About this house rental
Apartment completely renovated in June 2014. 80 square meters plus a garden outside.
Located in a residential area, the apartment is on the ground floor and is fully accessible without the need for elevators. The car park is just 50 m away from the property, in a secure gate, locked overnight . This property offers the possibility of a holiday in a quiet area, a short drive from the Cinque Terre.
The full kitchen, living room, TV, internet access and a private garden are among the amenities available in this property. The garden, in particular, is ideal to have meals (breakfast, lunch or dinner) outdoors.
The bedrooms, both very spacious, are two triple rooms, with a double bed and a single bed each. Ideal for a family with children.
The living room is also equipped with a double sofa bed, extending the maximum capacity of the apartment to 8 guests.
Just 900 m from the train station (10 minutes on foot) and boarding boats to the islands and to Portofino, Portovenere and Genoa Aquarium. Structure near restaurants with typical Ligurian focaccia and fish very good and fresh. On the outskirts of La Spezia, the historic center is within walking distance. A few miles from the sea. Portovenere and Lerici can be reached using the comfortable boat service that leaves from the city center.
To reach the apartment and travel in the area, given the great proximity to the station and public transport, it is not necessary to use a private car.

This property was absolutely perfect for our short stay vising La Spezia, Cinque Terre and Portovenere. Renata was a brilliant host and was nearby if we needed anything. The property was very clean and well equipped which made our stay even better. Parking was very close by and gated. La spezia town center was about 15 minutes walk. Portovenere (our pick of places to visit) was a 20 minute drive. My advice is to park at the top of the hill and walk down! Cinque terra is a 23 minute train ride away and is a must for any short visit. I would recommend staying here if you get the chance. Thank you to Renata and her family for their hospital.

Great stay. Renata was super helpful and arranged for reservations for diner when we asked for help.
It is less than 20 min to the train station to Cinq Terre.
Rooms are spacious and it is nice to have 2 bathrooms.
The AC worked great. Supermarket and bakery are 2 min walk! We stayed there 4 nights.
Renata was kind enough to have cold wine, a few beers and snacks when we arrived. We were very grateful!

Our family of 6 had a memorable stay at Renata’s. She made us feel at home and cozy. It felt like she knew us for a long time and we were visiting family. She really tried her best to help us feel at home by getting a translator to help us explore the city. She even made sure we had parking for free. La Spezia is a place for adventure. Walking down to the train station or taking the bus to get to Cinque Terre. Will use her place again.

Renata was lovely and met us outside her property as we arrived. She was a huge help with where to go/park in surrounding towns.
No tourists in area - you feel part of local community
Suite was spacious and clean
Lovely back patio with table and chairs
Locked/gated parking at end of street
City has lovely waterfront and park - vibrant
Great spot for taking off to the Cinque Terre (by car, train or boat) and more northern towns/villages.
Could use some newer beds/mattresses but comfortable enough. We had a wonderful stay.

A beautiful home conveniently located near La spezia centrale by walking and bus. Renata, our host, was very helpful and responsive. She made sure we had everything we needed during our stay. The place is spacious and was clean.

The location was great. We walked to the train station and the marina. Enjoyed living like a local with market and grocery store close by
Renata is a gem. She sincerely cares.
Out door garden area was so peaceful

Renata is a host extraordinaire and is committed to ensuring her guests have the best experience. Renata provided all transportation to and from the train station on arrival/departures for all of my guests, provides resto recommendations/makes the reservations and is available 24/7 for anything the guest requires. Renata messages through Whatsapp for more detailed conversations. The timeliness of her communication is also excellent and immediate. The accommodation is clean, well appointed and spacious . There is no microwave. We used the oven to warm up pizza, make bruschetta etc. There is no North American coffee machine but there is a Bialetti which my family was a pro at using.
The holiday home is in a residential area, not a tourist area which was appealing for us. We LOVED the garden. It is accessible by foot for every place you need to go including groceries, produce, and patisserie. The bus system is excellent. The #3 Bus makes life very easy to get everywhere you need to go. Also in the neighbourhood is a fantastic resto Osteria da Caran which is a local place with an amazing patio. We highly recommend. Renata will make reservations for you! Do not hesitate to book this vacation rental. We all LOVED Renata and the vacation rental!

