About this villa rental
Casa Abuelo is located in the much sought after private road of Los Calamares in the heart of Playa Blanca village (5 minute walk to shops, restaurants, bars and beach).
We purchased the property as a holiday home for our young family in 2012 and it has undergone a sensitive extension and modernisation programme since then. The villa is finished to a high standard, with stone tiles, mosaics, beautiful kitchen, good quality appliances, powerful showers and handcrafted wooden doors and pergola made for us by a local craftsman.
The villa offers a spacious and luxurious self catering property just a few minutes walk from the main beaches and restaurants of Playa Blanca village; yet with all the benefits of being set in a peaceful, mature, residential development. The property offers four bedrooms (two en-suite), open-plan living/dining room and large modern kitchen with bi-fold doors to the garden.
The living area offers large flat-screen Samsung TV with internet TV system offering all British TV channels along with Sky channels (movies, sport, Atlantic etc), hundreds of Freeview channels and a large selection of box sets and movies on demand. There is free high-speed wifi available to guests throughout the villa (upgraded summer 2018).
All four bedrooms are air-conditioned (new system installed summer 2017) and have sliding doors opening out onto the surrounding garden and patio areas. Both the king and super-king mattresses in the main suites have been imported from the UK to ensure you sleep in the utmost comfort during your stay. The linen is all 100% cotton, as are the towels (pool towels also provided). Cots and highchairs can also be provided if required and there is a selection of children books and toys.
Externally, the property offers a beautiful and spacious pool complex comprising a free-form pool (depth range 1m-1.8m), jacuzzi spa and children's paddling pool (depth approx. 40-60cm). All three pools are linked by marble waterfalls and are solar heater with electrical backup heating (jacuzzi sometimes left unheated during colder winter months to keep main pool temperature as high as possible). A secure gate and low wall prevent young children from easily accessing the pool area and the garden's side gate can be bolted to ensure that children are free to play in the rear garden without any risk of being able to access the pools. There is also access to a large shared pool (unheated) a few minute's walk away as well as the communal tennis courts.

This villa is a fantastic find. Great location - short walk to the shops, the beaches, the playground, and the restaurants and bars along the seafront.
My family stayed for a week and the villa was well-equipped for our party of 4 adults and a 2 year old. It's nicely decorated and has all you need for a family holiday. The pool was lovely and the addition of a toddler splash pool was excellent.
The neighbours attached were noisy for 3 nights (banging and music) while we were there, but it was only audible in the master bedroom and stopped around 1am. Given this is out of anyone's control, I'm not noting it to complain, more to signal that if neighbours are there when you stay, earplugs would be handy.
Alexis was easily contactable throughout our stay if we had any queries.
Staying at this villa made our holiday so enjoyable. We will definitely be back!

Myself and 5 fiends stayed for a long weekend at this lovely villa. Communications with the owner were great. Villa lovely and clean. Fully stocked. Great location. I think the only thing that would have made it prefect would have been 2 more sunbeds. But overall really great.

A pleasant villa. However the pool is in the front of the property facing North. Because of this you have to chase the sunny spots around the villa. Also it is semi-detached and during our stay the neighbours were very noisy throughout the night in the main bedroom with the 4 poster. Also the pool area and the paved areas were all very dirty.

We've been coming to Lanzarote for the past 15+ years and I have to say this is one of the nicest Villa's we've stayed in during our stays. Comms with Alexis has been good and she always comes straight back to you. We will definitely be coming back to this villa.

Overall very good stay, villa a little tired, found many missing light bulbs making villa very dark. Had small issue with sink and also tissues coming through small pool filter. Sink dealt with promptly by maintenance guy who was excellent. Did feel other guy was slightly rude and stated nothing could be done about small pool, not a big issue. Despite a few niggles I would recommend the villa and the area

Not what I expected. I was attracted by the website’s photos and the words luxury & luxurious. Yes it exactly as shown on the photos but once you get past the WOW factor of walking into the villa the situation deteriorates. None of the bathrooms are fitted with toilet roll holders, towel rails, clothes hooks or shelves for toiletries. None of the bedrooms have drawer storage or shelf space other than student style hanging canvas things although there is a lot of hanging space. The showers were awful with little water pressure which surged, gurgled and fluctuated in temperature. there must be an issue to be rectified here as we initially had no hot water for the first three days. Later, during our stay there was water pouring out of the swimming pool & none in the house. This was quickly rectified but I think temporarily as the pool pump was screaming away as we left the villa. The broadband strength was insufficient to operate the Tv on any channel throughout our stay. The owner was made aware of the issues but did not accept any responsibility or offer any recompense nor release us from our third weeks stay when requested.

