The apartment was totally as advertised - beautifully appointed with the bedroom and bathroom inside the caves. Very cool. Location was perfect with a large veranda overlooking the Sasso. Definitely a great stay!
Of course, given the layout of Matera, we had some difficulty finding the check-in area. The door to get to the check-in is to the right of an outdoor restaurant. Once we figured that out, everything went well. Be prepared for some steps, but that is the whole experience!

Fantastic location, incredible sunset views from the terrace.
Bathroom is downstairs which is an issue if you need to visit during the night. To be fair I was aware of this before booking from other reviews but not ideal. However, trade off is the amazing locations and views. Breakfast needs improvement - poor quality orange juice and very little fruit.

It was amazing, looking out over the old town and with its own terrace to enjoy the view. The apartment was very spacious and well furnished.

Excellent location close to everything. Good communication from owner and helpful with any issues or queries.

Breakfast:
The girl who 'served' breakfast. We found her quite rude - it was not a language problem as she spoke and understood English well but she did not greet us, almost rolled her eyes when we asked for cappuccino rather than regular coffee and when there was a power cut the first morning whilst having breakfast, she did not offer any explanation or let us know she was dealing with it- we had to ask (as were awaiting toast). She clearly did not want to be there and her attitude made this very clear. I would suggest a course in hospitality as her attitude let the experience down.
The breakfast itself was quite limited - just basic cereal, cheese, bread, yoghurts and very sweet pastries - the waitress also limited our milk allowance! Given the price of the accommodation, I expected better.

The authenticity of the property - you can’t beat the ambience of sleeping in a cave! The terrace was used every evening, one of the main features of why we chose Sassisuite - and it didn’t disappoint!

Superb location, spacious rooms, breathtaking terrace
Unprofessional staff without style. Imagine a host crying at helpless guest who don‘t understand the language instead of explaining patiently and giving a helpful hand 🤷♂️

Very modern, spacious and clean apartment just in the middle of Sassi. The balcony/patio is amazing overlooking the old town - this is absolutely wow!
it’s very difficult to find, make sure you know the way beforehand. also it’s not easy for someone who travels with luggage

The balcony was amazing with beautiful views of the town, it would have been even better if there were a couple of sunbeds to relax in after a hard day of sightseeing
The trek from the parking to the room was quite hard going, if you have any sense only bring small luggage

Excellent location with a view from terrase to the cathedral and the center of Matera sassi. Very good breakfast, cosy but spacious suite. Perfect for some romantic time. Very friendly and supportive owner.

Location and morning staff was excellent but the contact person told us to meet up in an area where cars cannot enter, so we got a parking ticket unnecessarily

Perfect location and amazing terrace with amazing views.
The host kindly reserved a spot for us in a car park. We then found out too late that it was extremely expensive (20 euros per night, same for the following afternoon). We had no indication as to how to get to the flat and the steep steps of Matera are difficult to understand with heavy luggage. He then refused for us to leave our luggage the following day and we had to pay for an additional afternoon at the parking.
Finally, beware that the photos are misleading and the sofas and terrace are shared. Even though it is advertised as private terrace which you pay extra for when booking.

Great location, great views, felt like a good sized apartment for 4 people compared to some hotel rooms, friendly staff / check in process
Was noisy at night from local bars/ restaurants, air con was noisy didn’t feel as luxurious as we expected, second bedroom was mezzanine as opposed to double bed in room

Service and staff at Sassisuite were exceptional! The rooms were comfortable and very clean. Location is excellent and the breakfast was amazing! The view from the terrace is one of the best in Sassi!