Renata was a wonderful host. She went above and beyond to make our stay an enjoyable one. Her home is lovely with 2 bedrooms and 2 full baths and more than enough space for the 3 of us. The garden was beautiful and a nice place to enjoy the lovely weather we had during our visit. She picked us up at the station so we didn’t have to carry our luggage, had all sorts of recommendations and made reservations for us for dinner. It’s obvious that she loves hosting and wanted to make sure that we had a wonderful trip. It was in a great location and easily accessible to Cinque Terre by train. She treated us like family. We highly recommend her place and would definitely stay again if ever coming back to Cinque Terre.

Our family really enjoyed this property in Le Spezia. We arrived really late on a train, yet Renata (our host) arranged her colleagues to meet us and acquaint us with the property. The patio was lovely to eat breakfast on and there was plenty of space for our family of six. Renata was even kind enough to stock our fridge with a few food items for breakfast! This location worked very well for us to do a day trip in Cinque Terra and we would definitely recommend it.

The host made us feel so welcome and comfortable in her house, the rooms and facilities were more than comfortable. Advice from Renata made travel and sight seeing along the Cinque Terre and Port Venere so enjoyable with lunch recommendations and detailed transport options. We would highly recommend this accomodation to anyone and hope you are lucky enough to get a successful booking

We chose this place based on reviews of Renata as well as the location. As others have said she is great. The house was comfy and clean and a short bus ride to the train or downtown. It’s about 20 minutes walk to the train. Everything we needed for the stay was provided.
Renata is amazing. She picked us up at the train, made a reservation at a neighborhood restaurant and helped us figure out how to tour thr 5 towns. She drove us to Port Venere and told us all about the area. She helped us find the right boat to go from there to one of the 5 towns. She also took us to the train when we departed.
Our stay in La Spezia was wonderful thanks to Renata

From the moment you meet Renata your host you will feel like she is your family. She has a beautiful heart soul and personality. She went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and it’s so many extra things you would not normally expect a host to do. My friend is very tall and was so absolutely in love with the extra long bathtub. Her adorable apartment was clean and quiet. We were close to transportation within walking distance but she also made herself available when she could. Don’t worry if you can’t speak Italian she is amazing with Google Translate. She told us that whoever comes to stay with her they become her family and she means that from the heart. It is a great place to explore the Cinque Terre.

Renata was a great host! She is very giving and caring, treating us like family, and she went out of her way to make sure we had a wonderful vacation! First, she picked us up at the train station. What a blessing that was because we were exhausted from our trip! Then, she took us to the grocery store to get what we needed. She speaks a little English, and I speak and can understand a little Italian (and my friend speaks Spanish), so we were able to communicate fairly well. She was available if we had any needs or concerns. She recommended restaurants and made reservations for us, she called the taxi for us when we asked, and she even took us to Portovenere one day! The apartment was perfect for two couples, and it was equipped with everything we needed. Our bed was uncomfortable, but there were several sleeping options, so we were fine.

We traveled here by train from Rome and from the start everything was wonderful. Renatta, our host met us at the station. She is a truly beautiful soul. The entire Cinque Terre region is absolutely stunning. Porto Venere also a must see. We traveled there by ferry from the port in La Spezia, although Renatta offered to take us with her. She is truly amazing and her place is a perfect place to relax after a long day. The court yard is private and surrounded by beautiful lemon trees. The beauty of Cinque Terre is only matched by the kindness of Renatta. She makes you feel like you're home with an old friend. Will definitely return on our next trip to Italy. Renatta, you made me wish I could speak Italian. I will work on that for my next visit, so we can have a long conversation. Thank you for a beautiful time. Sirina and Stan.

Stayed here for 3 nights as a base to explore Cinque Terre. Renata is the owner and she lives alone upstairs from the apartment. She is so lovely and is really the reason to book this apartment. We communicated with Whatsapp. She does well using google translate. She does speak enough English as well. She picked us up from the train and also took us back to the train when we left. We are a family of 4 with 2 adult daughters. The first day she drive us to Porto Venere and we hiked (9 miles) to Riomaggiore. It is a beautiful and very strenuous hike. We took the train back to La Spezia.
The apartment is clean, pretty small but has everything. There is a small washing machine and a rack to hang clothes. Kitchen was very clean. Has all the basic stuff. We were able to cook as needed. There is a grocery store about an 8 minute walk away. I also noticed a pharmacy close by.
It is about a mile along a busy road to the train. I think she would have been happy to drive us anywhere. The train is about 8 minutes to Cinque Terre.
Of note this is not really in a touristy area and La Spezia is not all that nice. It was much cheaper than staying in Cinque Terre though.
This apartment is an excellent value.