Location amazing for beaches, bars, restaurants and shops:
Beds - Wow - amazing, top quality and so comfortable
Fridge freezer & kitchen. Well stocked appliances and easy to live with.
TV - excellent selection (but WiFi struggled at times with Netflix).

The owner is difficult to get hold of and doesn’t reply to emails etc?
Hot water (showers, sinks) absolutely freezing cold until the solar panels get hot (around lunchtime) and also no pressure ever?
Pool - Beautiful to look at but absolutely freezing all of the time we were staying?
House appears to be all ran by solar energy and during the summer months this must be satisfactory? But now at the end of October it isn’t sufficient?
Karen did send an engineer out twice but he could not sort things? Such a shame as we love a pool and it was the main reason we booked the villa.
Only stayed for 5 days otherwise we would have checked out and found something else, which is Such a shame as we were so looking forward to the villa
Have used VRBO / Home & away many times and this is the 1st time we have ever left negative feedback.

We had a wonderful family stay at this gorgeous villa. The location was perfect - just five minutes to the supermarket and a couple more to the seafront of Playa Blanca. The kitchen of the villa was wonderful - not only did it look lovely, it was so well organised. Bifold doors opened on to an outdoor dining area, the pool jacuzzi etc. Each bedroom also had french doors leading to a lovely shaded area . There were three lovely bathrooms, so no queueing for showers! The pool and pool area were brilliant, as was the jacuzzi. We didn't use the children's pool. We also appreciated that were some toys and pool toys for our two year old to enjoy. As we arrived very late in the evening, the welcome pack of food and drinks in the generous American style fridge was very welcome indeed. We had little contact with the property manager (since we didn't really encounter any problems) , but found that Alexis (the owner) was very responsive and helpful when we were planning our holiday. Our stay was far too short and we look forward to returning soon.

We’ve stayed in various locations around Playa Blanca and this is by far one of the best locations for the main town.
A really lovely property with excellent facilities.
Alexis made it very easy to alter our dates as well and nothing seemed a problem.
My grandchildren had a great time as we all did.
I just wish we could have stayed for two weeks....or maybe forever!!!

The villa looked fantastic from the pictures but we were absolutely amazed when we arrived! What a fantastic holiday home we travelled as 4 adults with a young child all the facilities suited us well and the outside areas were very child friendly. The whole design and layout of the villa is great really modern & clean, plenty of outside seating areas to follow the sun! The pool was a hit with our 7 year old and we were all massively impressed with the villa! I would like to thank Alexis and her family for allowing us to stay we would love to return in the future!

We have just spent 2 weeks at this amazing villa, one week with our family and one week on our own. What a fantastic place to holiday from the day we arrived with the welcome pack to the day we left I cannot recommend it enough. There was plenty of space for 3 couples, the outside space was amazing and the pool and jacuzzi were well used. It's close proximity to the shops, bars etc was great and the taxis were very reasonable. I would recommend this villa to anyone wanting a luxury villa with superb facilities.

We stayed in Alexis' amazing villa for 1 week which was simply NOT long enough!!! We travelled as 3 couples and 1 child and the layout of the villa suited us perfectly! We have stayed in villas before but this is by far the best that we have ever stayed in! They really have thought of everything to make your stay truly special from the heated pool & jacuzzi, outside seating/dining area, BBQ, toys for the children, free wifi, state of the art alarm system and the best fridge ever, plus it's only a short walk to the nearest supermarket and resort centre so no car was needed. I would 100% recommend this villa to anyone!! A big thank you to Alexis and her family for allowing us to stay here and for her fantastic communication we will definitely be back!!!
