This was a great place to stay for our group of twelve. There are plenty of bedrooms with en suite bathrooms, a huge dining room, two family rooms, and many places to hang out together or get away for some privacy. The showers are all heat-on-demand, so you never have to wait for hot water. The kitchen is large and well stocked. We had some trouble with the washing machine, but the host was responsive and delivered a substitute washer the same day. We would definitely come back.

Burgie House exceeded all of our expectations. The grounds are phenomenal. The house was big enough to give everyone in our party of 16 their own space, but also places to gather. We gathered around the table nightly to reflect on the day's adventures.
A wonderful location to gather.

The beautiful large house catered for a group of friends with family. The heritage house was comfortable although a little fragile. The caretaker was very helpful. The large beautiful garden was the most loved space for all..

Burgie house was just as advertised, beautiful manor home; great grounds and our chef made our stay memorable for our group of 14. Only one suggestion: management should invest in new mattresses in some of the guest rooms.

Burgie House was the highlight of our 2-week stay. Our family of 21 people loved the house and the grounds. Plenty of common space and bedrooms are plenty big to “get away” from the commotion and rest peacefully. Encourage you to use the lovely kitchen and dining area for special events. We used local caterer and piper for an afternoon of fun. The Ceiligh dance hall was perfect for our family’s dance lesson with the local piper/keyboardist and Ceiligh teacher. This was after a lovely brunch cooked in by Emma and her daughter Rosie. Lifetime of memories. Highly recommend.

We had a great stay at the Burgie House. We had a large family group (18) with a wide range of ages, from 4 - 75 years old. The house is massive with many rooms and bedrooms. Was well stocked in the kitchen.
The highlight is probably the landscape and outside view of the house. We took many family photos around the house.
We did various day trips in the area, and while there was a good amount of driving each day, we were able to do a lot.
I would recommend, and would love to visit again someday.

Hosted a family gathering for 20 guests which was absolutely fantastic at Burgie House. Everything about the house was perfect it’s a great space for a big group gathering. Sarah was very informative and helpful when communicating prior and during our stay. The property amenities were perfect for our size of group with plenty more space if we needed it. The house was beautiful with so much history amazingly preserved. Just waiting for our next big birthday or celebration to have the excuse to book again! Thanks so much.

Great property in a great location. We were 6 family's and we had a fantastic week. The grounds are lovely with plenty of walks when you don't fancy a drive.

My husband and I booked Burgie House originally in January 2019 for a 2020 extended family trip that ended up postponed until this summer. We had 15 family members ages 17-84 from the US and entertained 7 of our Scotland clan. We had our hearts set on Burgie House not only for its number of bedrooms and bathrooms but also for the number of relaxation and reading rooms and the acreage and arboretum. We had a lot of personalities under one roof and wanted to make sure that anyone wanting space could have it. We had two catered dinners, a Ceilidh in the Ceilidh room as well as an unexpected performance by our Scotland cousins the day we had our Scotland and US family gathering. Burgie house was well appointed and is in a great location to serve as a home base for those wanting to explore Speyside and beyond. We played games and enjoyed many drams of whiskey around the large dining table. We spent a lot of time outside and exploring the grounds. A few family members had to work intermittently and internet on the mail floor sufficed. We had one evening where we blew a fuse and it was repaired in less than an hour. There was a great sense of sadness when it was time to leave. We all had an amazing week and I highly recommend Burgie House as your group’s next destination. For me and my husband it was our vision and dream come true.

Magical manor house in beautiful Scotland
Step back in time and enjoy the grandness of the Burgie House and it's beautiful properties! We had the best time at this location and everyone in our group gave it 5 stars. The house is large, with 12 bed rooms, plenty of bathrooms, many sitting and drawing rooms and other spaces to hang out. All ammenities you need are provided including a huge stone grill, kitchen appliances and accessories, games, and books galore. We cooked for our group of 13 every night and had everything we needed to make it fun. Our group also enjoyed a billards tournament in the billards room, played giant Guiness Jinga in the drawing room, had grand feasts in the great hall, and strolled throught the aboretum and down country lanes to see the castle ruins. It is an older building so don't expect state of the art and the wi-fi is a little spotty, but it is just part of the charm! It was a truely magical expereince for us! Thank you Sarah, Hamish and the Burgie Property!

The holiday was a great success - building / grounds / location. The house was large enough to allow indoor activities, had the weather been inclement. The sun shone every day, and the only problem was excess heat! A suggestion for future enjoyment, an operational music source in the ballroom would have added an extra sparkle.

The house was HUGE! We were at full capasity and still left with more space than we could have ever needed. We were able to decorate the house to make it special for our big day. The house was over all quite clean but the furniture had seen better days. You can tell it was a once loved family home and an abundance of history. The tired decor was fine for us as it helped create the relaxed event we wanted, 100% happy and would reccomend the venue to anyone.