From the online photos we thought this property was in a more rural setting. It could definitely be that we did not read it thoroughly but I am a seasoned VRBO traveler and host and our arrival surprised us.
The location is in a busy neighborhood through which you need to navigate and, with no way to get through the street after dropping off or picking up luggage, you need to back up in a narrow and auto-filled lane and the car park is pretty far down.
That said, Renata was extremely helpful and friendly. She lives in the same building and loves hosting her guests. With two baths and two bedrooms, my friend and I could spread out a bit and with a kitchen and washer, our stay was mostly comfortable. We were thankful that we brought our own pillows and small down cover, but the beds could use better mattresses
Everything worked well and walking to the grocery and nearby restaurants allowed us to feel a part of the community.

We had an amazing stay at Renata’s place! She was an incredible host! Renata picked us up at the train station as well as dropped us off. Gave us a quick tour of La Spezia and took us to a small town for a swim and some amazing sites. Her home was well equipped, clean and in a good location. Thanks again for allowing us to use your home and I hope you will visit us in the US soon!!

First, Renata, is the best host! Answered all questions quickly. Met us when we arrived. Walked us through the apartment, explained what was available, how to manage rubbish and let us use her private parking. She is a lovely person who welcomed us into her home. LaSpezia is a beautiful town. Toward the docks, there is a great farmers market ( Market Square), all sorts of restaurants and cafes. We drove to Porto Venere, which was a great drive, wonderful restaurants and beautiful views.
The apartment is lovely. Size and configuration was perfect. When we left, my husband & I both said, we could have stayed a week! Renata's house is the perfect base camp to then explore the Cinque Terre and surrounding area, and with Renata as the host, Perfecto!

Renata is everything that the other reviews state and more. She is gracious and accommodating and truly treats you like her family. The house is perfectly situated in La Spezia with easy access to the port, train station (which goes to both Cinque Terre and also the rest of Italy) and the city center. There are many restaurants, stores and cafes available. Renata's passion and dedication to her home and making your stay special is very evident.
Public transportation and parking are readily available at her home. However, our family chose to walk to the port and back both days and we are so happy we did. The ferry to Porte Venere is 100% worth the trip. We were able to experience all that the city center had to offer with shops, restaurants and more.
If looking for local places to visit, eat, or explore, please ask Renata for her recommendation and take her advice.

This was an absolutely wonderful stay during our 3 week trip to Italy. Renata is the perfect host; so kind and generous. The apartment is very clean and well appointed. The grocery store is a 5 minute walk away, and the train station is very close for trips to Cinque Terre and the ferry is also there to go to Portovenere (must see), but in our case the lovely Renata drove us to Portovenere and we took the ferry back. Renata is the perfect host and I hope we stay in contact because we definitely want to visit again. Thank you, Renata!

Renata's apartment was great, well equipped with everything you could need, spacious and had the added bonus of the garden.
Renata was a fabulous host, she made us feel very welcome from the moment we arrived, taking us to the local supermarket and making a dinner reservation for us that evening. She did everything possible to make us feel welcome.
Renata told us about the area and recommended various places to visit. She also kindly took us to Porta Venere, which was fabulous and so worth a visit.
The apartment is in a very convenient location approx 10-15 minutes walk to the train station and into the town where there are many restaurants and shops. La Spezia is an ideal location for visiting the Cinque Terra which we loved.
Renata was a fantastic host and even took us to the station when we departed. We would highly recommend her and know that anyone staying at her apartment will have a fantastic time.

Recanta was amazing! She was like a mother who wanted to take care of you. Went above and beyond to pick me and my family up from the station, which I'm very thankful for. Her house was amazing from the bedding to amenities to the walkable markets and the train station. The area was very scenic as well, with beautiful views and the proximity to Cinque Terre. You won't regret your stay here!

