-in)). Also, the location was not on the water or near anything special, so I feel the price could have been a little less.

Nothing.

Our room had mold coming from the air conditioner which caused us sinus issues. The bathroom had a hole in the floor where there was originally a sink drain and the old sink hot and cold lines were exposed with a shut off that you could turn on and cause a flood. The room should not be rented. The Inn did not have any staff onsite. We had to talk through a video to someone remote. We had to leave and rent something else. We asked for our money back which they said they would do but it is through Booking.Com and we are waiting for our refund.

We were fortunate to find a room available in the summer at the last minute. The price was comparable to Summer rates, the room was beautifully colonial, clean, everything in the room worked, check in and check out were quick and easy. Cute Inn as you arrive on Manteo, easy access to anywhere on Roanoke Island. Nice sized fridge, microwave, coffee maker and there was even an air fryer in the room!

No ice machines but many places seem to not have ice machines anymore.

Staff and environment was great

Staff was polite and accomodating, large room, good location, excellent bathroom with 3 shower heads, full (non stocked) kitchen (including stove, microwave and dishwasher), comfortable bed.

Slight musty smell from the carpet.

We did not like anything, especially that ridiculous check-in kiosk machine at the Scarborough Inn. We could not understand ANYTHING that was being said. SEE BELOW..

Booking.com DID NOT send our confirmation to Scarborough Inn. They had no reservations for us!!!! There was a HUGE mix up and we had to stay at another hotel.

We won’t be back but it was fairly clean.

There wasn’t an employee on site most of the time. You had to check in and out on a kiosk. The check in and out process took much longer than it should have. We tried to pay with cash and the person on the kiosk took awhile trying to figure that out and then the machine wouldn’t even take the cash. We stayed over a holiday and we had to go to the kiosk to ask for clean towels and then track that person down when they arrived on site. There was not a single employee on site for Memorial Day until we requested towels. No one was ever identifiable by a name tag or t-shirt of the hotel. I randomly asked a guy holding towels if he was a guest or employee so I could get us towels one day. Not once did they bring us clean towels or come in our rooms and get our trash or dirty towels for a 4 night stay! Every single day I had to catch someone or have the kiosk send someone to the hotel to get clean towels. We will not be back. It’s too much work to have to track someone down every day so you can take a daily shower! Also, the beds were higher than normal off the ground and we had to kill several mosquitoes before going to sleep the first night of our stay. Our rooms were very noisy from traffic and slamming doors. The doors had swelled and guests had to slam them to shut them. This wasn’t a peaceful and relaxing place to stay at all.