Burgie House exceeded our and our families' expectations in every dimension. We rented the house for one week for our wedding and had everyone stay with us during that time -- and we all can't wait to go back. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a beautiful, peaceful, and grand escape from the world.
Price: For the price per night of one kinda-fancy hotel room in San Francisco, Burgie House gets you enough space to very comfortably house two dozen people. It's an incredibly deal.
Setting and Accessibility: ~ 50 Minute drive from downtown Inverness, or a bit longer by train to Forres and bus. Both Forres and Elgin (~15 minutes drive away) have tesco superstores with the supplies one might need for the week, as well as a handful of tasty restaurants. The house is situated about equidistant from a cluster of major distilleries, hiking in cairngorms park, hiking at loch ness, and trips into town.
Space: The pictures online make the house appear smaller than it is. Inside, ceilings range from 9 foot to maybe 12 foot. The living rooms are all very large, easily fitting several couches and pieces of furniture. The downstairs pool table is the size of a small swimming pool. The sound insulation is excellent, such that loud music and dancing can take place on one side of the house, and not be heard a couple rooms away. Astounding. Bedroom to bedroom sound insulation is also very good.
Bedrooms and Bathrooms: All were very clean, comfortable (even the twin beds), and fairly spacious, with lovely views of the grounds. Bathrooms have carpet, which is a little odd, but towels are provided to keep it from getting wet.
Grounds: the grounds put one in mind of a feudal kingdom, scattered with several lodges and smaller houses, large crop fields, a gorgeous and huge arboretum, stables for horses and pigs, and a coniferous region. Hiking, running and exploring the property are multi-day activities alone, and offer beautiful views of findhorn bay.
Service/Interactions with hosts. Alec, Polly and Hamish communicated regularly with us and were welcoming and extremely helpful in getting us set up (we needed a couple kid's cots). Maeve was also very helpful and kind. When a member of the family had an urgent health issue requiring a trip to the hospital, the hosts reached out to us to offer a very late check out.

A family group of 15 from the US stayed for a week at Burgie House and really enjoyed the house and grounds. There was plenty of room for everyone to spread out. The billiards table was definitely a hit. Some amazing stuffed birds inhabit the billiards room as well - worth checking out! The kitchen is large, and fully equipped with two dishwashers, two coffee makers, two toasters and two ovens. There is plenty of china, glasses and silverware for a big group - we had caterers come and prepare dinner for 4 nights. Would definitely recommend that approach, as it is hard to get dinner reservations for 15 people. Any issues that came up were dealt with promptly, such as one toilet that broke and needed fixing. The house has wonderful high ceilings and enormous windows which make it very pleasant inside. One note to Americans- it is not highly modernized, so expect shabby chic, not the latest decor. Bathrooms are functional but have classic old sinks and faucets. The light switches are very cool and old school, presumably dating from when electricity was first put in. Another note - the house listing mentions that wine is available from the wine cellar - that is no longer the case. The grounds are also very special - there is an extensive arboretum as well as country roads that lead back past the house up to the hills overlooking Findhorn Bay. Pretty views. And there is a family of bunnies that live near the end of the driveway who seemed to enjoy greeting us when we drove in and out. One more note- the road leading to the driveway has some significant pot holes, so would avoid renting a car that is very low to the ground. A very special experience and very reasonably priced too!! Final note - there is wifi, but it is limited to the TV room and kitchen area. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but social media and phone addicts should be advised.

Our group thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Burgie House.
It is a very beautiful and at the same time very comfortable mansion home. It could not have been better.

Great holiday with family n friends.
Great house with lots of living rooms should you want a bit a piece and quiet.
Couple of bedrooms on top floor could do with a bit of tlc but otherwise sleeping facilities were great.
Just be prepared in summer to be swamped with flies - pack sticky strips etc.
Grounds are amazing with lots to explore.

Perfect home for a big occasion
Our generation of my wife’s large family all spent a week together here in this wonderful house. Very well kept house and grounds, with lots of space in the lounges, and plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms such that everyone felt comfortable and at ease. The kitchen facilities were fine, and the dining hall worked exceptionally well for us. We had an outside caterer on one of the evenings, and the food and atmosphere just couldn’t have been bettered. I can happily say that all 20 of us were just over the moon with Burgie House, and all its amenities.

Beautiful, historic property that is in one of the most gorgeous settings you could imagine.
Wonderful week with family and friends celebrating a wedding and gathering of loved ones. If you love history and nature I doubt if you could find a better place to stay! We had a wonderful cook for the week (Emma E Swan) that made sure we all went home 10 lbs heavier. We had 2 music nights with a full on Ceilidh Saturday night! Rory O’Connel and David Goodin were wonderful! We had a day of fly fishing with “you fish Scotland’ and a riding day with Equus Riding. All wonderful memories and just a bit of what we did while there. Alec, Polly and Hamish were all wonderful to work with and very kind. Loved this place, the people and the land!

Burgie House is every thing as described. We had a great time here and would certainly recommend Bugie House to others. Alec and Polly were very pleasant to work with. Also if you are looking for great meals, Mhairi’s meals were delicious and her company delightful.

New Years Eve Getaway
This is a wonderful place to escape to where one can relax, party, chill out and explore. The estate has plenty of places to wander and a truly stunning arboretum that is is being developed behind the house. There are a range of bedrooms and the main rooms vary between a comfortable snug through to formal sitting room, a dance room and a snooker room. A great base for a fun and relaxed break in the North of Scotland.

The house and grounds were truly splendid
If you are looking for a grand location for family and friends then you need look no further. The house and grounds allow you to slip back to a bygone time where friends and family can explore and relax. The feel of the house is welcoming with a variety of rooms to entertain in suitable for everything from your dogs to the grandest house guest. Children will enjoy the many floors and staircases and, if like mine, will most likely disappear for the majority of your visit. The garden that circles the house is a wonderful play area and the arboretum and lake beyond are of interest to all. Slightly further up the hill the views to the moray firth are spectacular. I cannot recommend the house or the service from the owners highly enough. I look forward to returning soon.

Wonderful large house that oozes character & charm
This house has a wonderful family feel and gave all the guests very many happy memories. Truly a great place to entertain and spend some proper time with family and friends, a rare opportunity to actually be in a large family home that is not a hotel. It could not be easier to get to and find and there are excellent local amenities. Excellent customer service from the owners and nothing was too much trouble. I would definitely recommend this property.