My family of 4, husband, myself, 22 yo son and 20 yo daughter stayed here and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We used this as our base to explore Cinque Terre, Florence and Rome. We were greeted by Renata who showed us around the apartment and was extremely helpful.
The apartment has two bedrooms, both with a large double bed and a single bed. There is also a futon in the living room if needed.
We used the kitchen a few times and it is equipped with almost everything. I would suggest a pasta fork and some tongs but we managed.
We used the washing machine and brought the eco washer sheets from home as they pack well. There is a drying rack provided.
Parking spot is down the street and easily accessible.
Renata is very helpful and loaned us beach towels and a beach bag for our day in Cinque Terre, making dinner reservations for us and even sending us copies of our passport photos when we didn’t think to bring them for the train.
We walked to the grocery store and to the pizzeria which in our opinion had the best pizza!
We loved our stay and would recommend

Lovely house and garden, just 10 minute walk from the train station. Spacious house in a very quiet and friendly neighbourhood. Our hostess was so nice and friendly and went above and beyond to help us anyway she could. Highly recommended.

Beautiful and large apartment for 4 people with 2 bathrooms.
Very nice and cozy terrace where we had our breakfast every morning.
Nice location to discover the area by train and/or by car as well as by boat (La Spezia, Cinque Terre, Portovenere, Portofino, Lerici, Lucca, Montemarcello,…..)
Renata, our hostess, gave us an excellent welcome on our arrival and showed us to our private car park. Communication with her was in French both personally and via WhatsApp.
Renata also gave us some very good restaurants, which she personally made the reservations for us. She also personally took us by car to the port where we took the boat for Cinque Terre. Renata has also suggested a number of places for pleasant outings. Renata is the perfect hostess that we could be proud of.
Greetings from Marcel, Jacqueline, Sonja and Gerard

Who knew we would be staying in Paradise? If we could give Renata 10 or 20 stars we would. From the time she picked us all (and our luggage) up at La Spezia Centrale train station until our departure 4 days later, Renata was gracious, patient, helpful, and kind. Her place was a advertised, inviting, peaceful, and in a perfect location. She offered to drive us to places of interest since it was raining. She gave us the best “local flavor” restaurants, helpful hints to navigate the town, and suggestions on how to visit Cinque Terre and Portovenere. Our stay at Renata’s was like having another family member with us on vacation. We hope to return there soon and highly recommend her piece of paradise in La Spezia. Grazie tanto, Renata. Renata was a wonderful host. The property location is ideal. Easy to use bus and train to Cinque Terre , Pisa . Penney Market and Plus Trattoria very close for groceries or just some special treats. Local fruit and vegetables are the best. We had the best experience and we plan to return.

We had such a warm welcome from Renata (and her son who was visiting from UK). Everything is explained well. She had water, some bread, juice for the kid and candies waiting for us. Bedsheets, room heaters, dishwasher, washer for clothes was all available and came in so handy!
She made dinner reservations and went above and beyond to make our stay perfect!
Also packed some pastries for the road! It felt like we were family and not just guests!

Renata greeted us at the train station upon arrival and drove us back at the end of our stay. Her home was very clean and quiet. She arranged dinner reservations for us and provided recommendations for nearby market, wine store, and bakery. Renata was so very kind, we felt at home in her residence. She also drove us to nearby Porta Venere where we spent half a day enjoying this beautiful seaside village. We want to return so we can spend more time with Renata.

We had a fantastic stay at this property. Renata was such a kind and helpful host. She went above and beyond with restaurant bookings, transport assistance and travel advice. The house is perfect for larger groups and only a 15 min walk to the train station to reach the Cinque Terre. We would certainly stay here again! Thank you Renata

Our place in La Spezia was wonderful as was our host Renata….a real gem! Went above and beyond to make our stay exceptional. We were a short train ride away from the wonderful sites along the Ligurian coast. We had a small wedding ceremony in Monterosso and Renata provided us with flowers for our special day! We will definitely be back for another visit. Thanks so much Renata 💞

Renata is simply the most cheerful and helpful VRBO owner you will ever meet--and, I have stayed in 50+ VRBO properties and was even a VRBO owner myself! Her enthusiasm, information, kindness, and willingness to help us was absolutely remarkable. Thank you, Renata, for making our stay memorable and comfortable. Teddy and Meg

I've never stayed with a more welcoming host than Renata. She makes you feel like family. Our arrival in La Spezia was delayed far later than planned. Not only was she extremely accommodating of our schedule changes, and not only did she pick us up from the train station, she made sure we wouldn't go to bed hungry and walked us down to the amazing pizza and pasta place down the street. You can tell Renata cares a lot about her town and community and will tell you all the good places in town to go. She knew of a less-popular place in Cinque Terre that ended up being a highlight of our trip. She gave us tips on how to enjoy the beach in Monterosso. It was wonderful having a local to take care of us.
La Spezia was a great base for exploring Cinque Terre. The train station is a short walk from the apartment and will take you into each of the 5 towns. Come back to this apartment at night, stop by Osteria da Caran down the street for a pizza, then wake up in the morning and enjoy Renata's homemade marmellata out on the beautiful patio.

We very much enjoyed our stay. The inside and outside of property was beautiful. Renatta gave us a ride a couple of times, which was much appreciated. She also left treats. Renatta does not speak much English, but she had someone help on our first day to make sure we had necessary info.
We had some trouble getting the buses in La Spezia, but that was not an issue with host. Not a lot of taxis in this area.
Was convenient location to tour Cinque Terre, however; train station walkable from home- 12 minutes. Would stay there again.

We stayed in La Spezia for 5 wonderful days. Renata and Radiana met us at the train station and brought us to her lovely apartment on a quiet street. There is a gorgeous garden in the back surrounded by fruit trees where we enjoyed our breakfast. The apartment is very clean and spacious for our group of 4. Renata is such a welcoming and friendly host who helped us with reservations at a great local restaurant, reserved chairs and umbrellas for us at a gorgeous beach in Monterosso and she even drove us to Portovenere where we spent a lovely day. La Spezia Centrale is a short 15' walk from the apartment where you can get trains to Cinque Terre that run frequently throughout the day. There is a grocery store, bakery and coffee shop very close by and we always felt safe walking whether it was early morning or late in the evening. I would highly recommend staying here. Renata's kindness and generosity as a host made for a perfect home base to enjoy Cinque Terre.

This was one of the best properties we have stayed at. Renata communicated so well with us and even met us at the property to make sure we were settled with parking and the house. The house was comfort with all the amenities that we needed. We loved being in a quiet neighborhood and it was so easy to jump on the train to Cinque Terre. It was a short 10 min walk to the train station. The local nearby restaurants were fun because there were less tourists and more Italians with superb food. Renata really added personal touches to help orient us to the area quickly. She is incredible kind and treated us like a bed and breakfast place!
Fantastic property and we hope to come back there again soon!

Easy, Quiet Neighborhood with Lovely Garden
We really enjoyed our stay at Renata's apartment. She was very friendly and helpful. She even invited us to join her for a beach day and gave us some homemade marmalade! The apartment was simple and clean in a quiet residential area. The backyard garden was perfect for relaxing. There are nice restaurants and some terrific grocery stores and bakeries within a couple minutes walk. We walked into the downtown area one day and it was very pleasant. Would definitely recommend to anyone who wants an easy stay in La Spezia!

Family vacation
We had a great time and Renata was a super host! Property is in a city neighborhood with short walk (5 min) to a supermarket and a great restaurant. Gated, off street, parking is available as well. The train station is a 15 minute walk, making quick access to Cinque Terra and surrounding attractions. There are bus stops nearby as well, so it is well suited to public transportation access. The property is on the bottom floor of the building shown in pictures and the amenities are accurate to include clothes washer (no dryer) and air conditioning. The best part was Renata who is a great host. She lives above the property and is willing to help with whatever your needs are to include booking restaurant reservations, directions to attractions, and help as desired. She even brings delicious treats! She speaks Italian, French, and a little English, but enough for us to communicate effectively. Great stay!

The location:
The Cinque Terre is best visited by train or boat. The appartement is perfectly situated for this:
- 900m to the train station, from where the train goes directly to all five villages.
- 20 minutes walk to the beautiful port of La Spezia, from where boats leave every hour for the Cinque Terre.
- 15 minutes walk to the also very nice downtown of La Spezia with many restaurants, cafés and bars.
The appartement
The appartement is very nice and wonderfully situated in a quiet street with no through traffic. There is also a private and locked parking space 20m from the appartement. The private garden in the courtyard is beautifully planted and invites you to relax. You can also enjoy your meals there at the large table under the shady umbrella. The kitchen is fully equipped and there is a dishwasher. The appartement also has two bathrooms and a washing machine. The beds in the two bedrooms are large and very comfortable. Overall, it is one of the nicest holiday appartements I have ever visited. And I have already visited many. 😊
The hostess
Renata is by far the best hostess I have ever had. The contact worked wonderfully, she picked us up right in front of the house when we arrived and was incredibly warm and friendly. We felt like we had come home to our mother. Thank you again for everything, Renata! 😊
